In Essays Critical and Clinical, Deleuze argues that Beckettian characters usually strive towards becoming imperceptible. This statement immediately poses another question: what is becoming imperceptible and where does it lead? How can we rid ourselves of ourselves? Paradoxically enough, Deleuze states that becoming imperceptible is life. The literal and self-evident meaning of life seems somehow incompatible with the image of dissolving and decaying characters in Beckett's works. Contrary to this self-evidence, the notion of life in Deleuze and Beckett should be (...) interpreted as pure potentiality which opens both the potential to be (or do) and the potential not to be (or do). Beckettian characters together with other figures, such as Bartleby, let us think of a life in its potential not to be. The life of the individual gives way to impersonal and singular life: a life of pure immanence. Such a life can be immanent to a man who no longer has a name, though he can be mistaken for no other: the Beckettian Unnamable. (shrink)

Straipsnyje analizuojama Lietuvos gyventojų subjektyviai suvokiama asmeninė ir socialinė gerovė. Remiamasi Europos socialinio tyrimo duomenimis. Vertinant asmeninę gerovę, remiantis hedonine prieiga, straipsnyje analizuojami kognityvinės ir afekto dedamųjų kintamieji. Vertinant socialinę gerovę analizuojamas subjektyvus socioeko­nominės pozicijos suvokimas, socialinis optimizmas, socialiniai ryšiai bei aktyvaus įsitraukimo lygis. Apibendrinus tyrimo rezultatus teigiama, jog Lietuvos gyventojams būdinga tik vidutiniška tiek asmeninė, tiek socialinė subjektyvi gerovė. Pabrėžtina, jog iš visų analizuotų gerovės komponentų palankiausiai vertintina asmeninės gerovės afekto dedamoji bei Lietuvos gyventojų turimas susiejantis socialinis kapitalas.

Straipsnyje siekiama identifikuoti ir moksliškai interpretuoti Lietuvos spausdintinėje ir internetinėje žiniasklaidoje vykstantį klimato kaitos diskursą. Remiantis autorių 2011–2012 m. atliktos žiniasklaidos tekstų turinio analizės duomenimis, analizuojama klimato kaitos diskurso tvarka, turinys bei pagrindiniai veikėjai. Rezultatai rodo, jog spausdintinėje žiniasklaidoje klimato kaitos diskurso tvarka rečiau sutrikdoma, o diskurso turinys labiau politizuotas nei internetinėje žiniasklaidoje. Tiek internetinėje, tiek spausdintinėje žiniasklaidoje politinio bei akademinio sektoriaus atstovai išryškėja kaip pagrindiniai veikėjai, pasižymintys diskursų įgalintu semantiniu dominavimu.

The education systems can be analysed by using the distinction along different types of welfare regimes. Esping-Andersen (1990) described the Scandinavian universalistic, Continental corporatist, and Anglo-Saxon liberal models. The purpose of the paper is a comparative analysis of the development of educational systems in the Baltic states. We used the PISA 2012 survey data and compared the Baltic countries with three “old” EU member states: UK representing the Anglo-Saxon liberal model, Germany for the Continental corporatist model and Finland as an (...) example of the Scandina­vian model. PISA 2003, 2006 and 2009 data were used for a retrospective analysis of countries’ performance. We considered four aspects of the organization of the national school systems: human and material resources in schools, leadership and the level of school autonomy, assessment, school selectivity and ability grouping. We found that three Baltic states do not represent a single Central and Eastern European model. (shrink)
