La palabra alegría es muy importante para Fernando Savater... Y es el tema central en tomo al que se articula el libro "Misterios gozosos", una antología de textos, a cargo de Héctor Subirats, que recorre 25 años de la producción filosófica y literaria de Savater. El escritor definió la palabra alegría como "afirmación del presente, no nostalgia del pasado ni del futuro". Misterios gozosos se divide, en cinco capítulos en los que se recogen las razones para la (su) (...) alegría: el solo hecho de vivir, el gusto por la comida, el buen vino, el regocijo por la polémica, el entusiasmo por lo admirado, desde figuras históricas como Voltaire o Spinoza a personajes míticos como Groucho Marx o King Kong. De hecho, Savater aparece en la portada, del libro con un pequeño King Kong en las manos. El escritor, siempre vitalista, reflexiona también en su libro sobre cuestiones de primordial interés como las drogas, la salud, los derechos humanos, el amor, la muerte o la soledad.Subirats explicó que seleccionó los textos con "mala leche, para mostar la evolución o involución de Savater". Preguntado sobre cómo ha sido la involución del escritor, Subirats respondió que "Savater permanece en su sitio. Ha sido el mundo el que se ha echado para atrás". Y Savater precisó: "Las ideas no entran en uno como en la religión. A los 20 años se piensa de una manera y a los 50, de otra. Si uno lee, va al cine, sigue atento la marcha del país... y sigue pensando invariablemente lo mismo es que no ha pensado nunca". Con motivo de la reciente publicación del libro de Eduardo Subirats titulado Violencia y Civilización (Losada, Madrid, 2006), sacamos a la luz el siguiente texto, extractado del mencionado libro, para dar a conocer algunas de las claves del pensamiento del autor. A través del concepto de violencia civilizatoria denuncia los abusos cometidos por un poder global y totalitario que actúa, paradójicamente, en consonancia con la defensa de la libertad, con el multiculturalismo neoliberal, y con un capitalismo amable y deconstruccionista.

In Thomas Aquinas, the place regarding memory doesn't seem to be a central issue and, anyhow, for many, it may be seen old-fashioned. However, only the study on his work will allow us to reach more certain statements and eventually, a task that we won't develop here, see its plausibility today. Hence, I set out to present an approach to his treatment in regard to memory, limiting the discussion, not in exclusive, to two texts of the Treatise on Human Nature, (...) included in the first part of the Summa theologiae. I'm referring to the distinction of the inner senses in quaestio 78, articulus 4 and the elucidation of the relation between memory and intellect in quaestio 79, articuli 6 and 7. This book describes in detail the relationship between symbolic representations of knowledge and abstract states of knowledge, exploring along the way the foundations of knowledge, knowledge bases, knowledge-based systems, and knowledge representation and reasoning. The idea of knowledge bases lies at the heart of symbolic, or "traditional," artificial intelligence. A knowledge-based system decides how to act by running formal reasoning procedures over a body of explicitly represented knowledge—a knowledge base. The system is not programmed for specific tasks; rather, it is (...) told what it needs to know and expected to infer the rest. This book is about the logic of such knowledge bases. It describes in detail the relationship between symbolic representations of knowledge and abstract states of knowledge, exploring along the way the foundations of knowledge, knowledge bases, knowledge-based systems, and knowledge representation and reasoning. Assuming some familiarity with first-order predicate logic, the book offers a new mathematical model of knowledge that is general and expressive yet more workable in practice than previous models. The book presents a style of semantic argument and formal analysis that would be cumbersome or completely impractical with other approaches. El objetivo de este ensayo es presentar de un modo coherente el sentido y significado del artículo polémico de Carl Schmitt La filosofía del derecho de Schopenhauer fuera de su sistema filosófico (1913) como respuesta a Das Problem des natürlichen Rechts (1912) de Erich Jung. Primero, ofreceremos una imagen contextualizada de esta última obra atendiendo a sus deudas con la filosofía del derecho de Arthur Schopenhauer y, después, presentamos los argumentos esgrimidos por Carl Schmitt en ese texto y mostramos cuáles (...) eran los rasgos generales del pensamiento schmittiano de aquellos años para poner de relieve, en último lugar, su significado filosófico como un ataque a la tecnificación junguiano-schopenhaueriana del derecho y del Estado. Tomberlin's comparative claims about the superiority of the De Dicto-De Re Account over Guise Theory concerning referential opacity are abortively premature. Nevertheless, he may be right. Yet the order of the day is to develop the De Re-De Dicto Account to the hilt. Not until this is done can any useful dia-philosophical comparison of the two theories yield any fruit. My deep desire is, of course, for the sheer enjoyment of experiencing the world from the perspective of each of the (...) two views, indeed, from the perspective of other views — e.g., Frege's Sense/Referent Theory — that can be developed to the same data-encompassing stage as Guise Theory. Este trabajo tiene como propósito aportar algunos elementos para una reflexión sobre los procesos de industrialización en la provincia de Catamarca - Argentina en la segunda mitad del siglo XIX. Para orientarnos en esta dirección partiremos del proyecto de una enciclopedia genética propuesta por el filósofo Gilbert Simondon cómo propuesta de abordaje. Luego analizaremos el espíritu enciclopédico presente en los escritos económicos de Federico Schickendantz y Samuel Lafone Quevedo estructurados como máquinas de enseñar. Por último, presentaremos la descripción de dos (...) objetos técnicos creados por el D. Mardoqueo Molina y Bazán elaborada en estos escritos. Consideramos que estos objetos técnico aportaron un paradigma de inteligibilidad para la construcción de ciertas imágenes del porvenir de la actividad industrial en la provincia de Catamarca en estos escritos. Desde nuestra perspectiva, la falta de una estado metaestable a nivel social, necesario para amplificar estas imágenes del provenir, impidieron el desarrollo de una mentalidad técnica. (shrink)

