Space-Time Grains: Roots of Special and Doubly Special Relativity.Petr Jizba & Fabio Scardigli - 2014 - Foundations of Physics 44 (5):512-522.
We show that the special relativistic dynamics when combined with quantum mechanics and the concept of superstatistics can be interpreted as arising from two interlocked non-relativistic stochastic processes that operate at different energy scales. This interpretation leads to Feynman amplitudes that are in the Euclidean regime identical to transition probability of a Brownian particle propagating through a granular space. Some kind of spacetime granularity could be therefore held responsible for the emergence at larger scales of various symmetries. For illustration we (...)

    A Quantum-Like Description of the Planetary Systems.Fabio Scardigli - 2007 - Foundations of Physics 37 (8):1278-1295.
The Titius–Bode law for planetary distances is reviewed. A model describing the basic features of this rule in the “quantum-like” language of a wave equation is proposed. Some considerations about the ’t Hooft idea on the quantum behavior of deterministic systems with dissipation are discussed.

A Quantum Effect in the Classical Limit: Non-equilibrium Tunneling in the Duffing OscillatorAlec Maassen van den BrinkRCAS, Academia Sinica, Taiwanemail: [email protected] Duffing model is an oscillator with weak near-resonant driving, damping, and nonlinearity. For certain parameters, the stationary amplitude and phase bifurcate depending on initial conditions, and vary widely from one stable branch to the other. Due to this sensitivity, the system can be used for constructing detection devices. In recent years, an implementation using superconducting devices—the so-called Josephson bifurcation amplifier (JBA)—has (...)

Eternity Between Space and Time: From Consciousness to the Cosmos.Ines Testoni, Fabio Scardigli, Andrea Toniolo & Gabriele Gionti S. J. (eds.) - 2024 - De Gruyter.
Philosophers, theologians, physicists, and psychologists join their efforts to reflect on the crucial issues of limit and infinity, time and eternity, empty space and material space. The volume offers an invaluable contribution to some of the most important issues of our times: questions on God and consciousness are discussed in parallel with quantum theory, black holes, the inflationary universe, the Big Bang, and string theory, from different perspectives and angles, ranging from neuroscience to AI.
