Filozof, teolog a religionista Otakar A. Funda se v ní ohlíží za dosavadní cestou svého myšlenkového směřování. Kniha zachycuje jeho klíčová životní témata, dává nahlédnout do jeho myšlenkového vývoje i do současné názorové pozice. Výbor z vědeckého díla předního českého estetika, hudebního vědce, kritika a skladatele O. Zicha zahrnuje kromě dosud nepublikovaných univerzitních přednášek o hudební estetice (převážně z r. 1932) také rukopisnoua idealismus v hudbě. Do výboru byla zařazena i dvoudilná Zichova habilitační práce. Estetické vnímání hudby, která představuje důležitý mezník v Zichově vědeckém postoji.

Philosophical counseling is a helping profession that relates to the ancient concept of philosophy as a discipline with therapeutic potential. Unfortunately, there is no empirical evidence supporting the claim of therapeutic effects philosophy is supposed to have. Philosophical counselors do not have any exclusive methods – distinctive from the procedures used in psychotherapy – that we could find as sources of therapeutic effects. Philosophical counselors often do not understand the processes that generate therapeutic effects and mistakenly attribute these effects to (...) the usage of their philosophical “methods”. Lack of knowledge in the fields of psychology and psychiatry that philosophical counselors show begs the question whether philosophical counseling is not harmful in some cases. There is no reason to solve the issue of relationship between philosophy and psychotherapy by establishing separate field of philosophical counseling. Instead, the aim should be to help psychologists and prospective psychotherapists acquire proper philosophical competences – in terms of philosophical skills and knowledge. (shrink)

Způsob výběru látky ukazuje, že autor dává přednost algebraickým postupům symbolické logiky, které se už svou povahou výrazně odlišují od běžných způsobů myšlení v životní praxi. Vychází od výrokové logiky a problematikylogických formulí, zabývá se logikou predikátovou, logikou tříd a logikou relací. Probírá relace reflexívní, symetrické a tranzitivní, irreflexívní, asymetrické, intranzitivní a relace typu ekvivalence. Tento typ je důležitýtím, že umožňuje definovat nové objekty a dostává se do popředí nejen v různých vědních oborech, ale i v praktickém životě všude tam, (...) kde jde o zjištění, mají-li dva výroky stejný smysl. We present a pocket-size densely connected convolutional network (DenseNet) directed to classification of size-normalized colour images according to varieties of grapes captured in those images. We compare the DenseNet with three established small-size networks in terms of performance, inference time and model size. We propose a data augmentation that we use in training the networks. We train and evaluate the networks on in-field images. The trained networks distinguish between seven grapevine varieties and background, where four and three varieties, respectively, are (...) of red and green grapes. Compared to the established networks, the DenseNet is characterized by near state-of-the-art performance, short inference time and minimal model size. All these aspects qualify the network for real-time, mobile and edge computing applications. The DenseNet opens possibilities for constructing affordable selective harvesters in accordance with agriculture 4.0. (shrink)

We present a proof of a Ramsey-type theorem for infinite metric spaces due to Matoušek. Then we show that for every K>1 every uncountable Polish space has a perfect subset that K-bi-Lipschitz embeds into the real line. Finally we study decompositions of infinite separable metric spaces into subsets that, for some K>1, K-bi-Lipschitz embed into the real line.

This article considers the uncommon situation surrounding the acceptance of Darwinism in nineteenth-century Bohemia, when the diffusion and interpretation of Darwin’s teachings were first undertaken, above all by two professors of aesthetics at Prague – Josef Durdík and Otakar Hostinský. Although they somewhat simplified the theory of natural selection, they understood Darwin’s theory to be the arrival of a new paradigm in contrast to contemporary biologists working in the Bohemian Lands. This article presents and compares both aestheticians’ interpretations of (...) Darwinism, mainly their stance on the theory of natural selection, the possibilities of applying this theory to aesthetics and art, as well as their relationship to Darwin’s interpretation of aesthetic phenomena in nature. Let $\mathcal {S}$ be a family of nonempty sets with VC-codensity less than $2$. We prove that, if $\mathcal {S}$ has the $(\omega,2)$ -property (for any infinitely many sets in $\mathcal {S}$, at least two among them intersect), then $\mathcal {S}$ can be partitioned into finitely many subfamilies, each with the finite intersection property. If $\mathcal {S}$ is definable in some first-order structure, then these subfamilies can be chosen definable too.This is a strengthening of the case $q=2$ of the definable (...) $(p,q)$ -conjecture in model theory [9] and the Alon–Kleitman–Matoušek $(p,q)$ -theorem in combinatorics [6].
