Abstract

This paper provides a reading of the Hegel-Kant relationship which attempts to assess the meaning of the demarcation between the faculty of knowledge and the known object in such a way that the thing-in-itself becomes both a product of reason and something alien to reason. The aim of this paper is to assess the status of this « alienage » ; it poses it as an essential remnant of the deployment of reason.