Der Aufsatz behandelt drei philosophische Fragen, die durch die Existenz von Leichnamen aufgeworfen werden: Ist der Zustand eines Leichnams unbegreifbar? Sind Leichen tote Menschen? Lassen sich moralische Pflichten gegenüber Leichnamen begründen? Es wird die These vertreten, dass Menschen nacheinander auf zweierlei Weise existieren können: als lebende und als tote Menschen. Außerdem wird dafür argumentiert, dass sich direkte moralische Pflichten gegenüber Leichnamen begründen lassen.

In this paper I try to reconstruct the arguments developed by Fichte in his work Foundations of Natural Right (1796/1797), in order to support the necessity of a recognition of capabilites and rights by the other, so that the I can constitute itself as a self-consciousness. I also take into account the criticisms the Fichtean theory has received by many contemporary interpreters, testing its consistency in the light of these arguments.

Este artículo pretende reflexionar acerca de la relación que existe entre nuestra percepción del mundo animal y nuestra realidad cultural. Para ello, en primer lugar se intenta situar el momento cultural que denominamos Postmodernidad. A continuación se investiga sobre algunos símiles (rebaño, abeja) con que se identifica al hombre en la Grecia Clásica y que, al parecer, permanecen a lo largo de la historia occidental. En este trabajo utilizaremos la tipología schmittiana de pares conceptuales teológico-políticos como marco interpretativo para estudiar cómo el panteísmo fue considerado en la Alemania decimonónica como una doctrina revolucionaria en un sentido político. Esto lo haremos presentando brevemente los antecedentes ilustrados de esta problemática y analizando tanto los debates sobre la personalidad de Dios surgidos a raíz de la publicación de Das Leben Jesu de Strauß como los textos de la izquierda hegeliana en los que se reconoce explícitamente un proyecto (...) político revolucionario vinculado al panteísmo. Partiendo de una reflexión sobre las limitaciones que enfrenta la democracia en el contexto de la globalización actual, el autor analiza las posibilidades de una nueva relación entre las personas, los colectivos y las instituciones del Estado. Los desafíos que enfrenta la humanidad, a escala mundial, no pueden seguir siendo enfrentados con las formas sociales y políticas propias del marco del Estado-Nación territorial. La democracia continuaría siendo la mejor alternativa a esta crisis epocal, pero aquella que surja de una profunda (...) transformación de la relación entre gobernados y gobernantes, y que de cuenta de las nuevas formas de participación que exigen los diversos actores sociales sin necesidad de retornar al rígido centralismo estatista.
