The sciences of man, conciously or not, work on significations. It is therefore desirable that they learn from hermeneutics, which is the science of interpretation; and interpretation of behaviour uses the same methods and comes upon the same difficulties as interpretation of texts. The history of hermeneutics has shown the various dimensions of symbols: neutral aspect of textual configurations, poietical aspect of production strategies and aesthetic aspect of reception strategies. Ibn Khaldûn has often been presented as a precursor of historical materialism: the Machiavelli or the Arab Marx of the 14th century. He is undeniably materialistic in his methodology: the origin of power is thought to stem from the need to force men to cooperate so they can reproduce their material existence. But from his anthropological study of tribal societies and state societies, he developed an original analysis of power and of its corollary: violence. Politics can be conceived of, from (...) the work of Ibn Khaldûn (his Muqaddima in particular), as the organisation and coordination of violence. Violence is a vector of social unity, thanks to the esprit de corps in tribal societies, because it is directed outwards: the attack of enemy tribes and the defence of the community. In state societies, the weakening of the esprit de corps requires the establishment of a political authority (wazi’), which directs violence inwards to regulate natural aggressiveness. Far from being the negation of politics, violence is consubstantial with politics: it is the condition to the possibility of preserving a totality and a social unity. When a social group loses its capacity for violence, the community collapses, just like the city of Damascus ravaged by the troops of Tamerlane before the helpless eyes of the philosopher. (shrink)

El presente proyecto de investigación se ubica en el marco del equipo Innova de la Universidad de Deusto. “El equipo Innova es un equipo de investigación interfacultaticio que tiene como propósito el desarrollo de la innovación desde una perspectiva multifocal, ya que trata aspectos tan diversos como: organizativos, formativos y estructurales.” En este contexto se espera que la presente investigación pueda realizar una aportación sustancial en lo relativo al papel que desempañan las Competencias Genéricas en los procesos de educación superior. Se estima que los resultados por alcanzar en este trabajo habrán de responder a demandas que se presentan en el contexto educativo actual, en el marco de una sociedad caracterizada por la complejidad. Uno de los aspectos innovadores que define a esta indagación es, en el concierto de la interdisciplinariedad mencionada líneas arriba, el abordar cuestiones centrales del saber pedagógico bajo la perspectiva de la Hermenéutica filosófica. Puntualmente se toman aquí dos temas que son muy caros para la Pedagogía, el primero de ellos es ‘el problema de la comprensión’ y el otro lo concerniente a la ‘significatividad’. En la literatura preponderante en el ámbito pedagógico el abordaje de estas dos categorías se realiza recurriendo a los aportes de la psicología cognitiva. En el presente trabajo se asume este dato, pero se aborda sistemáticamente desde otro campo disciplinar como es la Hermenéutica filosófica. Las disciplinas filosóficas en general y en este caso particular la Hermenéutica, entran en diálogo con diversos campos científicos, como aquí lo hacen con la Pedagogía, bajo una perspectiva crítica y, a la vez, totalizante. Es decir, procuran reunir los aportes de los diversos campos científicos al tiempo de atender las articulaciones y las tensiones que entre ellos puedan surgir, al abordar el problema desde un horizonte más amplio que el que cae bajo el específico objeto de estudio de cada disciplina. Se busca, de este modo, una adecuada articulación entre los aportes específicos de cada campo científico bajo una lectura integradora que es propia de la Filosofía. Este posicionamiento es fundamental y, en este sentido innovador, al procurar enriquecer el campo de las Competencias Genéricas mediante las ‘Competencias Semánticas’, que se mueven en el ámbito de la significatividad y el sentido, requisitos imprescindibles para que un sujeto pueda posicionarse personal y comunitariamente en una sociedad compleja. Para lograr este cometido se ha recurrido a una metodología de investigación cualitativa de análisis de contenido, que se ha aplicado a una selección de obras que refieren a la hermenéutica de H-G. Although remote working can involve positive outcomes both for employees and organizations, in the case of the sudden and forced remote working situation that came into place during the COVID-19 crisis there have also been reports of negative aspects, one of which is technostress. In this context of crisis, leadership is crucial in sustainably managing and supporting employees, especially employees with workaholic tendencies who are more prone to developing negative work and health outcomes. However, while research on the role of (...) the positive aspects of leadership during crises does exist, the negative aspects of leadership during the COVID-19 crisis have not yet been studied. The present study aimed to explore the role of authoritarian leadership in a sample of 339 administrative university employees who worked either completely from home or from home and the workplace. The study examined the moderating effect of a manager on this relationship and the connections between workaholism and technostress through conditional process analysis. Results pointed out that high authoritarian leadership had an enhancing effect, whereas low authoritarian leadership had a protective effect on the relationship between workaholism and technostress, only in the group of complete remote workers. Thus, authoritarian leadership should be avoided and training leaders to be aware of its effect appears to be essential. Limitations, future directions for the study, and practical implications are also discussed. (shrink)

