Intellectual disability leads to a loss of autonomy and a high level of dependence, requiring support from another person permanently. Therefore, it is necessary to incorporate the assessment of caregiver burden in healthcare actions, to avoid putting the health of caregivers and patients at risk. In this sense, the study aimed to analyze the internal structure of the Zarit Burden Interview (ZBI) in a sample of caregivers of people with intellectual disabilities, to provide convergent and discriminant evidence with a measure (...) of the risk of maltreatment, and to estimate the reliability of the scores from the Classical Test Theory and the Rasch Measurement Theory. The study was instrumental. The sample consisted of 287 Peruvian informal primary caregivers of persons diagnosed with intellectual disabilities. To collect validity evidence, the internal structure (confirmatory factor analysis, CFA) and the relationship with other variables (convergent and discriminant evidence) were used, while reliability was estimated through the omega coefficient and Rasch analysis. The internal structure of the ZBI corroborated a unidimensional structure. In terms of convergent and discriminant evidence, the scale presents adequate evidence. Reliability levels were also good. Previously, the psychometric properties of the ZBI have not been studied in caregivers of people with intellectual disabilities, and it represents the first study of the scale in Peru. The results obtained will allow the use of this scale to design actions in the work with caregivers and studies to understand the psychology of the caregiver. (shrink)

Since at least Hume and Kant, philosophers working on the nature of aesthetic judgment have generally agreed that common sense does not treat aesthetic judgments in the same way as typical expressions of subjective preferences—rather, it endows them with intersubjective validity, the property of being right or wrong regardless of disagreement. Moreover, this apparent intersubjective validity has been taken to constitute one of the main explananda for philosophical accounts of aesthetic judgment. But is it really the case that most people (...) spontaneously treat aesthetic judgments as having intersubjective validity? In this paper, we report the results of a cross‐cultural study with over 2,000 respondents spanning 19 countries. Despite significant geographical variations, these results suggest that most people do not treat their own aesthetic judgments as having intersubjective validity. We conclude by discussing the implications of our findings for theories of aesthetic judgment and the purpose of aesthetics in general. (shrink)

El objetivo de esta investigación, desarrollada en el contexto de educación virtual, fue mejorar las competencias investigativas de estudiantes universitarios. Este estudio cualitativo y de diseño investigación-acción se basó en un diagnóstico inicial con el que se identificó plagio académico, además de una autopercepción de nivel medio o bajo respecto de las habilidades investigativas de los alumnos. Durante la ejecución de las estrategias diseñadas, se aplicaron las técnicas de focus group y análisis documental de los ensayos estudiantiles. Con las agrupaciones musicales escolares se requiere previamente activar las técnicas de audición e interpretación de forma individual para lograr en el grupo, aptitudes motoras, perceptivas, cognitivas y activar procesos afectivos y de socialización. De esta forma, la atención a la diversidad no quedaría excluida. La música, en definitiva, favorece el desarrollo de la persona en todas sus dimensiones, lo cual redunda en (...) una mejora de la calidad de vida y es un gran avance a nivel personal, familiar, escolar, clínico y social. From a gender perspective, female immigrant domestic caregivers have been particularly impacted during the COVID-19 pandemic: first, as female immigrants, and second, due to their work within the domestic care sector, which has been so badly affected in this pandemic. This study investigates the emotions and experiences of 15 female Latin American immigrant domestic workers, caregivers in five Andalusian cities who were cohabiting with their employees/patients during the COVID-19 pandemic lockdown, using qualitative research through in-depth interviews and life stories. The (...) results show the moral debt accrued by the caregivers with the family who employ them, while worsening the physical and psychological health of many of the caregivers, due to both work overload and fear of the global pandemic. Thus, we will review the Latin text of Saint Martha’s Life assigned to Marcelle, that of The Golden Legend of Voragine, four Catalan versions of Life—manuscript of the BnF, manuscript of El Escorial, manuscript of Vic and the