Cet article présente le dispositif de formation et ses objectifs ainsi que l’analyse d’écrits réflexifs produits dans le cadre des travaux certificatifs et dans lesquels les participantes décrivent quelques-uns des effets de la formation sur leurs pratiques professionnelles.

Béatrice Longuenesse presents an original exploration of our understanding of ourselves and the way we talk about ourselves. In the first part of the book she discusses contemporary analyses of our use of 'I' in language and thought, and compares them to Kant's account of self-consciousness, especially the type of self-consciousness expressed in the proposition 'I think.' According to many contemporary philosophers, necessarily, any instance of our use of 'I' is backed by our consciousness of our own body. For (...) Kant, in contrast, 'I think' just expresses our consciousness of being engaged in bringing rational unity into the contents of our mental states. In the second part of the book, Longuenesse analyzes the details of Kant's view and argues that contemporary discussions in philosophy and psychology stand to benefit from Kant's insights into self-consciousness and the unity of consciousness. The third and final part of the book outlines similarities between Kant's view of the structure of mental life grounding our uses of 'I' in 'I think' and in the moral 'I ought to, ' on the one hand; and Freud's analysis of the organizations of mental processes he calls 'ego' and 'superego' on the other hand. Longuenesse argues that Freudian metapsychology offers a path to a naturalization of Kant's transcendental view of the mind. It offers a developmental account of the normative capacities that ground our uses of 'I, ' which Kant thought could not be accounted for without appealing to a world of pure intelligences, distinct from the empirical, natural world of physical entities. There has never been a greater need for reliable, truthful news to help citizens navigate and assess the veracity of what they are reading and viewing, especially on social media. Widespread concerns around ‘fake’ news demonstrate an enduring requirement for curated and trustworthy children’s news that addresses children as young citizens with certain rights. Drawing on recent UK events, we discuss the case for children’s news provision by public service broadcasting from a communication rights perspective by analyzing the BBC’s 2019 (...) plans to reduce the broadcast presence and originated hours of its flagship news service, Newsround, in favor of online distribution. O presente artigo objetiva realizar um estudo de caso que aplica o modelo de inferência da melhor explicação (inference to the best explanation, IBE) de Peter Lipton ao episódio histórico da construção do modelo de dupla-hélice do DNA, no século XX. Procura avaliar a eficiência de tal modelo quando confrontado com a história da ciência e em que medida é capaz de rivalizar com ou superar outros modelos de explicação já consolidados na literatura de filosofia da ciência, tais como os (...) modelos nomológico-dedutivo e indutivo-estatístico de Carl Hempel, o modelo de relevância estatística de Wesley Salmon, ou, ainda, o modelo pragmático de explicação de Bas van Fraassen. Por fim, a conclusão apresentada é que o modelo de inferência da melhor explicação se mostra mais eficaz para ilustrar esse episódio da história da genética do que as outras propostas filosóficas analisadas. SÍNTESE - Este texto visa contribuir ao debate sobre as condições para filosofar com crianças. Sugere que o aprendizado da relação é passivei a partir do resgate da nossa história pessoal e do exercício da admiração, o que se efetiva na relação com crianças. Tal aprendizado, configurando já uma postura filosófica, possibilita a reconstrução do dizer e do pensar, da relação entre o dizer e o pensar, do comunicar. Perguntas-máquinas se desenvolvem em problemas e perseguem uma pergunta fundamental que não se satisfaz e perdura através de todas as respostas. Assim a aprendizagem conduz as faculdades ao exercício transcendente e requer uma educação voltada para a emissão e a exploração dos signos.

Hegel's Science of Logic has received less attention than his Phenomenology of Spirit, but Hegel himself took it to be his highest philosophical achievement and the backbone of his system. The present book focuses on this most difficult of Hegel’s published works. Béatrice Longuenesse offers a close analysis of core issues, including discussions of what Hegel means by ‘dialectical logic’, the role and meaning of ‘contradiction’ in Hegel’s philosophy, and Hegel’s justification for the provocative statement that ‘what is actual (...) is rational, what is rational is actual’. "Kant and the Capacity to Judge" will prove to be an important and influential event in Kant studies and in philosophy.

