Abstract.One of the theses of the present work is that, at the strictly logical and methodological level, practical logic has neither made, nor can it make any contribution to the philosophy of law, since none of the three branches of practical logic that have been taken into account, namely, the logic of norms, deontic logic and legal logic, seems to be theoretically possible. The contribution of practical logic to the analysis of legal language is assessed in terms of both the (...) instruments of analysis elaborated by practical logic, the artificial languages, and the results obtained in two capital subjects, the negations of norms and the permissions. The tricarboxylic acid (TCA) or Krebs cycle, which takes place in prokaryotic cells and in the mitochondria of eukaryotic cells, is central to life on Earth and participates in key events such as energy production and anabolic processes. Despite its relevance, it is not perceived as tightly regulated compared to other key metabolisms such as glycolysis/gluconeogenesis. A better understanding of the functioning of the TCA cycle is crucial due to mitochondrial function impairment in several diseases, especially those that occur with (...) neurodegeneration. This article revisits what is known about the regulation of the Krebs cycle and hypothesizes the need for large‐scale, rapid regulation of TCA cycle enzyme activity. Evidence of mitochondrial enzyme activity regulation by activation/deactivation of protein kinases and phosphatases exists in the literature. Apart from indirect regulation via G protein‐coupled receptors (GPCRs) at the cell surface, signaling upon activation of GPCRs in mitochondrial membranes may lead to a direct regulation of the enzymes of the Krebs cycle. Hormonal‐like regulation by posttranscriptional events mediated by activable kinases and phosphatases deserve proper assessment using isolated mitochondria. En este breve texto el autor nos introduce a la polémica entre Ricardo Guastini y Rafael Hernández Marín en torno a la interpretación del derecho. En dicha polémica Guastini defiende el escepticismo, mientras que Hernández Marín defiende el cognoscitivismo. Estas maneras diferentes de entender la interpretación jurídica son puestas a prueba en un interesante intercambio de ideas que nos permite apreciar los alcances y límites de cada posición.

Even though sacred scriptures emphasize the key role that Creation and respect for living creatures play in all religions, the so-called religious schools seem to show little interest in putting this sacred mandate into effect. To shed light on this subject, this work investigates the role of teachers in the process, focusing on their environmental competencies. Our hypotheses are tested through a structural equation model on a sample of 214 biology and religion teachers from 118 Catholic schools in Spain who (...) voluntary participated in a survey. The research findings confirm that it is crucial that environmental competencies are developed in teachers to enable the greening of schools. Theoretical and practical implications for defining the job training of teachers in religious schools are drawn from the study. (shrink)

In this paper we present the problem of a noisy lexical taxonomy and suggest two tasks as potential remedies. The first task is to identify and eliminate incorrect hypernymy links, and the second is to repopulate the taxonomy with new relations. The first task consists of revising the entire taxonomy and returning a Boolean for each assertion of hypernymy between two nouns (e.g. brie is a kind of cheese). The second task consists of recursively producing a chain of hypernyms for (...) a given noun, until the most general node in the taxonomy is reached (e.g. brie → cheese → food → etc.). In order to achieve these goals, we implemented a hybrid hypernym-detection algorithm that incorporates various intuitions, such as syntagmatic, paradigmatic and morphological association measures as well as lexical patterns. We present a distributed control modeling approach for an automated manufacturing system based on the dynamics of one-dimensional cellular automata. This is inspired by the fact that both cellular automata and manufacturing systems are discrete dynamical systems where local interactions given among their elements can lead to complex dynamics, despite the simple rules governing such interactions. The cellular automaton model developed in this study focuses on two states of the resources of a manufacturing system, namely, busy or idle. However, the (...) interaction among the resources such as whether they are shared at different stages of the manufacturing process determines the global dynamics of the system. A procedure is shown to obtain the local evolution rule of the automaton based on the relationships among the resources and the material flow through the manufacturing process. The resulting distributed control of the manufacturing system appears to be heterarchical, and the evolution of the cellular automaton exhibits a Class II behavior for some given disordered initial conditions. Em busca de superar uma racionalidade reducionista instaurada por décadas na produção de conhecimentos na área da educação, propomos neste artigo, considerando a teoria do Agir Comunicativo, realizar uma discussão sobre os Espaços Discursivos. Estes vêm se configurando em uma proposta para produção de dados, de modo a considerar a intersubjetividade dos sujeitos e a autorreflexão como meios constituintes de saberes. Seus princípios estão alicerçados na ética do discurso desenvolvido por Habermas. A construção da metodologia em tela, tem-se dado pela (...) via dos estudos desenvolvidos pela pesquisa-ação, que a partir de pesquisas desenvolvidas tece algumas considerações teórico-metodológicas e epistemológicas apresentadas nesse momento. Considerando este mesmo movimento, percebe-se que a produção de dados pela via dos Espaços Discursivos permite um diálogo ético e democrático com os envolvidos, na busca de consensos acerca das temáticas propostas, sendo a argumentação, neste contexto, a base para estruturação do conhecimento na área educativa. Previous research has shown positive relationships between fitness level and different cognitive abilities and academic performance. The purpose of this study was to explore the relationships between logical–mathematical intelligence and mathematical competence with physical fitness in a group of pre-adolescents. Sixty-three children from Castro del Río, aged between 11 and 12 years, participated in this research. The Superior Logical Intelligence Test and the EVAMAT 1.0–5 battery were used. Physical fitness was evaluated by the horizontal jump test, the 4×10 meter speed–agility (...) test, and the Course Navette test. The analyses showed positive relationships between physical fitness with logical–mathematical intelligence and mathematical competence. Specifically, linear regression analyzes indicated that the 4×10 speed–agility test significantly predicted mathematical competence and the horizontal jump test significantly predicted logical–mathematical intelligence. These results are in agreement with previous research, highlighting the importance of improving physical fitness from an early age due to its benefits for intellectual and academic development. En 1976 —siendo yo un jovencísimo inmigrante, prácticamente recién llegado de mi país—, en el populoso downtown de Los Ángeles, me encontré con un disco de larga duración del cantautor catalán Joan Manuel Serrat. El disco en mención musicalizaba varios poemas del malogrado poeta Miguel Hernández y un poema de Miguel de Unamuno. De regreso a mi apartamento de soltero, puse el disco y de inmediato quedé impactado por la belleza de las interpretaciones. Recuerdo que una de ellas, "Nanas de (...) la cebolla", me conmovió de tal manera que la repetí varias veces. (shrink)

