Abstract

Trata-se de examinar as relações entre pensamento e linguagem em Hume, de modo a situar a importância da gramática geral no quadro das ciências da natureza humana delineado no Tratado. Se Hume não tem uma filosofia da linguagem, é certo que ele delineia uma teoria dos signos, cuja reconstituição ilumina também as relações entre gramática, lógica e crítica.
