This research sought to evaluate the impact of a gamified resource program on inclusive education learning and the strengthening of inclusive skills in university students in the city of Machala, Ecuador; focusing on knowledge and understanding. The research has a quantitative approach, with a quasi-experimental design, used an Educational Inclusion questionnaire with multiple options which was based on a Likert scale, was used as a data collection instrument, with a representative sample of 60 students of the seventh semester of the (...) Pedagogy of Experimental Sciences career. After the implementation of the learning sessions, a significant improvement was observed in the experimental group, evidenced by an increase in the "Achieved" category and a significant reduction in the "Start" category. Inferential analysis showed that the program had a significant impact compared to the control group, with a significance level of 0.001. In conclusion, the program proved to be an effective tool to strengthen the dimension of knowledge and understanding in university students, thus contributing to Sustainable Development Goal number 4 on quality education. The situations of disability of students in public and private universities in Ecuador and the use of inclusive policies represent a point of analysis and institutional application worthy of research. Through the implementation and evaluation of these policies, it is intended to guarantee equitable access to education, while promoting an inclusive academic environment. The research aimed to determine the relationship between inclusive policies and the permanence of students with disabilities at the University of Guayaquil during the fiscal period 2023, through (...) a quantitative approach, non-experimental design, correlational scope, and cross-sectional section. The adaptation of perception instruments on inclusive policies and student permanence was used, which were validated by experts in addition to establishing adequate reliability indices, for a total sample of 113 students. Among its results, it evidenced a medium perception of inclusive policies with 56.64% by students, about their application in higher education institutions; in relation to the perception of student permanence, a mean perception of 62.83% by students corresponded. Likewise, a positive and significant relationship was denoted between both inclusive policies and the permanence of students with disabilities in the university. In conclusion, as the application of inclusive policies is perceived, the permanence of students with disabilities is guaranteed. (shrink)

Aristotle regarded highly the concept of friendship. For him, friendship—being one of the virtues just like truth, justice, courage, etc.—is something that affects not just human behavior but even the state’s as well . However, the English language has set a limit to its use and thus diminished its meaning. While the Greek for friendship, which is φιλια can be translated as love, when using the English language one cannot say that as A and B are friends, it must be (...) that A and B are lovers. But for the Greeks, A and B are friends, if and only if, A and B are lovers. In fact, φιλια is where half of the word philosophy comes from. Why is it that even when tracing the etymology of philosophy, one uses “love of wisdom” instead of “friend of wisdom?” This is not the case for Aristotle. Aside from just regarding highly friendship by considering it as affecting the individual and the collective’s behavior toward others, Aristotle goes further by claiming that friendship is a necessary ingredient, not just to have an orderly life and state, but in order to have a eudaimon life, i.e., a happy life. Thus, for Aristotle, without friendship, a person cannot be happy. (shrink)

Este artículo examina la manera en que la obra de arte pictórico, los museos y la imagen arquitectónica, devocional y popular se manifiestan en los ensayos literarios de Pedro Gómez Valderrama. Para ello, 1) se discute la diferencia entre las funciones crítica y literaria de la écfrasis, 2) se abordan diversos textos ensayísticos del escritor colombiano y 3) se postula la presencia de la écfrasis en el ensayo como uno de los rasgos de su inscripción estética y valoración literaria.

Sostiene el autor que en la cosmovisión de las sociedades indígenas no existe el concepto de desarrollo, menos como algo a transitar por las personas para la consecución de bienestar; y tampoco los conceptos de riqueza y pobreza determinados por la acumulación y carencia de bienes materiales. Sí existe una visión holística a cerca de lo que debe ser el objetivo o la misión de todo esfuerzo humano, que consiste en buscar y crear las condiciones materiales y espirituales para construir (...) y mantener una ‘vida armónica’. This chapter offers some insight into Spinoza's understanding of the concept of potentia. As is well known amongst scholars, the concept of potentia is fundamental for Spinoza. From ontology, to ethics and politics, the concept of potentia seems to embody the unity of Spinoza's thought. Unlike E1p9, Spinoza focuses on the independence or in the per se nature of the intelligibility of each attribute. The demonstration of the proposition recalls both the definition of the attribute and the definition of substance (...) as explanations. Having more reality, Spinoza states, means having more powers or strength, that is, more potentia to exist. The chapter shows that Spinoza's radical ontology of power emerges in the propositions preparing the consideration of God's necessary existence, namely E1p9–10. (shrink)