incunabula Flos sanctorum romançat —and the poem in Anglo-Norman by Nicole Bozon La vie seint Martha. The comparative analysis (...) of the representation of the dragon in the versions listed above will lead us, secondly, to question the function of the Tarasque in the texts of Saint Martha’s Life analysed. La afirmación de que las reglas jurídicas son derrotables significa que, de acuerdo con nuestras prácticas jurídicas, puede estar justificado que los jueces dejen de lado las normas aplicables en la resolución de disputas y tengan en cuenta en su lugar otras consideraciones. En línea con este enfoque, este trabajo busca esclarecer los tipos de casos y las condiciones en las que, de acuerdo con nuestras convenciones asentadas, es aceptable que los jueces se desvíen de lo establecido en las reglas (...) jurídicas. En concreto, en el artículo se diferencian tres tipos distintos de derrotabilidad: D1 ; D2, y D3. Finalmente el artículo aborda la cuestión de si podemos considerar como jurídicas las consideraciones alternativas a las que los jueces deben apelar cuando estiman que deben dejar de lado las reglas prima facie aplicables. El trabajo concluye apuntando que la clave para trazar los límites entre el Derecho dúctil y el Derecho arbitrario descansa en una respuesta afirmativa a esta última pregunta. (shrink)

Cet article vise à montrer comment l’École polytechnique et l’École d’application de l’artillerie et du génie de Metz ont influencé l’Académie d’ingénieurs militaires de Madrid en tant que modèles inspirant des plans d’études et manuels mathématiques tout au long du xixe siècle. Concernant les manuels, les premières traductions espagnoles des œuvres de Monge et de Lacroix ont marqué une tendance qui a entraîné d’autres traductions, appropriations et œuvres originales sur la base d’une sélection rigoureuse de différentes sources françaises. Quant aux (...) plans d’études, l’intérêt d’élever le niveau mathématique des ingénieurs militaires apparaît clairement en 1816 et se développe entre 1839 et 1870, lorsque l’estime des ingénieurs militaires espagnols envers les écoles françaises susmentionnées en tant que modèles à suivre est documentée. El argumento de contigüidad ontológica, utilizado en varios pasajes de la Opera Omnia tomasiana, expresa la existencia de una afinidad metafísica entre los seres del universo, según la cual la realidad es comprendida jerárquicamente como una analogía de entes que se ordenan en cascadas descendentes hasta el último grado: cada nivel entitativo inferior tiene su origen en la atenuación del grado superior inmediato. Dicho argumento se hace presente en el contexto del conocimiento humano, en cuanto el alma humana “toca” al (...) ser que le antecede inmediatamente al participar en su perfección última, más precisamente en su capacidad intelectual. La contigüidad se manifiesta en las especulaciones que lleva a cabo el Aquinate acerca de las facultades humanas y de sus elementos y objetos propios. Este particular estudio, además del análisis gnoseológico humano específico, requiere la comparación entre las posibilidades de conocimiento de los entes que componen la cadena jerárquica de lo creado. De este modo, se pueden visualizar aquellos puntos de unión que enlazan cada nivel de ser con el contiguo anterior y con el subsiguiente, según lo mentado por este principio. (shrink)

Una de las pasiones humanas más fuertes es la tendencia natural a buscar la verdad, inclinación que puede expresarse como relación intencional originaria de la persona con la realidad en toda su amplitud, sin poner límites extrínsecos al saber en sí. Siendo el conocimiento científico una concreción particular de esta aspiración nativa a buscar la verdad total mantiene, a quien lo practica movido por esa pasión, abierto, casi incitado, a continuar la búsqueda sin establecer a priori límites a su natural (...) desembocadura. Está, por tanto, en sintonía con el imput que ha dado vida al quehacer científico que el investigador se deje mover por el mensaje que le presentan los datos y resultados de su trabajo, sin cerrarse a ulteriores investigaciones, pensando que la ciencia es la única forma de saber. La actividad científica se muestra entonces capaz de conducir al hombre hacia los fundamentos de la realidad natural, y de acompañarle en su apertura a la trascendencia. Separada de la filosofía en el plano vital, declarada autosuficiente, la ciencia ha sido un factor de deshumanización. A su vez, la filosofía, distanciándose de los saberes científicos, rehusando entrar en diálogo con ellos, ha perdido vitalidad. El trabajo de Niels Stensen, científico danés del siglo XVII, pionero en algunos ámbitos del saber experimental, ofrece un ejemplo paradigmático de un hacer científico en relación vital con la filosofía y con la fe, sin