Students' Performances in Computer Programming of Higher Education for Sustainable Development: The Effects of a Peer-Evaluation System.Tsung-Chih Hsiao, Ya-Hsueh Chuang, Tzer-Long Chen, Chien-Yun Chang & Chih-Cheng Chen - 2022 - Frontiers in Psychology 13.
Modern education attaches great importance to interdisciplinary skills, among which computational thinking is a core element, and heralds a new era. IT application has shaped education in the 21st century. Computational thinking has provided further impetus for building an all-encompassing social network and fostering a DIY culture enabled by digital technologies. One empirical study used four apps to test children's development in computational thinking and fluency. The article will help students overcome their fears of coding. Peer reviews provide students with (...)

To many, recent allegations of accounting fraud (or earnings management; EM) at Enron, coupled with similar ones at many other corporations, are a strong indication of a serious decay in business ethics. In academics, this raises the concern between EM and corporate social responsibility (CSR). Since it has neither been documented, nor globally tested whether CSR mitigates or increases the extent of EM, three kinds of EM are studied: earnings smoothing, earnings aggressiveness, and earnings losses and decreases avoidance. The extents (...)

To blow or not to blow the whistle: the effects of potential harm, social pressure and organisational commitment on whistleblowing intention and behaviour.Ching-Pu Chen & Chih-Tsung Lai - 2014 - Business Ethics: A European Review 23 (3):327-342.
This study uses a rational ethical decision-making framework to examine the influence of moral intensity (potential harm and social pressure) on whistleblowing intention and behaviour using organisational commitment as a moderator. A scenario was developed, and an online questionnaire was used to conduct an empirical analysis on the responses of 533 participants. The mean age and years of work experience of the respondents were 31 and 8.2 years, respectively. The results show, first, that while moral intensity is correlated with whistleblowing (...)

Interpretations of The name Of The nien army.Lo-Erh-Kang - 1980 - Chinese Studies in History 13 (3):58-63.
St, what did the word nien itself mean? There are five retations. The first holds that it referred to a place people congregated. Ch'a K'uei's "Lun An-hui li-chih" [On ficer System in Anhwei] states,1 "They carried swords and ed into units by the tens and hundreds. … The places they gathered were known as nien-tzu; the large nien-tzu red several hundred people." In 1814, T'ao Chu, the Im- Censor wrote,2 "They gather and commit improprieties ad daylight. Each group is (...)

    The contemporary development of a neo-confucian epistemology.Shu-hsien Liu - 1971 - Inquiry: An Interdisciplinary Journal of Philosophy 14 (1-4):19 – 40.
Until recently epistemology in the Western sense was never a central issue in Chinese philosophy. Contemporary Chinese neo?Confucian philosophers, however, realize that in order to reconstruct some of the important traditional philosophical insights and make them meaningful in the present time, certain methodological and epistemological considerations are indispensable. The present paper undertakes to examine some of these efforts. Since most neo?Confucian philosophers today have been influenced by Hsiung Shih?li, in one way or another, his epistemological theory is presented first. Then (...)

  26. 反思機器人的道德擬人主義.Tsung-Hsing Ho - 2020 - EurAmerica 50 (2):179-205.

This article sets out to undertake a thorough, point-by-point examination of the theory postulated by Campbell (2007), in which an attempt is made to specify the conditions under which corporations may or may not act in socially responsible ways. In order to ensure the overall reliability of our study, and to attempt to provide a new understanding of, and greater insights into, whether corporate social responsibility (CSR) is affected by financial and institutional variables, we empirically investigate a total of 520 (...)

In educational measurement, exploring the method of generating multiple high-quality parallel tests has become a research hotspot. One purpose of this research is to construct parallel forms item by item according to a seed test, using two proposed item selection heuristic methods [minimum parameters–information–distance method and minimum information–parameters–distance method ]. Moreover, previous research addressing test assembly issues has been limited mainly to situations in which the information curve of the item pool or seed test has a normal or skewed distribution. The results show that the KLD ratings effectively measure and predict social performance in both categories. The results also suggest that the KLD ratings may identify differences in the quality of management and firm which can affect future social performance and is not entirely explained by past social performance. Selim Berker argues that epistemic consequentialism is pervasive in epistemology and that epistemic consequentialism is structurally flawed. is incorrect, however. I distinguish between epistemic consequentialism and epistemic instrumentalism and argue that most putative consequentialists should be considered instrumentalists. I also identify the structural problem of epistemic consequentialism Berker attempts to pinpoint and show that epistemic instrumentalism does not have the consequentialist problem.

Parrondo's paradox, in which losing strategies can be combined to produce winning outcomes, has received much attention in mathematics and the physical sciences; a plethora of exciting applications has also been found in biology at an astounding pace. In this review paper, the authors examine a large range of recent developments of Parrondo's paradox in biology, across ecology and evolution, genetics, social and behavioral systems, cellular processes, and disease. Intriguing connections between numerous works are identified and analyzed, culminating in an (...)

The purpose of this study is to extend prior research on this topic by investigating whether the impact of ownership concentration moderates the link between corporate social performance and financial performance. This study uses a set of unique, hand-collected pollution control data to measure CSP, based on a sample of Taiwanese listed companies during the period from 1996 to 2006. The results of the empirical analysis provide firm support for the idea that the divergence between control rights and the cash (...)

    Self-Cognition? Saṃghabhadra, Armstrong, and Introspective Consciousness.Chih-Chiang Hu - 2018 - Philosophy East and West 68 (3):702-720.
This paper at first presents Saṃghabhadra's core argument against reflexive self-cognition and extracts a reflective model of cognition from Saṃghabhadra's work. Second, from the perspective of this model, we aim to elaborate on D. M. Armstrong's idea of introspective consciousness and so-called higher-order perception theory of consciousness. We assume that our model of consciousness is reflective, perceptual, causal and fallible, contingently private, and theory-laden. Third, to explore the potential of this reflective model, we try to bring out its implications and (...)