Centro mi atención en el hecho de que las variables dinámicas usualmente están asociadas a objetos materiales en las teorías físicas. El tensor métrico de la Teoría General de la Relatividad (TGR) es un objeto dinámico así que —sostengo— este debe ser mejor entendido como un campo material en toda regla. Este argumento me lleva a vincular la naturaleza relacional del espaciotiempo (...) a las dificultades para formular una genuina ley de conservación de energía-momento en la TGR.I will try to dismantle the widespread impression that a relational account of spacetime is not possible. I concentrate on the fact that dynamical variables are usually linked to material objects in physical theories. The metric tensor field of GR is a dynamical object so, I claim, it should be viewed as a matter field. The argument links the relational ontological status of spacetime to the failure to provide a genuine law of energy-momentum conservation within General Relativity. (shrink)

Este artículo se ocupa de la primera recepción de la obra de Nicolás Gómez Dávila, que se encuentra en la presentación que de él hizo Hernando Téllez en la revista Mito. El artículo analiza la aparición de las formas argumentativas breves en la revista colombiana Mito y, en particular, el uso que le dieron allí Hernando Téllez y Nicolás Gómez Dávila. En primer término, se discuten las relaciones de ambos autores con formas como el escolio, el aforismo, la entrada de (...) diario y el ensayo. Luego, se examina el uso de formas marginales en la revista Mito por autores como Alfonso Reyes, Jorge Gaitán Durán y Rafael Gutiérrez Girardot. Por último, se analiza la aparición de textos argumentativos de Téllez y Gómez Dávila en la revista para establecer un diálogo entre los dos principales cultivadores de la forma argumentativa breve en la literatura colombiana de los años cincuenta. ¿Es el espacio una entidad física real en toda regla o se trata simplemente de un conjunto de relaciones entre objetos materiales coexistentes? Esta pregunta sobre el estatus ontológico del espacio físico enfrentó a Leibniz y Newton. Mientras que Leibniz cuestionó la identidad de las partes del espacio, Newton pudo cargar a la tradición relacional originada en Leibniz con el problema de la inercia. La importancia de la estructura inercial en esta discusión fue reconocida por Mach y sus críticas fueron (...) adoptadas como una especie de credo relacional por Einstein. De la mano de los protagonistas más destacados en este debate, se muestra que la identidad de las partes del espacio absoluto, frecuentemente discutida en artículos sobre el tema, es casi irrelevante al lado del problema del origen de la estructura inercial. Para esto incluyo una breve presentación de la representación neo-newtoniana de la dinámica clásica. (shrink)

El artículo presenta un análisis sobre la incorporación de los ODS en la producción de follajes y el riesgo químico al que están expuestos los trabajadores por la utilización de agroquímicos a través de una revisión documental y un análisis anova. El objetivo se enfoca en la caracterización de productores e incorporación de los ODS a los procesos logísticos de producción de follaje para mitigar el impacto ambiental. La investigación refleja que el 83% de la población objeto de estudio desconoce (...) los ODS; de ahí la importancia de crear programas que capaciten los empresarios en desarrollo sostenible. La invitación hecha en el segundo semestre de 2022 para participar en este dosier de Co-herencia suponía, entonces, por un lado, el sometimiento de los comentarios de Volkening a la obra en proceso de Gómez Dávila a un primer escrutinio crítico y, por el otro, la apertura a la discusión sobre crítica literaria y el pensamiento en Colombia y a consideraciones sobre formas alternativas de escritura crítica, como las ofrecidas por el ensayo literario, el diario y los géneros marginales y (...) fragmentarios. El llamado invitaba a considerar la pertinencia de un tema lleno de posibilidades, que permite relacionar la pregunta por la escritura, la lectura, la institucionalización y la recepción literaria con las perspectivas que prodiga un diálogo entre dos intelectuales colombianos, actualizado gracias a su publicación casi medio siglo después. Surgía de este modo la opción de descubrir, no solo un objeto de estudio de interés, sino también nuevos caminos críticos para los problemas del campo literario, editorial e intelectual colombiano. El uso de diversos recursos plásticos insinúa una hipótesis de sentido en su trabajo: el artista opera como un traductor, como alguien que transita entre diversos sistemas de (...) representación y construcción, los cuales se revisan en sus implicaciones ideológicas y políticas. Este artículo examina la aparición de motivos distópicos en la obra de Ricardo Piglia. Se discuten las afirmaciones sobre narración y poder en “Teoría del complot” y otros ensayos del autor, y las referencias a poder policial y narración en Los diarios de Emilio Renzi y La ciudad ausente. Esto, para señalar que Piglia adelanta una lectura distópica de la historia argentina y latinoamericana. Tal lectura tiene sus bases visuales y narrativas en una tradición novelística y cinematográfica distópica que no (...) ha sido suficientemente reconocida en los trabajos sobre el escritor argentino. Con la reciente publicación de los Diarios y la aparición póstuma de libros de conferencias y entrevistas de Piglia, esa línea de lectura cobra relevancia. (shrink)

En partant d’une remarque dans Différence et répétition au sujet de l’ontologie spinozienne, nous interrogeons à la fois le problème du temps et de l’éternité chez Spinoza et la genèse de l’ontologie deleuzienne de la différence dans la mesure où elle s’affirme comme héritière de l’affirmation spinozienne de l’univocité de l’être.