menoscabo de las legítimas exigencias de autonomía metodológica. A través del presente trabajo se aborda el papel de la musicoterapia en la enfermedad de alzheimer (EA) desde el ámbito del trabajo social. Para ello, se lleva a cabo una revisión bibliográfica y se identifican conceptos claves como musicoterapia, EA e intervención del trabajo social. La información recogida lleva a considerar la musicoterapia como tratamiento coadyuvante en la enfermedad de Alzheimer a través de áreas como la integración social, la autoestima, la comunicación o la reducción del estrés. Este artículo tiene como objetivo desarrollar el pensamiento crítico y actitudes cívicas sobre los derechos humanos en la infancia con el álbum ilustrado. Para ello, se explica la conjunción entre lenguaje textual y visual del álbum y su aprovechamiento para desarrollar la educación literaria, plástica y en valores. Se analizan cuatro títulos con los que realizar mediación educativa en Educación Infantil relacionada con los derechos humanos. Finalmente, se concluye que el álbum es una herramienta pedagógica idónea para fomentar la lectura (...) literaria, la alfabetización visual y la creación de una futura ciudadanía crítica, empática y consciente de los derechos humanos. The present work examines the role of persuasive lexicon in legal discourse through the analysis of emotional devices at a lexical and rhetorical level. Our preliminary premise is that emotion is deployed by experts to convey the sentiment of shared values and epistemic trust: the need to rely on the tenets of the law as fair and conducive to the common good. The corpus of our study is constituted by the conclusions in their original Spanish, and their translation into English, (...) by the Advocate General Manuel Campos on the challenge by Hungary and Poland of the regulation establishing a “conditionality regime” in the event of a rule-of-law breach in a EU Member State. To this end, we undertake a two-pronged analysis of legal persuasion to find out what emotional devices are deployed to convey the rule-of-law principles of justice, non-discrimination, equality and solidarity. At a first stage, we concentrate upon the polarity and intensity of emotion words and their categories. Emotional implicatures in the shape of legal technolects and metaphorical ontologies and the way they are deployed in each text constitutes the second part of our study. Among our conclusions are that both the original and target texts have a strong persuasive character, mainly grounded in the negative emotion of fear and the positive emotion of trust, and that there are variances in the emotional language deployed in either version due to the different mechanics of each law system and to functional differences between English and Spanish. According to the broaden-and-build theory of positive emotions, the frequency of positive emotions is associated with the development of positive attitudes, cognitions, and behaviors in organizational contexts. However, positive and negative attitudes at work might also be influenced by different personal and job resources. While emotional intelligence has been significantly associated with positive job attitudes and personal well-being, no studies have yet examined the joint role of teacher happiness and emotional intelligence in key teacher job attitudes. The present study assesses (...) whether emotional intelligence interacts with levels of teacher happiness to jointly explain important teacher job attitudes. A total sample of 685 teaching professionals filled out a battery of scales including subjective happiness, emotional intelligence, job satisfaction, and turnover intention. Our results revealed that subjective happiness was significantly associated with both higher job satisfaction and lower turnover intention. Likewise, emotional intelligence was positively related to happiness and job satisfaction, and negatively related to turnover intention. Finally, interaction analysis showed the main effects of happiness and emotional intelligence in explaining teacher job attitudes. Beyond the main effects, the interaction effects of happiness and emotional intelligence were significant in predicting all teachers' job attitude indicators, even controlling for the effects of their sociodemographic variables. This work expands our knowledge about the role of teachers' positive emotions in the development of positive work attitudes, and also supports the inclusion of emotional skills in future teacher preparation programs as resources to facilitate work-related well-being. Asimismo, presentaremos la dimensión creadora del lenguaje, relevante desde el Unamuno contemplativo, y el papel desempeñado por el diálo go a la hora de expresar los dos poíos del conflicto, agónico y contem plativo.
