Abstract

Romantic hermeneutics is the first form of modern hermeneutics and Friedrich Schleiermacher is considered its main representative. Previously, relevant research focused mainly on Schleiermacher, but in recent decades, more and more research has shown that Schlegel had played a fundamental role in the history of hermeneutics. The aim of this article is to re-examine Romantic hermeneutics and to give a clear and distinct account of the contributions of Friedrich Schlegel and Friedrich Schleiermacher to modern hermeneutics.