An exploration of the theories, histories, practices, and contradictions of liberalism today. What does it mean to be a liberal in neoliberal times? This collection of short essays attempts to show how liberals and the wider concept of liberalism remain relevant in what many perceive to be a highly illiberal age. Liberalism in the broader sense revolves around tolerance, progress, humanitarianism, objectivity, reason, democracy, and human rights. Liberalism's emphasis on individual rights opened a theoretical pathway to neoliberalism, through private property, (...) a classically minimal liberal state, and the efficiency of “free markets.” In practice, neoliberalism is associated less with the economic deregulation championed by its advocates than the re-regulation of the economy to protect financial capital. Liberalism in Neoliberal Times engages with the theories, histories, practices, and contradictions of liberalism, viewing it in relation to four central areas of public life: human rights, ethnicity and gender, education, and the media. It seems natural to think of an unwilling addict as having a pattern of preferences that she does not endorse—preferences that, in some sense, she does not ‘identify’ with. Following Frankfurt (1971), Jeffrey (1974) proposed a way of modeling those features of an agent’s preferences by appealing to preferences among preferences.Th„e addict’s preferences are preferences she does not prefer to have. I argue that this modeling suggestion will not do, for it follows from plausible assumptions that a minimally rational agent (...) must prefer those first-order preferences she actually has. Purpose: This systematic review aimed to analyze the impact that the COVID-19 lockdown had on the amount of physical activity performed by university students.Materials and Methods: A systematic electronic search for studies providing information regarding physical activity levels pre and during COVID-19 pandemic in university students was performed up to 20th October 2020 in the databases Cochrane Library, PubMed, SPORTDiscus, and Web of Science. The risk of bias of external validity quality of included studies was assessed by means of those (...) the Newcastle-Ottawa Scale. The quality of the evidence for main outcomes was graded using the Grading of Recommendations Assessment, Development and Evaluation approach.Results and Conclusions: A total of 10 studies were selected. Physical activity levels were assessed by means of questionnaires and accelerometer. Risk of bias was regarded as low and high in six and four investigations, respectively. The quality of evidence was downgraded to low. A significant reduction of physical activity levels were observed in 9 studies. Compared to pre-lockdown values, five studies showed a reduction of light/mild physical activity between 32.5 and 365.5%, while seven studies revealed a reduction of high/vigorous physical activity between 2.9 and 52.8%. Walking, moderate, vigorous, and total physical activity levels have been reduced during the COVID-19 pandemic confinements in university students of different countries. Despite of the reductions, those who met the current minimum PA recommendations before the lockdown generally met the recommendations also during the confinements. (shrink)

In the Origin of Species (1859), Darwin argued that his revolutionary theory of evolution by natural selection represented a significant breakthrough in the understanding of instinctive behaviour. However, many aspects in the development of his thinking on behavioural phenomena indicate that the explanation of this particular organic feature was by no means an easy one, but that it posed an authentic challenge – something that Darwin himself always recognized. This paper explores Darwin’s treatment of instincts within his theory of natural (...) selection. Particular attention is given to elucidate how he tackled the difficulties of explaining instincts as evolving mental features. He had to explain and demonstrate its inheritance, variation, and gradual accumulation within populations. The historical and philosophical aspects of his theory are highlighted, as well as his study of the case in which the explanation of instincts represented a ‘special difficulty’; that is, the sterile castes of social insects. Cultural evolution is normally framed in informational terms. However, it is not clear whether this is an adequate way to model cultural evolutionary phenomena and what, precisely, “information” is supposed to mean in this context. Would cultural evolutionary theory benefit from a well-developed theory of cultural information? The prevailing sentiment is that, in contradistinction to biology, informational language should be used nontechnically in this context for descriptive, but not explanatory, purposes. Against this view, this article makes the case for the (...) need to take a proper biology-based “informational turn” in the cultural evolutionary sciences. I argue that the current vague use of informational language misses out on the potential benefits for advancing understanding of phenomena that information-theoretic reasoning has provided in other sciences, especially genetics. In particular, by emphasizing the informational aspects of cultural evolutionary processes, this approach can clarify some conceptual and methodological problems that have plagued cultural evolutionary theory since its inception, including (1) how to determine the channel conditions of cultural information flow, (2) the nature and scope of cultural information, and (3) how to quantify trends of cultural cumulation. More generally, theories of cultural evolution will be incomplete until the mechanisms underlying cultural processes are better understood and integrated into the explanations. This article explores the adequacy of an information-theoretic framework to accomplish these purposes. (shrink)

