Il saggio inquadra il problema dell’utopia attraverso un’analisi della capacità umana di concepire il futuro. Moltmann distingue la pianificazione intesa come «utopia dello status quo» dalla capacità di trattare il futuro come «sistema aperto», che lasci posto alla speranza. La forte eco del pensiero di Ernst Bloch si intreccia quindi, secondo l’andamento proprio della riflessione dell’autore, con un’analisi della escatologia e della speranza cristiane, che assumono un ruolo centrale nella possibilità di elaborare utopie democratiche che coniughino libertà e uguaglianza. Humanity is facing an ecological catastrophe. Culprits include a linear understanding of time which looks only to the future and the human belief in progress. This ideology has remained the same in the search for solutions; technological progress must provide the answer. However, the article argued that a green transformation is needed. Ecological justice is required. Not only the rights of humans but also of nature, the earth and animals should be respected. Ecological justice and social justice are connected. This (...) pertains to the rights of future generations to achieve a green transformation of urban life (Moltmann 2019:87).The article proposed three changes. Firstly, nature should no longer be seen and treated by humans as an object to be exploited but instead as a fellow subject in the green creation community. Secondly, humanity should be seen as embedded in this community of creation. Thirdly, a new cosmic spirituality with a deep respect for life and everything that lives is needed.Contribution: This article exposed and overturned the much taken-for-granted paradigm of progress towards the future that currently dominates humanity. It illustrated the consequences of this way of thinking. It proposed a radically different yet simple, spiritual and highly respectful alternative view of creation. (shrink)

A diferencia de un cómputo abstracto del tiempo, las consideraciones sobre lo que ha sucedido a lo largo del tiempo nos conduce a la historia real. En este segundo sentido, el año 2000 representa la herencia de una época, que nació del espíritu de esperanza mesiánica: con el descubrimiento y la conquista de América y con la evolución de la ciencia y la tecnología, Europa se creyó la soberana eterna del mundo. El siglo XIX fue el siglo del mito del (...) progreso, pero el progreso histórico provocó la ruina de las sociedades coloniales y la autodestrucción de Europa. Durante el siglo XX, predominó el mito del progreso y la autosuficiencia humana fue predominante y completó la historia al borde de grandes catástrofes. ¿Habremos entonces entrado en un final sin principios? Aún podríamos esperar un nuevo comienzo para el futuro, si la esperanza cristiana nos mostrara nos mostrara el camino para completar la historia, si aún pudiéramos revitalizar la democracia con la esperanza de implantar los derechos humanos, y si, superando la destrucción ecológica, pudiéramos convertir la tierra en un un hogar habitable para la humanidad. El don y el presente del Espíritu de Dios son Dios mismo, que llama a nuestra vida a la plenitud desde su raíz. Desde una perspectiva bíblica, el Espíritu Santo es la donación que Dios nos hace. El origen de esta donación está en el rostro resplandeciente de Dios. Su finalidad en el Nuevo Testamento es culminar el único acontecimiento salvífico de Cristo. Cristo nos envía su Espíritu en virtud de su Cruz, criterio del discernimiento de los espíritus. La misión (...) del Espíritu Santo se expresa hoy por la teología de la vida actual y generalizada en sus diversos enfoques. Al enviarnos el Espíritu Santo, Dios nos revela su aceptación de la vida; al experimentarla en el horizonte de la nueva creación, nos sentimos estimulados a colaborar con esta nueva creación de tres maneras: en primer lugar, con la renovación del pueblo de Dios, creando una comunidad; en segundo lugar, con la renovación de los vivientes, haciendo una ecología salvadora; finalmente, con la renovación de la tierra, recuperando el respeto y la santidad de la tierra de Dios, en lugar de destruirla con una mentalidad instrumental e interesada. This book develops a thorough account of the sphere of human moral action in sustained dialogue with Jürgen Moltmann.

This article aims at exploring the theme ‘Living God, renew and transform us’ under the following headings: the living God and the gods of death, the desolation of atheism and the sun of righteousness, just law and the fullness of life. The author relates the ‘God of Life’ to a ‘theology embracing life’. He links the ‘gods of death’ to racism, capitalism and terrorism in which we ‘encounter a new religion of death’. He points out that Christianity is a religion (...) of joy in God and sets out to illustrate this with selected biblical texts. In the section ‘The desolation of atheism’, the author argues that modern atheism offers a ‘reduced life’. To make his point, he refers to his own personal experience and the theological ‘protest atheism’ which arose in the 19th century. The author concludes by stating that atheism offers nothing positive. In the final section, ‘The sun of righteousness, just law and the fullness of life’, the author addresses issues of justice. In referring to the Reformation doctrine on justification, the author states that the justification of victims requires confessio oris, rising up from humiliation and forgiveness. (shrink)

The essays in this volume examine Jürgen Moltmann’s work, which foregrounds human suffering as not simply a matter of ethics but a core concern for contemporary theology. The result is the expression of hope for a future of Christian theology that is fully engaged in the political, economic, ecological, and social problems of its time.

