Jacques Derrida n'est pas seulement un membre de la generation subversive des annees 60-70, il a en quelque sorte regne sur ce moment philosophique. Sa maniere etait plus austere, son propos moins exaltant, mais il passait pour le plus brillant, s'averait comme le plus fecond et devancait les autres dans la reconnaissance internationale. Les adeptes de chacun des autres le connaissaient et reconnaissaient il les reunissait, en un sens. Il fut compte, d'ailleurs, comme le plus exasperant par tous (...) ceux qui sentaient dans ce moment un jeu trouble a l'egard de la rationalite. Il est encore trop proche de nos vies pour que l'on puisse pretendre rendre entierement justice aux milliers de lignes de son oeuvre. Avec le present ouvrage, on entend seulement offrir aux amateurs une introduction a une pensee difficile, accomplir un premier reperage de ce qu'elle a fait, de la maniere dont elle nous a marques et dont elle peut nous inspirer. On commence par exposer la pensee centrale de Derrida, celle dont le mot deconstruction signigie le programme. On raconte ensuite quelque chose du parcours de Derrida, du voyage de son ecriture parmi les pays et les enjeux de la culture. Puis on decrit Derrida dans l'activite chez lui fondamentale de la lecture des philosophes, en prenant l'exemple de ses discussions de Husserl, Levinas et Heidegger. Enfin, on evoque sa posterite et les prolongements que sa pensee pourraient connaitre. (shrink)

The bulk of Bastiat’s scientific work is contained in Economic Harmonies, a work generally overlooked or underestimated. Thsi paper would contribute to its comprehensive rehabilitation by re-examining and reappraising Bastiat’s theory of value.Bastiat defined value as “the relationship existing between two services that have been exchanged.” He respected the principle of objective or intrinsic value, of materiality or durability, utility, scarcity. “Products” have no value if not traded, and the exchange is not between two products but two services mutually produced, (...) traded and subjectively compared by two persons. The origin of the value is the “effort”, which transforms the gifts of nature, and consists in providing services to others in return for services desired.Bastiat’s criticism of Smith and Say anticipated recent developments in contemporary economics. By stressing the importance of services rather that of products, he laid the groundwork for a new approach to consumer theory. By abandoning the reference to production and concentrating on exchange, he has been joined by some Austrian Economists.However, Bastiat in his eagerness to blunt the socialist criticism of private property, was on a wrong fast in making the prediction that the area of property and value will decrease with the progress in civilization, since the efforts will be smaller and smaller, and the action of Nature will play a larger and larger role. Errare humanum Le talent scientifique de Bastiat s’exprime et s’apprécie dans Les Harmonjes Economiques, oeuvre posthume et injustement méconnue.En 1850, sa théorie de la valeur est d’avant garde. Bastiat réfute les conceptions courantes à l’époque qui rattachent la valeur aux caractéristiques d’un produit, qu’elles soient le travail requis, ou l’utilité ou la rareté. Pour lui la valeur naît de la comparaison subjective entre services échangés par deux individus. “Les services s’échangent contre des services”. L’échange est luimême le résultat d’un “effort”, c’est-àdire d’une action humaine tendant à rapprocher besoins à satisfaire et moyens de les satisfaire. Ainsi Bastiat annonce-t-il à la fois les nouvelles approches de la rationalité du consommateur et la théorie de la création entrepreneuriale et de la subjectivité des Autrichiens.Bastiat a été moins heureux dans sa prospective : pour répondre aux socialistes révoltés par la propriété privée, il diagnostique que le progrès de la civilisation, grâce au génie de l’homme, nous conduira vers moins d’efforts et d’échanges, donc moins de propriété, et plus de dons gratuits offerts par la nature, plus de communauté. Silvana Greco propone, per la prima volta, un’analisi approfondita della Philosophie sociale, pubblicata a Parigi alla fine del giugno 1793 da Moses Dobruska (1753- 1794), uomo d’affari, letterato e filosofo sociale. Nato in Moravia da una famiglia ebraica, affiliata alla setta ereticale dei sabbatiani, Dobruska si convertì in giovane età al cattolicesimo, compì una notevole ascesa sociale alla corte asburgica di Vienna ed emigrò poi in Francia, per aderire alla Rivoluzione. Durante il soggiorno parigino prese il nome di Junius Frey, (...) fu assai attivo tra le fila dei giacobini ma riuscì a sopravvivere solo di poco alla propria Philosophie. Accusato di cospirare per conto di potenze straniere, fu ghigliottinato il 5 aprile 1794, al culmine del Terrore, nello stesso giorno in cui anche Georges Jacques Danton saliva sulla forca. Quando apparve, la Philosophie sociale suscitò un notevole interesse, tanto da venir apprezzata nientemeno che da Immanuel Kant. Greco mostra come il lavoro di Dobruska abbia avuto anche altri lettori celebri, che per vari motivi omisero di menzionare, tra le loro fonti, un outsider di dubbia reputazione, su cui pesava una condanna tanto ingiusta quanto infamante. Dalla Philosophie sociale derivano alcuni concetti chiave delle discipline sociali, come le conosciamo oggi. Iniziatore entusiasta e sfortunato, talvolta brillante teorico, Moses Dobruska merita un ruolo a sé nella storia del pensiero sociologico. (shrink)

