Contra those proclaiming the end of philosophy, Badiou aims to restore philosophical thought to the complete space of the truths that condition it.

Didacticism, romanticism, and classicism are the possible schemata for the knotting of art and philosophy, the third term in this knot being the education of subjects, youth in particular. What characterizes the century that has just come to a close is that, while it underwent the saturation of these three schemata, it failed to introduce a new one. Today, this predicament tends to produce a kind of unknotting of terms, a desperate dis-relation between art and philosophy, together with the pure (...) and simple collapse of what circulated between them: the theme of education. Whence the thesis of which this book is nothing but a series of variations: faced with such a situation of saturation and closure, we must attempt to propose a new schema, a fourth type of knot between philosophy and art. Among these “inaesthetic” variations, the reader will encounter a sustained debate with contemporary philosophical uses of the poem, bold articulations of the specificity and prospects of theater, cinema, and dance, along with subtle and provocative readings of Fernando Pessoa, Ste;phane Mallarme;, and Samuel Beckett. The notion that all the world's peoples constitute a "brotherhood of man" is not a given among all human beings--it is rather the product of history. So suggests acclaimed philosopher Alain Finkielkraut in _In the Name of Humanity,_ an unsettling reflection on the twentieth century in its twilight hours in which he asks us to rethink our assumptions about universalism and humanism. While many people look to humanist ideals as a deterrent to nationalist chauvinism, Finkielkraut challenges the abstract idea (...) of universalism by describing the terrible crimes "civilized" Europe has committed in its name. At the same time as it challenges the inhumanity of our century's great universalistic solutions, _In the Name of Humanity_ also confronts the more onerous elements of unreflective nationalism--clearly condemning the dangerous use of claims for ethnic purity. However, the book does not put forth a standard-issue polemic against the multitude of nationalistic currents that continue to plague the international arena. Indeed, even as he deplores the violence that seems to go hand in hand with nationalism, Finkielkraut defends its underlying cause--the need to belong. Eloquently quoting the experiences of refugees from Hitler's Germany, he shows the reader why we must heed the call of this irreducible need. Finkielkraut reminds us that the concept of cultural relativism--indeed, the very idea of tolerating other cultures--is a relatively recent development in Western history. As he looks for answers he interrogates the differences between historical racism and the racism embedded in the philosophies of this century's genocidal movements, showing how modern racist ideologies like National Socialism look not to sin within the self as the stumbling block of human advancement but to a clandestine conspiracy by a particular, identifiable element of human society. What this form of radical racist thought eliminates is the notion of personal responsibility--instead of finding the answers to misfortune within the self, modern racism suggests that evil can be identified in others and summarily eliminated. Lucidly connected to the ideas of past thinkers, from Plato to Levinas to Hannah Arendt, Finkielkraut's latest work is a troubling indictment of our century that refuses to back away from the "messiness" of human life and culture. Les expériences de «classe inversée» apparaissent aujourd'hui prometteuses. Alors que, dans les «classes traditionnelles», on «fait cours» à l'Ecole avant d'envoyer les élèves «travailler» chez eux, dans les «classes inversées», le professeur propose aux élèves de prendre connaissance d'un exposé enregistré ou d'une séquence illustrée puis les accueille en classe pour répondre à leurs questions et les accompagner dans la réalisation d'exercices ou de projets... On comprend que ce modèle pédagogique soit particulièrement attractif : à l'ère du numérique, au moment (...) où tant de ressources documentaires sont disponibles, le professeur voit ainsi son rôle renouvelé et peut se consacrer pleinement à l'appropriation des connaissances. Mais il ne faut pas, pour autant, basculer dans la naïveté spontanéiste. Prendre connaissance d'une information ou regarder une vidéo pour en tirer quelques enseignements ne vont pas de soi et le risque existe que beaucoup d'élèves n'en profitent guère. De même, interroger le professeur pour mieux comprendre un phénomène, faire un exercice de manière autonome ou travailler en petits groupes pour résoudre un problème ne sont pas des comportements faciles à mettre en oeuvre. Etre intellectuellement actif, s'engager dans un travail et le mener à bien ne se décrète pas, cela se forme. Et, précisément, l'ouvrage d'Alain Taurisson et de Claire Herviou nous montre comment faire. Prenant appui sur des travaux scientifiques éprouvés et des expérimentations solides, présentant les références théoriques nécessaires et donnant de très nombreux exemples d'outils utilisables, les auteurs fondent une véritable «pédagogie de l'activité», garantissant pleinement l'engagement de chaque élève tant dans la prise d'information que dans l'assimilation et le réinvestissement des connaissances. La reprise des migrations tsiganes depuis la chute des régimes communistes en Europe centrale et orientale ravive une série de préjugés et de stéréotypes qui ne permettent pas de cerner la complexité du phénomène. Les déplacements des Roms ne s'effectuent pas uniquement de l'Est à l'Ouest du continent, mais traduisent une reprise générale de la circulation des familles selon des mobiles principalement économiques. Les conséquences culturelles de ce phénomène sont inattendues. Si la logique des réseaux familiaux à la fois flexibles (...) et centripètes n'est pas remise en question par l'exploration de nouvelles contrées, les discours xénophobes à l'encontre des Tsiganes ne disparaissent pas et restreignent d'autant le rôle de passeurs de culture que ces derniers remplissent en voyageant. Les politiques contradictoires des États et des institutions internationales ne contribuent pas non plus à améliorer une situation qui reste préoccupante.The resumption of Gypsy migrations since the fall of communist regimes in Central and Eastern Europe revives a series of prejudices and stereotypes that do not capture the complexity of the phenomenon. Displacement of Roma do not occur only in the East to the West of the continent, but reflect a general recovery in the movement of families into mobile mainly economic. The cultural consequences of this phenomenon are unexpected. If the logic of family networks both flexible and centripetal is not challenged by the exploration of new lands, the xenophobic discourse against Gypsies do not disappear and therefore restrict the role of smugglers culture that they fulfill traveling. Contradictory policies of states and international institutions do not contribute more to improve a situation that is worrying. (shrink)