Este artículo se propone analizar las representaciones narrativas de las migraciones centroamericanas hacia los Estados Unidos, en su paso por México, tal como son elaboradas en las novelas Amarás a Dios sobre todas las cosas (2013), del escritor mexicano Alejandro Hernández y La mara (2004), del también mexicano Rafael Ramírez Heredia. Nos enfocaremos en dos temas que consideramos de mayor importancia en ambas obras para comprender la Centroamérica de hoy: el papel que juega el concepto de camino para el (...) migrante de Amarás a Dios sobre todas las cosas (2013) y el de entre-lugar en La mara (2004). La reflexión que planteamos en este artículo forma parte de una discusión más amplia desarrollada en nuestra tesis doctoral, que tuvo como eje central las migraciones centroamericanas hacia los Estados Unidos y las representaciones que de estas se hacen en la narrativa contemporánea de la región centroamericana. Interesan de manera particular esos dos textos porque trabajan de manera diferente ambos aspectos –el cronotopo del camino y la noción de entre-lugar–, al mismo tiempo que forman parte de un creciente corpus de novelas que tienen como tema central los movimientos migratorios en la región. This article explores the use of epistemic stance strategies in journalistic discourse in English and Spanish. The linguistic resources of epistemic stance include evidential and modal expressions, as well as verbs of cognitive attitude and expressions of factivity. This article examines the pattern of distribution of epistemic stance expressions in three types of journalistic genres in English and Spanish and the presence of multifunctionality of some evidential expressions in the two languages. The Gongsun Longzi is often considered the only extant work of the Classical Chinese “School of Names”, an early intellectual tradition mainly concerned with logic and the philosophy of language. The Gongsun Longzi is a heterogeneous collection of five chapters that include short treatises and largely fictive dialogues between an anonymous persuader and his opponent, which typically revolve around a paradoxical claim. Its value as a testimony to Early Chinese philosophy, however, is somewhat controversial due to the intricate textual history (...) of the text and our limited knowledge about its intellectual backgrounds. This volume gathers contributions by leading specialists in the fields of Classical Chinese philosophy, philology, logic, and linguistics. Besides an overview of the scholarly literature on the topic and a detailed account of the reception of the text throughout time, it presents fresh insights into philological and philosophical problems raised by the Gongsun Longzi and other closely-related texts equally attributed to the “School of Names”. This article attempts to correct this situation. First, it contextualizes the claim in its historical and conceptual aspects; second, it returns to Hegel’s approaches to modern art, neglected hitherto by interpreters. This revision implies clarifying what for Hegel is the modern, whose concept comes from the freedom and autonomy of thought, and (...) does not conform to what, in developments of Aesthetics, after Hegel, represent tendencies and prescriptions such as the avant-garde or turns such as aesthetic modernity and postmodernity. The paper addresses severalethical issues in online communication researchin light of digital ontology as well as theepistemological questions raised by theblurring boundary between fact and theory inthis field. The concept of ontology is used ina Heideggerian sense as related to the humancapacity of world construction on the basis ofthe givenness of our being-in-the-world.Ethical dilemmas of Internet research thusarise from the tension between bodily existenceand the proper object of research, i.e., onlineexistence. The following issues are beingconsidered: online identity, online language,online consent (...) and confidentiality. We alsoargue that research ethics in the US followsthe utilitarian tradition, while Europeanresearchers are deontologically oriented. Aguideline of best practice in online researchethics is proposed. La influencia del pensamiento de los jansenistas franceses, holandeses e italianos sobre los jansenistas españoles es evidente y fehaciente. La historiografía sobre el particular es abundante. La conversión pastoral es un tema reciente en la teología pastoral, principalmente gracias a la aportación del Papa Francisco en la Evangelii Gaudium. Este artículo explora en primer lugar la relación entre la conversión pastoral y la teología pastoral –particularmente en cuatro teó- logos españoles– y explica cómo cada modelo evangelizador definido por la teología es una propuesta de conversión pastoral. Al mismo tiempo, tomando prestadas algunas categorías de la filosofía de la complejidad, define la conversión pastoral como un proceso (...) complejo cuya clave está en la circularidad entre modelo evangelizador y modelo pastoral y explica las relaciones existentes entre los distintos aspectos de la conversión pastoral desde esta circularidad.