According to the realist, the meaning of a declarative, non-indexical sentence is the condition under which it is true and the truth-condition of an undecidable sentence can obtain or fail to obtain independently of our capacity, even in principle, to recognize that it obtains or that fails to do so.1 In a series of papers, beginning with “Truth” in 1959, Michael Dummett challenged the position that the classical notion of truth-condition occupied as the central notion of a theory of meaning, (...) and proposed that it should be replaced by the anti-realist (and intuitionistic) notion of assertability-condition. Taken together with normalization results obtained by Dag Prawitz, Dummett’s work truly opened up the anti-realist challenge at the level of proof-theoretical semantics.2 There has been since numerous rejoinders from partisans of classical logic, which were at times met with by attempts at watering down the anti-realist challenge, e.g., by arguing that anti-realism does not necessarily entail the adoption of intuitionistic logic. Only a few anti-realists, such as Crispin Wright and Neil Tennant, tried to look instead in the other direction, towards a more radical version of anti-realism which would entail deeper revisions of classical logic than those recommended by intuitionists.3 In this paper, which is largely programmatic, we shall also argue in favour of a radical anti-realism which would be a genuine alternative to the traditional anti-realism of Dummett and Prawitz. The debate about anti-realism has by now more or less run out of breath and we wish to provide it with a new lease on life, by taking into account the profound changes that took place in proof theory during the intervening years. We have in mind in particular the considerable development within Gentzen-style proof theory of non-classical, substructural logics other than intuitionistic logic, which seriously opens up the possibility that anti-realism, when properly understood, might end up justifying another logic, and the development of closer links between proof theory and computational complexity theory that has renewed interest in a radical form of anti-realism, namely strict finitism. Following on from The Beast and the Sovereign, Volume I, this book extends Jacques Derrida’s exploration of the connections between animality and sovereignty. In this second year of the seminar, originally presented in 2002–2003 as the last course he would give before his death, Derrida focuses on two markedly different texts: Heidegger’s 1929–1930 course The Fundamental Concepts of Metaphysics, and Daniel Defoe’s Robinson Crusoe. As he moves back and forth between the two works, Derrida pursuesthe relations between solitude, insularity, (...) world, violence, boredom and death as they supposedly affect humans and animals in different ways. Hitherto unnoticed or underappreciated aspects of Robinson Crusoe are brought out in strikingly original readings of questions such as Crusoe’s belief in ghosts, his learning to pray, his parrot Poll, and his reinvention of the wheel. Crusoe’s terror of being buried alive or swallowed alive by beasts or cannibals gives rise to a rich and provocative reflection on death, burial, and cremation, in part provoked by a meditation on the death of Derrida’s friend Maurice Blanchot. Throughout, these readings are juxtaposed with interpretations of Heidegger's concepts of world and finitude to produce a distinctively Derridean account that will continue to surprise his readers. Cherchant sans cesse, à l'exemple des philosophes les plus classiques, la vérité par l'argumentation, Jacques Derrida n'a cependant jamais pu être enrôlé par quelque camp que ce soit, et a sans doute, à ce titre, suscité bien des incompréhensions, des déceptions, parfois des dépits (qu'ils soient amoureux ou non). Cette situation singulière est due en partie à l'essence musicale de son écriture et de sa philosophie. La "philosophie de l'écriture", que le présent ouvrage présente dans toute sa logique, son (...) originalité et sa portée, a toujours différé autant que possible ce moment de la saisie intuitive où la pensée se cristallise en positions. Bientôt quinze ans après sa mort, les jalousies et les malentendus allant s'apaisant, Derrida occupe peu à peu en France la place qu'il n'a jamais cessé d'occuper partout dans le monde : celle d'un philosophe original et brillant, qui a introduit dans l'histoire de la pensée un nouveau point de vue (l'écriture) qui permet de la redessiner et de la faire avancer. Il n'est désormais presque aucun domaine de la philosophie contemporaine (qu'il s'agisse du langage, du rapport à la littérature, de l'éthique, des théories du droit, de la responsabilité, de la démocratie, mais également de l'esthétique, de la psychanalyse, de l'anthropologie et des sciences humaines en général) qui ne se réclame de sa philosophie, ou ne lui soit redevable en quelque manière. On peut, en reprenant la distinction importante que fait Paul Boghossian dans _La_ _Peur du savoir _, distinguer deux formes de constructivisme social. Selon la première, il n’y a pas de faits qui soient indépendants du genre de théorie que nous choisissons pour les décrire. Selon la deuxième, moins radicale et à première vue plus plausible, ce sont seulement les faits d’une certaine catégorie, ceux qui ont trait à ce qui constitue une croyance justifiée ou rationnelle, qui sont socialement dépendants (...) et, par conséquent, relatifs : nos croyances peuvent être justifiées par des données qui ne sont pas nécessairement le résultat d’une construction, mais ce qui constitue ou ne constitue pas une donnée pertinente et probante pour l’adoption d’une croyance l’est forcément. This prize-winning book, first published in France in 1982 and now available in an English translation, investigates the question of human subjectivity.

Cet article porte sur des problèmes d’analyse en corpus de structures discursives, en partant de l’exemple de la procéduralité. Quand l’objet d’étude ne porte pas sur une forme particulière, il est difficile de recueillir les données à analyser sans idée préconçue, c’est-à-dire sans biaiser a priori les résultats. L’article propose une méthode permettant de résoudre en partie ces problèmes, en partant d’une annotation à plusieurs mains qui est progressivement unifiée afin d’obtenir un résultat objectif.
