Analisa a influência do pensamento da “Escola de Frankfurt” na Ciência da Informação. Realiza estudo descritivo, de caráter epistemológico, subsidiado pela hermenêutica habermasiana. Apresenta interlocuções da “Teoria Crítica” de Frankfurt no campo das ciências sociais, notadamente, no contexto da Ciência da informação, por meio dos estudos e pesquisas publicados junto ao campo, na contemporaneidade. Dimensiona os pensadores frankfurtianos mais referenciados no campo da informação, com base no cenário contemporâneo do conhecimento no campo. Destaca as articulações dos constructos frankfurtianos às tendências (...) e tópicos teóricos, metodológicos e temáticos da Ciência da Informação, evidenciando aqueles mais expressivos, propulsores e representativos dessa articulação na contemporaneidade. Conclui destacando que os encaminhamentos frankfurtianos erguem-se sobremaneira fecundos como via para se conceber e perceber a informação e a Ciência da Informação em termos humanos, sociais e crítico-reflexivos, de modo a reafirmar seu pertencimento à condição de ciência social, muito além de projeções pragmatistas, tecnicistas e positivistas. Neste artigo, apresentamos algumas possíveis contribuições inferidas da Filosofia de Charles Sanders Peirce que podem fundamentar os estudos sobre as ciências psíquicas, especificamente as Teorias da Mente Expandida. Para isso, utilizamos o pragmaticismo de Peirce e seu conceito de mente. Segundo ele, a mente é intensiva, interativa, expandida e mutável. No processo da expansão mental existem conexões entre as cognições (quase-mentes) guiadas por quase-propósitos, que são atualizações da Causa Final (finious). Ela é uma potência de excitação que busca a ampliação (...) da razoabilidade. O finious é intensificado a partir de estados de irritação, derivados dos atritos entre quase-mentes que estão em relação. Essas resistências são resolvidas por meio da geração e transformação de hábitos que ampliam e tornam mais complexas as mediações correlacionadas. Desta forma, o que era alteridade – por ação do hábito – passa a fazer parte de uma mente expandida. Do ponto de vista pragmaticista, as consequências experimentais do conceito de mente expandida devem ser: a emergência, a evolução e o acoplamento de regularidades materializadas em corpos heterogêneos. Do estudo dessas regularidades deve ser possível inferir: as associações de propósitos e mediações para a resolução da “irritação” das quase-mentes envolvidas em um processo de expansão mental. Cabe a um psicólogo investigador da mente expandida a atualização desses processos em contextos específicos. (shrink)

The doctrine of unity of opposites lays in the centre of the debate on Heraclitus’ philosophy. The present article proposes a critical analysis of the mainstream interpretation of geometrical oppositions (fragments DK 22 B 59, B 60 and B 103) as mere examples of different points of view. Instead, we suggest that these fragments are fundamental pieces in Heraclitus cosmology and that they are traces of a circular and archaic paradigm. Indeed, cyclical formulations are spread throughout the fragments and, read (...) in connection with geometrical oppositions, perform a useful model to describe how permanence and change can be complementary events. In this context, circularity can be a key to the comprehension of unity of opposites as a result of interchangeable processes – as day and night, life and death, beginning and end – so that opposites are part of a concrete and vital unity. Este artigo visa analisar, após apresentar o modelo atual do Estado regulador, a necessidade e possibilidade de incluir as novas tecnologias, especialmente a inteligência artificial, como objeto de tópico específico no bojo da regulação, considerando se tratar de tema recente e sob significativo interesse. Vivencia-se, atualmente, um boom na área tecnológica, com novas tecnologias surgindo a todo momento. Os impactos sobre a sociedade, de diversas ordens, tais como jurídicos, sociais e econômicos, não podem ser subestimados. Portanto, o Estado tem que (...) estar preparado para regulá-los. Este artigo propõe expor os desafios e as possibilidades envolvendo a regulação do assunto. Para tanto, fora utilizada a metolodogia qualitativa, fundamentada principalmente na revisão bibliográfica e na análise hermenêutica de corpos legislativos selecionados, com uma natureza prescritiva que propõe um modelo regulatório adaptado às necessidades impostas pelas novas tecnologias, especialmente a inteligência artificial. O presente trabalho tem como objetivo, delinear o cerne do debate em Filosofia da Mente a respeito do problema da identidade pessoal ao longo do tempo. Para isso, tratarei da identidade pessoal e seus problemas, discutindo a importância do debate, definindo os principais conceitos para uma melhor investigação e dando um breve panorama histórico do problema na modernidade, bem como os principais eixos de resposta, dando ênfase à tradição lockeana que se fundamenta na memória. Em seguida analisarei o critério psicológico (...) de Derek Parfit, que também se baseia na memória, mas questiona sua suficiência. Argumento ao final que a complexidade das teorias contemporâneas sobre a memória episódica exige uma revisão crítica das considerações de Parfit e de outros defensores do critério psicológico da memória, o que, consequentemente, pode levar a necessidade de novos critérios para preservar a identidade pessoal ao longo do tempo. La primera noticia sobre la novela Hiperión se remonta al verano de 1792, año en que Hölderlin ya se encuentra en el seminario de Tubinga. Hasta el final del año de 1793, el autor se ocupó de la elaboración de un primer esbozo, del cual no queda ningún vestigio. Desde el comienzo de 1794 hasta el otoño, se puede hablar de la versión de la novela a la que Holderlin se entregó durante su estadía en Waltershausen como preceptor del hijo (...) de la señora Von Kalb. Se trata del célebre Fragmento de Hiperión, que Schiller publicó en su revista Thalia, conjuntamente con el poema al destino. Desde noviembre de 1794 hasta enero de 1795, Holderlin trabaja en la versión metrificada de la novela. De enero hasta agosto, prosigue, aún, elaborando la Juventud de Hiperión. De agosto-septiembre hasta diciembre de 1795 redacta la llamada penúltima versión, que será reelaborada y continuada de enero a mayo de 1796. Desde mayo hasta diciembre de 1796, elabora la versión conocida como preparación para la versión definitiva. En 1797 las ediciones Cotta publican, bajo la indicación de Schiller, el primer tomo de la versión definitiva de la novela y en 1799, el segundo. En su versión definitiva, la novela conservó el título de Hiperión o el eremita en Grecia. (shrink)