Fact-checking agencies assess and score the truthfulness of politicians’ claims to foster their electoral accountability. Fact-checking is sometimes presented as a quasi-scientific activity, based on reproducible verification protocols that would guarantee an unbiased assessment. We will study these verification protocols and discuss under which conditions fact-checking could achieve effective reproducibility. Through an analysis of the methodological norms in verification protocols, we will argue that achieving reproducible fact-checking may not help much in rendering politicians accountable. Political fact-checkers do not deliver either (...) reproducibility or accountability today, and there are reasons to think that traditional quality journalism may serve liberal democracies better. FDE is a logic that captures relevant entailment between implication-free formulae and admits of an intuitive informational interpretation as a 4-valued logic in which “a computer should think”. However, the logic is co-NP complete, and so an idealized model of how an agent can think. We address this issue by shifting to signed formulae where the signs express imprecise values associated with two distinct bipartitions of the set of standard 4 values. Thus, we present a proof system which consists of (...) linear operational rules and only two branching structural rules, the latter expressing a generalized rule of bivalence. This system naturally leads to defining an infinite hierarchy of tractable depth-bounded approximations to FDE. Elaborar un documento de análisis jurídico crítico que evidencie como la incidencia del despido intempestivo vulnera los derechos laborales Constitucionales en el Ecuador. El artículo fue una revisión sistemática con un diseño transversal. Para la busqueda de información se utilizó las principales platafomas digitalez (...) con evidencia científica en el campo jurídico, además de establecer criterios de inclusión y exclusión para obtener la información con mayor relevancia al estudio. De acuerdo con los casos analizados se evidenció que los despidos intempestivos se los realiza sin una justificación clara, que motive la desvinculación del trabajador vulnerando su derecho a tener una estabilidad laboral, un trabajo digno. A pesar de que la Constitución y las leyes laborales establecen claras protecciones para los trabajadores, la realidad demuestró que estas normativas no siempre se aplican de manera efectiva, lo que no solo socava el derecho a la estabilidad laboral y un trabajo digno, sino que también limita el acceso a la justicia, afectando el bienestar tanto económico como psicoemocional de los dependientes, destacando la necesidad urgente de fortalecer los mecanismos de protección laboral, garantizando la aplicación rigurosa de las leyes existentes en Ecuador. Una sociedad que se preocupa por fortalecer la idea de que nadie puede interferir en nuestras convicciones, acaba finalmente generando individuos acríticos incapaces de autonomía reflexiva y, en esta medida, se incumple la primera condición de una ciudadanía libre. Si pluralidad no significa arbitrariedad, sino sólo que no hay una única razón práctica, entonces lo que hay que hacer no es relegar la razón práctica al ámbito privado, sino mostrar la existencia de otras razones para tambalear la seguridad de las (...) convicciones particulares y así promover cierta inhospitalidad que ponga constantemente a prueba las convicciones más personales. The modern obsession with safety (which ranges from extreme fear of germs to xenophobia) ends in isolation. In this paper, we explore what is behind of this concern with safety, the metaphors that surround it (which come from immunology), and a way to escape from fear using the Deleuzian idea of nomadic ethics as a point of departure. From a contemporary perspective of how immune systems work, we rethink the metaphors used to describe it: as far as new characterizations of (...) immunity arise, there is a need to approach a notion of non-defensive, non-reactive answers to the ever-changing demands of a world in motion, of becoming. It implies rethinking alterity, the need to embrace it instead of avoiding it, and the need to understand its importance, the way in which it makes us humans. We will argue that nomadic ethics require a nomadic epistemology, an acknowledgement that a full understanding and control of reality may be beyond our reach, and therefore an acceptance of partial, tentative, and diverse forms of knowledge. Axel Honneth is, without a doubt, heir to a tradition of social and political thought that was decisive in the Marxist debates of the 20th century; critical theory. As an outstanding disciple of Jürgen Habermas, he denounced a sociological deficit in his teacher's theory of communicative action, while continuing a certain recovery of Hegel that Habermas made evident in his text: Work and interaction: notes on Hegelian philosophy of the Jena period (1986).
