We prove that forp-optimal fields a cell decomposition theorem follows from methods going back to Denef’s paper [7]. We derive from it the existence of definable Skolem functions and strongp-minimality. Then we turn to stronglyp-minimal fields satisfying the Extreme Value Property—a property which in particular holds in fields which are elementarily equivalent to ap-adic one. For such fieldsK, we prove that every definable subset ofK×Kdwhose fibers overKare inverse images by the valuation of subsets of the value group is semialgebraic. Combining (...) the two we get a preparation theorem for definable functions onp-optimal fields satisfying the Extreme Value Property, from which it follows that infinite sets definable over such fields are in definable bijection iff they have the same dimension. Immanuel Kant probably counts as one of the most important European philosophers. In advance of his 300th birthday in 2024, in the context of the Kant Decade (since 2014), many activities have shed new light on several aspects of his work, but the importance of Kant's basis, Konigsberg, both town and Albertus university, has been widely neglected. This was the reason why the Historische Kommission fur ost- und westpreussische Landesforschung, the Ostpreussisches Landesmuseum, the Institut fur Kultur und Geschichte der (...) Deutschen in Nordosteuropa and the Civic Museum in Luneburg organized an interdisciplinary conference in Luneburg in 2021 which is documented in the present volume. The articles discuss the importance of Kant for the theory of humaneness, his early years, the developments at the university of Konigsberg in the second half of the 18th century, as well as the later reception of Kant. This volume collects Kant's most important ethical and anthropological writings from the 1760s, before he developed his critical philosophy. The materials presented here range from the Observations, one of Kant's most elegantly written and immediately popular texts, to the accompanying Remarks which Kant wrote in his personal copy of the Observations and which are translated here in their entirety for the first time. This edition also includes little-known essays as well as personal notes and fragments that reveal the emergence of (...) Kant's complex philosophical ideas. Those familiar with Kant's later works will discover a Kant interested in the 'beauty' as well as the 'dignity' of humanity, in human diversity as well as the universality of morals, and in practical concerns rather than abstract philosophizing. Arnold Kowalewski (1873-1945) war der letzte Vertreter der Königsberger Kant-Forschung, die mit dem Ende des Zweiten Weltkrieges abbrach. Von dem unabgeschlossenen Projekt einer Volksausgabe der Kantischen Schriften in 5 Bänden, mit dem er von der Stadt Königsberg 1941 beauftragt worden war, um einen Überblick über das Kantische Schaffen zu erleichtern, ist allein das Typoskript für Band 1 vollständig ausgearbeitet worden. Der wissenschaftlichen Öffentlichkeit war der erreichte Stand der Realisierung unbekannt. Typoskript, korrigierte Druckfahnen und weitere Dokumente zur Entstehung der Ausgabe blieben (...) bis in den Sommer 1998 Teil des unveröffentlichten Nachlasses. Die besondere Bedeutung des im Nachlaß von Arnold Kowalewski bewahrten Manuskripts mit Dokumenten und Quellentexten zu Kants Lehrtätigkeit liegt heute darin, daß der anerkannte Kant-Philologe und -Interpret für seine Edition noch auf Texte und Zeugnisse aus den Beständen der Königsberger Bibliotheken zugreifen konnte, die seit 1945 verschollen sind. Dies gilt vor allem für die ausgewählten Texte aus Kants Vorlesungen über Anthropologie, Geographie, Logik und Metaphysik, die - wenn auch in sekundärer Überlieferung - durch den vorliegenden Band erhalten sind. The Metaphysics of Morals is Kant's major work in applied moral philosophy in which he deals with the basic principles of rights and of virtues. It comprises two parts: the 'Doctrine of Right', which deals with the rights which people have or can acquire, and the 'Doctrine of Virtue', which deals with the virtues they ought to acquire. Mary Gregor's translation, revised for publication in the Cambridge Texts in the History of Philosophy series, is the only complete translation of the (...) whole text, and includes extensive annotation on Kant's difficult and sometimes unfamiliar vocabulary.
