Il défend la thèse selon laquelle une science dont toute expérience serait bannie ne pourrait pas exister. Dans la troisième de ces brochures, il montre que la proposition des parallèles n'est pas une thèse qui peut ětre déduite, mais un véritable postulat. L'auteur suppose dans sa recherche — exactement comme M. Gonseth — l'expérience ainsi que les facultés d'intuition et de déduction.L'auteur conclut que M. Gonseth, lorsqu'il montre que l'expérience et les facultés d'intuition et de déduction sont indispensables pour la construction de la géométrie, a prouvé une thèse d'une importance fondamentale. L'auteur essaye de construire une géométrie abstraite, mais dirigée par l'expérience, alors que Hilbert introduit une géométrie entièrement abstraite, excluant l'expérience comme instrument de contrǒle.In this article the author discusses the principles leading Mr. Gonseth in his search of geometry and the problem of the space. L'Edification axiomatique.Mr. Gonseth argues that—before attempting to solve the problem of geometry—we must avail ourselves of the faculties of intuition and deduction, and of an experimental knowledge of the space.The author Mr. Tummers has published three brochures on geometry:1° De Opbouw der Meetkunde 1941. 2° De Meetkunde en de Ervaring 1949. 3° Wijsgerige Verantwoording van het Paralelenpostulaat 1951.The author defends the thesis that a science from which experience is excluded cannot exist.In the third brochure the author demonstrates that the proposition of the parallels is not a thesis which can be deduced, but a true postulate. The author, exactly as Mr. Gonseth, supposes in his research the experience and the faculties of intuition and deduction.The author concludes that Mr. Gonseth, when defending that experience and the faculties of intuition and deduction are indispensable for the construction of geometry, proves a thesis of great and fundamental importance.The author tries to build up an abstract geometry but directed by experience, Hilbert introduces a geometry, entirely abstract, whereas excluding the experience as instrument of supervision. La science des nombres infinis, introduite par Cantor, semble être en conflit direct avec la philosophie, qui pose que le nombre infini est contradictoire.Nous examinerons les objections contre le nombre transfini. Nous arriverons au résultat, que le nombre infini, conçu comme symbole, satisfaisant à un certain nombre de postulats, n’est pas contradictoire, tandis que le nombre infini, déterminé, actuel et entier, a bien des propriétés contradictoires.Les objections contre le nombre infini reviennent à ce qu’on suppose tacitement, que le nombre infini (...) doit avoir les propriétés des nombres finis ; et ensuite, on démontre facilement que le nombre infini est contradictoire.Il n’est pas permis d’appliquer la logique classique, qui est une résultante des propriétés des ensembles finis, aux nombres infinis, ce qui serait contraire à une logique plus générale, qui prescrit que l’application de certaines lois de la pensée ne doit pas excéder le domaine propre de ccs lois. In this survey study of 7,208 Dutch healthcare workers, we investigate whether healthcare workers dealing with COVID-19 patients experience lower general health, more physical and mental exhaustion and more sleep problems than other healthcare workers. Additionally, we study whether there are differences in well-being within the group of healthcare workers working with COVID-19 patients, based on personal and work characteristics. We find healthcare workers who are in direct contact with COVID-19 patients report more sleep problems and are more physically exhausted (...) than those who are not in direct contact with COVID-19 patients. Mental exhaustion and general health do not significantly differ between healthcare workers who are in direct contact with COVID-19 patients and those who are not. Among healthcare workers in direct contact with COVID-19 patients, lower well-being on one or more indicators is reported by those who are female, living alone, without leadership role, or without sufficient protective equipment. Regarding age, physical exhaustion is more prevalent under healthcare workers older than 55 years, whereas mental exhaustion is more prevalent under healthcare workers younger than 36 years. These results stress the need of mental and physical support of healthcare workers during a pandemic, catered to the needs of healthcare workers themselves. (shrink)

In this paper H. S. Harris argues that it is misguided to suggest that Hegelrsquo;s philosophical project was a dialectical illusion generated by his historical situation and that he would never have believed that his vision was achievable if he had been faced with the world that we face today. Not only does Harris proclaim himself to be a Hegelian, he claims that Hegel would today also remain a Hegelian.