Surveys were conducted at two metta meditation retreats in order to examine the psychological effects of metta meditation. Participants were invited to complete the survey at the beginning of the retreat, at the end of the retreat, and two weeks after the end of the retreat. Participants completed the same scales at each time phase, which included measures of happiness, compassionate love, revenge and avoidance motivation, gratitude, and a depression, anxiety and stress scale. Significant increases were found in happiness and (...) compassionate love, reductions in avoidance and revenge, and reductions on the depression, anxiety and stress subscales. (shrink)

Víctor Alfonso Costeño Chilaca publicó en la última edición de Metatheoria (vol. 12, núm. 1, 2021) un artículo fructífero en el que explica en qué consiste la Inferencia a la Mejor Explicación (IME) y cómo las críticas dirigidas a este modelo inferencial pueden ser respondidas de manera satisfactoria. El autor resalta el papel importante desempeñado por las “virtudes explicativas” para una correcta aplicación de la IME. Sin embargo, a pesar del excelente trabajo realizado para aclarar estos aspectos filosóficos, queda un (...) desafío complejo para la IME según la caracterización de Costeño Chilaca: ¿cómo jerarquizar los grados de relevancia de las virtudes explicativas para evitar que la IME se convierta en un razonamiento trivial? This paper explores some key texts of Virginia Woolf in the context of Deleuzian concepts. Using a close reading style, it shows how the prose poetry in Mrs Dalloway engages a complex interplay of repetition and difference, resulting in a remarkably similar model of the three syntheses of time as Deleuze understands them. It subsequently explores Woolf's technical processes in a key passage from To the Lighthouse, showing how the prose-poetic technique systematically undoes the structures of logical fact and rationality (...) inscribed in both language and everyday speech to an extremely precise level. Thanks to their work, doctors today can cure diseases, lessen pain, replace unhealthy limbs or organs, and help infertile couples have children. Doctors can even keep seriously ill people alive against all odds. But not everyone is enamored with advances in medicine. They question whether it is appropriate to prolong life in all cases, or believe that (...) certain treatments have been developed unethically. O livro Ensaios de Filosofia da Ciência (2019) é uma coletânea de vários textos de Pierre Duhem escritos em diferentes momentos de sua vida. A obra foi organizada pela Associação Filosófica Scientiae Studia e conta com um profícuo ensaio introdutório escrito pelo tradutor, o prof. Dr. Fábio Rodrigo Leite. Cada ensaio possui seus próprios capítulos, porém, na subdivisão dessa coletânea, cada texto foi referido como um capítulo e seus capítulos postos como subcapítulos. No presente fichamento abordaremos o primeiro capítulo, isto (...) é, o ensaio “Algumas reflexões acerca das teorias físicas”, que, na verdade, trata-se de uma aula inaugural do curso de Física e de Cristalografia da Faculdade de Ciências de Lille ministrada por Duhem em 1892, no qual o filósofo apresenta uma síntese de sua concepção acerca da natureza do conhecimento científico. Esse ensaio, como atesta o tradutor, é um dos mais importantes desse proeminente filósofo da ciência e merece atenção para compreender a evolução do pensamento duhemiano. (shrink)

Ao considerarmos a conexão entre a vivência e o filosofar estabelecemos um ponto de partida espontâneo, relativo a uma determinada atitude, expressa na transposição a uma significação mais abrangente às nossas questões, ao serem estas existencialmente assumidas. Observamos, com isso, que o filosofar estabelece uma inter-relação produtiva entre o silêncio de eventos interiores, relativamente idiossincráticos, aos quais denominamos vivências, e as exigências de clarificação, ordenação e rigor, dentre outras, no âmbito lógico-lingüístico, por uma infinita aproximação entre estes dois pólos.

O texto visa contribuir, por um lado, à investigação acerca dos processos psicológicos, aos níveis subjetivo, lógico e intersubjetivo, inerentes a uma postura filosofante, remetendo a considerações metodológicas com relação ao ensino de Filosofia. Por outro, visa questionar a relação entre o filosofar e a História da Filosofia, visando à conexão entre o diálogo filosófico e o diálogo com a História da Filosofia.