Il s'agit, en d'autres termes, d'encourager la production des contenus qui tiennent compte à la fois des différentes cultures et des contextes particuliers. Tout en se situant dans une perspective de «e-inclusion», cette étude vise à comprendre la manière dont les internautes africains francophones adaptent les nouvelles technologies à leurs besoins, de déceler les usages spécifiques à cette communauté. En (...) effet, si la technologie demeure «un phénomène universel », son utilisation reste liée à l'appartenance socioculturelle de l'internaute. En d'autres termes, les croyances, les habitudes de vie des individus influent sur l'usage que chacun fait de la technologie. S'interroger sur les usages particuliers des africains francophones revient donc à analyser la façon dont cette « double identité » se manifeste sur le cyberespace.The World Summit on the Information Society confirmed the necessity to promote cultural diversity on the internet. This means that content production which takes different cultures and particular contexts into account must be encouraged. In the prospect of "e-inclusion", this article aims to show how French-speaking African internauts adapt new technologies to their needs by showing the specific user behaviour of this community. Indeed, if technology remains a universal phenomenon, its use is linked with the internauts’ social and cultural profiles. On the other hand, people’s beliefs and ways of life influence individual and collective uses of technology. The question about the particular user behaviour of African French speakers leads us to analyse the way this "double identity” has shown itself in cyberspace. (shrink)

