Group-orientated supervision is provided continually to student nurses during their education. In the supervision process it is necessary to create a relationship between the supervisor and the supervisee that is based on an ethical, trusting relationship. The aim of the study was to investigate supervisors’ (n = 18) experiences of the ethical dimensions of ongoing group-orientated supervision. An additional aim was to describe the supervisors’ values by which they are guided in supervision. Data were collected by means of an open-ended (...) questionnaire and analysed using the hermeneutic transformative process. The findings revealed the following themes: respect and responsibility; carefulness and sensitivity; reflection and confirmation; and genuineness and fairness. The values guiding the supervisors were dignity, normative ethics, privacy and confidentiality. (shrink)

Artykuł jest obroną przed zarzutami postawionymi wobec mojego poprzedniego tekstu, w którym wskazywałem, że powody do niewiary u nonresistant nonbelievers mają w swej istocie źródła błędów moralnych. W kolejności staram się odpowiedzieć na następujące zarzuty: 1) że postrzegam przekonania religijne w sposób niekognitywny, co jest niezgodne z tradycyjnym podejściem chrześcijańskim; 2) że, głoszę z jednej strony woluntaryzm przekonaniowy, a z drugiej strony obwiniam niewierzących za ich decyzje; 3) że odwołując się do naturalnego poznania Boga, nie wyjaśniam satysfakcjonująco przyczyn niewiary; 4) (...) że w błędny sposób wykluczam z grupy anonimowych chrześcijan osoby niewierzące, żyjące we współczesnym świecie; 5) że w sposób niejasny wpisuję ideę grzechu społecznego w osobistą winę, jaką ponoszą osoby niewierzące za swoją niewiarę. The paper provides an analysis and interpretation of selected literary texts by Ewa Lipska, with particular focus on poems: 11 września 2001 [September 11th, 2001] and Kopalnia [The Mine]. In these metapoetic poems, Lipska makes use of jewellery imagery in order to emphasise the processuality of an act of creation, its ethical ambivalence, and its complex sources. The offered interpretations refer, among other things, to theses by Carl Gustav Jung and Pierre Marc de Biasi. Analysing the way in which the (...) poet uses motifs of gemstones and metaphors with a jewel – and also demonstrating strategies of the literary refining of poems – the author of this paper challenges the hypothesis of the end of the ‘goldsmith convention’ in contemporary Polish poetry. The accumulation of potentially toxic elements (PTEs) has raised public awareness due to harmful contamination to both human and marine creatures. This study was designed to determine the concentration of copper (Cu), zinc (Zn), cadmium (Cd), and nickel (Ni) in the intestine, kidney, muscle, gill, and liver tissues of local commercial edible fish, fourfinger threadfin (Eleutheronema tetradactylum), and black pomfret (Parastromateus niger) collected from Morib (M) and Kuala Selangor (KS). Among the studied PTEs, Cu and Zn were essential elements to (...) regulate body metabolism with certain dosages required while Cd and Ni were considered as non-essential elements that posed chronic and carcinogenic risk. The concentration of PTEs in fish tissue samples was analyzed using flame atomic absorption spectrometry (F-AAS). By comparing the concentration of PTEs in fish tissues as a bioindicator, the environmental risk of Morib was more serious than Kuala Selangor because both fish species collected from Morib resulted in a higher PTEs concentration. For an average 62 kg adult with a fish ingestion rate (FIR) of 0.16 kg/person/day in Malaysia, the estimated weekly intake (EWI) of Cd from the consumption of E. tetradactylum (M: 0.0135 mg/kg; KS: 0.0134 mg/kg) and P. niger (M: 0.0140 mg/kg; KS: 0.0132 mg/kg) had exceeded the provisional tolerable weekly intake (Cd: 0.007 mg/kg) established by the Joint FAO/WHO Expert Committee on Food Additives (JECFA) and oral reference dose (ORD) values of Cd (0.001 mg/kg/day) as provided by the United States Environmental Protection Agency (USEPA) regional screening level, thus it posed chronic risks for daily basis consumption. Besides, the value of the carcinogenic risk of Cd (0.7−3 to 0.8−3) and Ni (0.5−3 to 0.6−3) were in between the acceptable range (10−6 to 10−4) of the health index that indicates a relatively low possibility cancer occurrence to the consumers in both Morib and Kuala Selangor. This study recommended FIR to be 0.80 kg/person/day to reduce the possibility of posing chronic and carcinogenic risks while at the same time obtaining the essential nutrients from the fish. Performance is an essential part of music education; however, many music professionals and students suffer from music performance anxiety (MPA). The purpose of this study was to investigate whether a 10-minute expressive writing intervention (EWI) can effectively reduce performance anxiety and improve overall performance outcomes in college-level piano students. Two groups of music students (16 piano major students and 19 group/secondary piano students) participated in the study. Piano major students performed a solo work from memory, while group/secondary piano students took (...) a sight-reading exam of an eight-measure piano musical selection. All students performed twice, at baseline and post-EWI, with two or three days between performances. During the EWI phase, students were randomly divided into two groups: an expressive writing group and a control group. Students in the expressive writing group wrote down feelings and thoughts about their upcoming performances, while students in the control group wrote about a topic unrelated to performing. Each student’s pulse was recorded immediately before performing, and each performance was videotaped. Three independent judges evaluated the recordings using a modified version of the Observational Scale for Piano Practicing (OSPP) by Gruson (1988). The results revealed that, by simply writing out their thoughts and feelings right before performing, students who had high MPA improved their performance quality significantly and reduced their MPA significantly. Streszczając podstawowe ustalenia książki, wskazuję na bogactwo interpretowanych w niej teorii i odautorskie ujęcia współczesnych nurtów ekonomii ekologicznej i teorii dewzrostowych. Podkreślam jej istotność jako przekonującej recepty na to, jak można skutecznie włączyć nauki humanistyczne i społeczne w debatę na temat katastrofy klimatycznej i sposobów na odwrócenie dewastowania społecznego świata. Recenzowana książka przekonuje, że dzisiaj, jak nigdy wcześniej, potrzebujemy humanistyki, która chce zmieniać świat, dobrze zorientowanej we współczesności, jednocześnie eksperckiej i popkulturowej. 9 grudnia 2023 roku w Instytucie Filozofii Uniwersytetu Kardynała Stefana Wyszyńskiego w Warszawie miała miejsce ogólnopolska konferencja naukowa pt. Oblicza współczesnej etyki. Sympozjum połączone było z jubileuszem pracy naukowej i dydaktycznej ks. prof. dr. hab. Ryszarda Monia i dr hab. Ewy Podrez. W trakcie konferencji wygłoszono dziewięć referatów, które dotyczyły rozumienia etyki w filozofii chrześcijańskiej, zagadnienia powinności i normatywności etycznej, antropologicznych podstaw etyki, dialogu między etyką a literaturą, postrzegania wartości dumy i honoru dawniej i dziś, wartości w społeczeństwie zmęczenia oraz (...) etyki miłości, jaką wypracował Dante Alighieri. ----------------------------------------- Zgłoszono: 04/01/2024.