A analogia, enquanto procedimento metodológico da dialética platônica, estabelece uma relação entre paidéia e dialética ascendente. O presente estudo limita-se ao diálogo Ménon e visa, ainda, articular a relação entre este diálogo e o conjunto de obra de Platão no que concerne à relação entre analogia e dialética.

SÍNTESE - O texto visa contribuir ao debate sobre a relação entre a questão "o que é Filosofia" e o ensino/aprendizado de Filosofia com crianças, tecendo considerações acerca da metodologia de ensino.

O texto, em sua estrutura argumentativa, objetiva estabelecer as condições pelas quais a linguagem deveria remeter a um contexto que ultrapassa as exigências de uma razão que identifica verdade e universalidade. As questões o que é comunicar? e o que é pensar? orientam uma perspectiva de abordagem do problema, conduzindo à considerações críticas acerca da insuficiência de uma concepção da racionalidade que se funda na exclusão da alteridade.

El concepto de justicia aparece en la obra Spinoza de manera enigmática, bajo la forma de una aparente definición clásica o escolástica en una filosofía que no lo es: “justicia es el ánimo constante de dar a cada uno lo suyo”. A juzgar por esta definición que parece importada, el problema de la justicia podría leerse como uno de poco interés para Spinoza. Up to the present, there have not been any specific norms regarding medically assisted human reproduction in Romanian legislation. Due to this situation the general legislation regarding medical assistance, the Penal and Civil law and the provisions of the Code of Deontology of the Romanian College of Physicians are applied to the field of medically assisted human reproduction. By analysing the ethical and legal conflicts regarding medically assisted human reproduction in Romania, some characteristics cannot be set apart because they derive (...) from religious, cultural and socio-economic aspects. In this article the authors identify the development stages of medically assisted human reproduction in Romania, beginning from these characteristics and insisting upon the failure of the legal system in this specific field. The authors consider that the law regarding medically assisted human reproduction cannot be effective because it did not take into account the ethical and cultural aspects that might appear. Furthermore, in this framework of the legal process, no public debate involving the representatives of civil society was undertaken although the Council of Europe Oviedo Convention approved by our country according to law no. 17/2001 stipulated exactly this working method. In this highly original and thought-provoking work the late Miller Mair puts forward his ideas for a new psychology. Starting from three theatrical rewritings of the parable of the prodigal son played on the stages of the Jesuits, the Fair and the Comédie-Française, the article focuses on analysing dramatic, dramaturgical and scenic choices that correspond to the narrative processes of the parable to renew its approach at the beginning of the eighteenth century, which is the turning point of a movement of secularization of biblical subjects. The open guidance of the word of Christ as reported by Luke is followed (...) by another form of guidance towards various interpretations corresponding to the expectations of the spectator, and plural readings that give a perception of the literacy of the New Testament narrative. The following article is the result of a collaboration between a painter and a woman philosopher. They worked previously on an experimental documentary film about objects and art objects, which was realized at Palais de Tokyo. The painter had illustrated in black and white fictions of philosophy, written during a festival on lost films organized by UNdocumenta in South Korea, and then he made photographs of oil paintings of the English translation. This article about painting and philosophical ethics is their (...) first common text. It aims to show that there is no interdiscipline or passage known between the philosophical work and the painting. The philosopher can not imitate the recognition of the painter nor the painter to repair the philosophical non-encounter. The question then is: What can ethics in this non-symmetrical space? Rather than being a product of philosophy, it is what organizes this space between recognition and non-encounter. It is an ethics for philosophy, rather than the other way around. Ethics force to greet the other philosophers without the grudge of the loss necessary to the invention and allows the painter to know the distances that make him feel the recognition. This ethical space is unknown and can not be covered by the artist's philosophy of access or pre-nomination by indexes. Ethics is this unknown, i.e. it is a sense-without-sign, it is without rules-said but process of indexation and acceptance of the loss. (shrink)