Il s’agira donc d’observer ce qui se donne à voir sur des réseaux socionumériques considérés comme nouveaux et émergents dans une diaspora « reconnue » par son caractère solidaire. Cette réflexion s’appuie sur des données issues d’une enquête en ligne, réalisée sur la base d’un questionnaire, auprès d’internautes de la diaspora. En effet, la question de la diaspora est nécessairement liée à celle (...) de la solidarité dans la mesure où elle implique une recherche d’amélioration des conditions de vie du pays ou de la région d’origine. Quant à la solidarité, elle est indissociable de la réflexion sur le lien social dans la mesure où ce dernier traduit tout ce qui maintient, entretient une solidarité entre les membres d’une même communauté.In discussing the various uses of social networks, this article seeks to highlight signs and expressions of solidarity and sharing. We therefore observe what is being disclosed on emerging social networking sites that are seen as newcomers to a diaspora which is “recognised” as rooted in solidarity. Our discussion draws on data from an online survey conducted through a questionnaire among web users within the diaspora. The diaspora idea necessarily stems from the question of solidarity, insofar as it implies the goal of improving living conditions in the country or region where it originated. As for solidarity, this is inseparable from the question of social ties, since these reflect anything that maintains and sustains solidarity between the members of a community. (shrink)

Kant’s essay on the question of literary piracy has so far been read as a foundational text in the history of literary property. When Kant refers to the book as a “mute instrument,” scholars of intellectual property already know how to interpret that formulation because they presume the distinction that the contemporary jurisprudence of intellectual property makes between matter and form and its concomitant assumption that print is just an inert, nonagentive medium. In fact, Kant begins his analysis of unauthorized (...) publication not with the question What is an author? but with the question What is publication?. His insight was that unauthorized publication revealed a structural feature of publication in general. The effect of the interposition of print, or the fact that speech begins in and with print, is that the author is structurally alienated from his or her speech. Kant was not an Enlightenment media theorist, but he recognized that speech had to be mediated and therefore delivered to the reader and that it was the medium itself that determined the conditions under which authors and readers could exist and be present to one another and under which speech could become an authorship. In order to create a language channel for public reason, Kant had to take a detour through the legal fiction of agency. Speech might have been an action that could have its existence “only in a person,” but this supposedly innate bond was made by a legal fiction of representation, according to which one person could truly speak “as if” they were another. Kant’s answer to the question What is a book? developed a law that was not so much a law of literary property as a law that sought to suspend the alienating effects of print so as to restore the Enlightenment ideal of communication. Depuis 2002, les régions sont pleinement responsables de la gestion des TER. Cette évolution permet-elle de faire l'hypothèse que la décentralisation s'apparente à une forme instituée d'expérimentation et d'innovation publiques ? L'hypothèse mérite discussion tant elle heurte frontalement une certaine tradition politique française.

Le présent article s’appuie sur une recherche clinique référée à la théorie psychanalytique et menée à partir de trente entretiens semi-directifs réalisés auprès d’adultes homosexuels engagés dans la parentalité. L’auteur présente deux études de cas qui concernent des sujets ayant choisi la configuration de la coparentalité à quatre. Les hypothèses suivantes sont soumises à l’analyse du discours : d’une part, dans ce genre de configuration, on retrouve une permanence des processus psychiques liés au devenir parent (réactualisation des enjeux œdipiens, deuil (...) développemental, permutation symbolique des places); d’autre part ce genre de configuration met en évidence que ces processus peuvent trouver un étayage sur le lien amoureux entre personnes de même sexe ainsi que sur les liens qui se créent entre les membres du « quatuor » et dans lesquels les fantaisies hétérosexuelles jouent un rôle non négligeable. The lesson of atoms. Lucretius' influence in Diderot. Diderot appreciated Lucretius' poem, which was for him an early introduction to the philosophy of the ancient atomists. He probably intended the Ręve de d'Alembert, which posits the most daring hypotheses of his own philosophy of nature, to be a modern De rerum natura. However, the influence of Lucretius on the Encyclopedist appears to be complex. If Diderot clearly contradicts certain atomist theses, notably as they concern the origin of living beings, this (...) is doubtless due to his fidelity to a profound Epicurean principle - that of the complete autonomy of natural forces - which, in his opinion, needs to be defended on new grounds. Beyond its literal statements, one can thus follow in the Ręve the principal intelligible frameworks characteristic of the De rerum natura, as well as a poetic mode of writing inspired by Lucretius and intended to arouse the speculative imagination.