This study deals with the concept of relationality, which has become one of the central themes of contemporary theological literature. The value of the concept in terms of philosophy of religion and related disciplines such as ecotheology and comparative theology is questioned within the framework of Jürgen Moltmann’s ecotheological anthropology. This study claims that the applications of relationality in theology have the potential to make significant contributions to the enrichment and deepening of the perspectives of the philosophy of religion (...) and related disciplines and that especially philosophy of religion can make conceptual and methodological contributions to relational theology. Relationality, in general, is the approach that puts the claim that everything exists in relation to everything else at the centre and is widely applied in many disciplines such as psychology, sociology, ecology, political science, education, philosophy, and theology. Relationality, which has become one of the most current issues in contemporary philosophy and metaphysics, is a method widely used in contemporary theology, especially in Christian theology, to define different dimensions of the relationship between God, the human being, and nature. Relationality in theology is a theological approach that emphasizes the importance of relationships and interdependence in understanding the nature of God, the world, and human beings. Moltmann, one of the most influential names in contemporary Christian theology, presents his theological anthropological views around the Biblical verses expressing that the human being was created in the image of God, as an alternative to traditional anthropology, on the basis of the theological dimensions of the ecological crisis and through a relational approach. In this respect, Molt-mann's anthropology is a remarkable option in dealing with the relational approach in theology with the current dimensions of the concept and within the framework of different philosophical and theological disciplines. In the context of this background, the study consists of four parts. In the first chapter, an introduction to the relational approach in theology is made to clarify the conceptual framework of the study. The function and role of relationality as an approach in contemporary theological anthropology are discussed in the second part, which presents the claim that the discussions on the current ecological crisis cause changes in the scope and focus of contemporary theological anthropological studies. This section is followed by an examination of Moltmann’s relational anthropology with reference to his approach to the doctrine of imago Dei. In the fourth and last part, in the context of Moltmann’s arguments and also beyond them, the problems that may occur as a result of the application of relationality in theology in terms of the aforementioned contemporary theological disciplines, especially the philosophy of religion, and its possible contributions to those fields are evaluated. Nos dias atuais, o avanço da Teologia da Prosperidade não pode não ser observado tendo em vista o número crescente de igrejas neopentecostais que adotam o princípio de um Deus Cristão diretamente vinculado às questões de prosperidade, uma vez que ser bem sucedido financeiramente requer a aprovação de um deus acionável e subserviente. Assim, surgem questionamentos sobre as diferenças existentes entre a TP e a conhecida Teologia da gratuidade encontrada na Bíblia. Concordamos com Moltmann ao assumir que a ressurreição (...) não esvazia na cruz, mas a preenche de significado. A partir dessa perspectiva, percebemos que a relação com o Pai não é mais marcada pela onipotência, mas pela entrega e solidariedade no abandono, ou seja, a relação não é mais marcada pela disputa da onipotência, não é mais medida e orientada pelo narcisismo e pela privação como renúncia de instintos exigida pelo Deus da ilusão com vista a uma retribuição como justiça final, mas pela analogia. The present article intends to approach as its theme the encounter between the religions in the perspective of the hope in Jürgen Moltmann. In the first moment, it is noticed that, due to the serious problems that affect today’s society, there is the necessity of having a cooperation among the different religions, which will only be possible if there is a perspective of change based on hope in the transformation of the current reality Secondly, there is the discussion about (...) the need for a theology of hope that changes our thoughts and builds new perspectives from faith, and that strengthens the collaborative bonds of all those who seek the same ideal of building an alternative world, where justice and peace are its base. A third moment will be based on the following question: from the eschaton, what other world is it possible to build? As a thesis, Moltmann’s thought will be the reason to understand that in the eschaton what unites prevails over what divides, for the urgencies of transformation overcome divergences, being fundamental the perspective of hope as lens from which it is possible a collaborative encounter between religions.