The article aims to reflect on the pandemic from the situatedness of being in the eye of the storm. It discusses the contagion between biological and digital viralization, and the politics and existential effects of the pandemic non-touching.

This essay examines the figure of Amadeo Peter Giannini, founder of the Bank of Italy (later Bank of America), as an example of an _alternative_ banking model based on ethical and humanistic principles inspired by Franciscan socio-economic thought. The analysis explores how values such as fraternity, gratuity, simplicity, humility, and service - rarely found in the financial sector - can be integrated into _banking management_ to create a positive and democratic impact. The objective is to fill a gap in research (...) at the intersection of ethics, spirituality, and economics, demonstrating that an approach grounded in _human dignity_ and the _common good_ can be successful even in a profit-oriented context. This vision proved to have a significant impact during critical moments, such as the San Francisco earthquake and the Great Depression, showing Giannini’s deep _trust_ in human resilience and dignity. Furthermore, the _faithful banker_ supported emerging industries like film and wine and invested in infrastructure projects like the Golden Gate, contributing to California’s economic and social development. Through the analysis of historical sources and testimonies, it is highlighted that the humanistic model of the “_gentle giant_” not only promoted financial inclusion and democratization, inspired by the Monti di Pietà, and access to credit for working-class people and immigrants but also fostered a visionary role for the bank as a _trusted partner_ in social progress. This approach demonstrated that finance could be a tool for _community wealth_, uniting economic growth with human development. The legacy of this _humble banker_ confirms that corporate prosperity is not at odds with social justice and sustainable development. His “_moral_” banking philosophy, rooted in trust, humanity, and fraternity, represents a model for integrating economy and faith, rejecting individualism and promoting inclusivity and fraternity. Two different kinds of stochastic processes in Hilbert space used to introduce spontaneous localization into the quantum evolution are investigated. In the processes of the first type, finite changes of the wave function take place instantaneously with a given mean frequency. The processes of the second type are continuous. It is shown that under a suitable infinite frequency limit the discontinuous process transforms itself into the continuous one.

The article aims to highlight the cosmic dimension of Jean-Luc Nancy’s thoughts on the sense of the world. It argues that his thought of the world is deeply touched by “cosmic stains.” The cosmic dimension is to be understood as “stain” rather than as dimension insofar it is about the moment in which the sentiment that existence is really existing incides upon existence. It is about being touched by the there-is of the there-is itself. The cosmic stain of Nancy’s thoughts (...) of the sense of the world has to do with existence being “exscripted” from ontology when, in the state of the acosmism of the world today, the only thing to hold on to is the existence of existence, which opens a transitive sense of existence and being. This is a book about everything. Literally. It is also a book about how anything whatsoever happens. By answering the question what is a thing?, philosopher M. Oreste Fiocco reveals what it is to exist, what a being, any being at all, is. In this way, he illuminates reality as a whole and what it is to be real. Such profound matters require a special method of inquiry, which Fiocco introduces and elaborates. Any assumption about the world or anything (...) in it might distort the correct answer to a question as general as what it is to exist. Thus, the method employed herein -- original inquiry -- begins with no assumptions about reality. It is, then, a method independent of any figure, trend, or tradition in the history of philosophy. Via this method, one simply confronts all this, the world, an all-encompassing diverse array of whatnot, and on this basis can come to a secure account of what it is to be. In simply confronting the world, however, one's experience shifts, is transient: all this goes from one way--with, say, a cat here--to some other way--the cat being over there. This manifest inconstancy must be accounted for in any comprehensive account of the world. Yet so must a manifest constancy. If the cat is now, at this moment, over there, that the cat is now, at this moment, over there is forever true. These seemingly contradictory phenomena, inconstancy and constancy, demonstrate the importance of time to understanding the world. Since any legitimate inquiry is directed at something or other and since many objects of inquiry (including inquiry itself) occur over time, correct accounts of temporal reality and of being - of time and the world - provide insight into all inquiry. These accounts provide constraints on and, hence, guidelines for investigating any subject matter in any field. Therefore, this is a book for anyone curious about such grand, abstruse matters as the nature of reality or of time itself, as well as a book for someone curious about any thing at all. (shrink)

Many of Marco Aurelio Severino’s works were published in Germany, thanks to the intercession of his pupils. The prestigious Nürnberg physician Johann Georg Volkamer was Severino’s closest pupil. A relevant manuscript letter of Severino to Volkamer sheds new light on the context of the edition of Severino’s Zootomia democritaea. The correspondence between Severino and Volkamer was firstly studied by Luigi Amabile in the Ninteenth-century, and it was fully exploited by Maurizio Torrini about a century later.