The radical changes deriving from the COVID-19 emergency have heavily upset some of the most familiar routines of daily work life. Abruptly, many workers have been forced to face the difficulties that come with switching to remote working. Basing on the theoretical framework proposed by the Job Demands-Resources model, the purpose of this paper was to explore the effect of work overload, on behavioral stress, meant as an outcome linked to the health impairment process. Furthermore, the aim of the study (...) was to explore the mediating role of job crafting, considered as a second-order construct consisting of two dimensions in the abovementioned relation. Participants were 530 workers experiencing remote working or work-from-home during the first COVID-19 lockdown in Italy. Hypotheses were explored by using three different latent variables, measured reflexively through indicators on a 5-point scale, extracted from validated questionnaires. Data analysis was performed through Structural Equation Modeling; to test the mediation, bootstrap validation was computed. Results showed that the mediation of job crafting was partial. More specifically, the direct effect between work overload and behavioral stress was positive; moreover, the indirect, negative effect through the mediation of job crafting was also significant. Therefore, results showed that job crafting can play a crucial role as a protective factor supporting the activation and adjustment of suitable resources; these resources can be useful to deal with the negative effects of work overload, particularly under the condition of heavy remote working and use of technologies, on individual outcomes. Starting from the current global scenario of the pandemic that has not yet ceased its effects, the study suggested decisive theoretical and practical implications. Accordingly, findings extended the current trends in occupational health psychology research, with special reference to the mainstream topic “work and COVID-19” in the Italian context. Finally, results can give suggestions to companies engaged in managing change, recommending that they build a collaborative workplace at the individual and collective level to implement job crafting interventions and enrich the personal and organizational resources of workers, which is useful cope with the current demands. Las micotoxinas son metabolitos fúngicos secunda­rios que pueden ejercer un efecto tóxico tanto en el hombre como en los animales debido, principalmente, a su exposición a través de los alimentos. La presencia de estos compuestos ha sido demostrada en una amplia variedad de materias primas, alimentos y piensos, en los que lo habitual es encontrar de for­ma frecuente una contaminación múltiple por diferentes mico­toxinas, en pequeñas cantidades, lo que puede generar efectos tóxicos subcrónicos, así como bioacumulación. Este artículo revisa los (...) principales elementos que configuran la problemática de las micotoxinas para el hombre y los animales, y aborda los retos de futuro que se plantean en el estudio de las micotoxinas, entre los que destacan el efecto que el cambio climático puede tener sobre el patrón de contaminación por micotoxinas en los alimentos, el descubrimiento creciente de nuevas micotoxinas en formas modificadas, la evaluación de la coexistencia de estas to­xinas y otros contaminantes, y las formas para detectar e intentar eliminar estos compuestos tóxicos de los alimentos. El artículo se propone establecer, a partir de una lectura sistemática de la obra de Pierre Bourdieu, algunas relaciones conceptuales entre poder y constitución social del tiempo. Partiendo del supuesto de que el tiempo, el modo en que lo experimentamos, concebimos y empleamos, es una construcción social, se tratan de identificar algunas de las maneras en que el poder interviene en esos procesos de construcción, tarea para la cual la obra de Bourdieu es no sólo estratégica sino insoslayable, pues está (...) entre las pocas que se han ocupado en profundidad de ambos temas. El artículo identifica primero las coordenadas generales del tratamiento bourdiano de ambas cuestiones, diferenciando cinco dimensiones del tiempo social: la del tiempo como experiencia práctica, como recurso, como coacción estructural, como representación del pasado y del futuro y como tensión existencial. En cada una, luego, se elaboran relaciones concretas entre poder y tiempo, que se pasan en limpio globalmente en las conclusiones. (shrink)

El análisis de los conceptos de espacio y tiempo es generalmente considerado uno de los aspectos menos satisfactorios de la obra de Hume. Kemp Smith ha demostrado que en esta sección del Tratado Hume estaba respondiendo a los argumentos que Pierre Bayle había utilizado para probar que el razonamiento humano siempre termina refutándose a sí mismo. En este ensayo expongo las falacias en los argumentos de Bayle, las cuales están basadas en una comprensión inadecuada del concepto de extensión. Hume no (...) logró detectar dichas falacias y repitió los mismos errores de Bayle, lo cual explica la absurda doctrina del espacio que defiende en el Tratado. (shrink)
