O trabalho investiga em que medida a intencionalidade do autor, oculta no texto, deve ser perscrutada pelo leitor ao interpretar, tendo em vista que, na ausência do autor durante o ato de leitura, a intenção do próprio texto se sobrepõe à do autor. Para tanto, recorreremos, principalmente, a passagens de duas obras de Paul Ricoeur, Do texto à ação e Tempo e narrativa.

This paper attempts to present the intellectual structure within which Paul Ricoeur has conceived the possibility of a philosophical interpretation of myth. I propose that Ricoeur's hermeneutics has been able to integrate and harmonize structural analysis, phenomenological description, and ontological-existential analysis of the myth through a group of epistemological and ontological coordinates from the two first Critiques and from Kant's philosophy of religion.

En los últimos años de su vida, Ricoeur, filósofo fundamental de la segunda parte del siglo XX, con sus trabajos desde la fenomenología hasta la hermenéutica del texto y de la acción, se vuelca de manera prolija y a la vez amorosa, sobre cuestiones centrales que atraviesan su obra, y que en este breve texto cobran un sentido que liga su filosofía de manera especial con su existencia concreta. Aún cuando se trata de un conjunto de papeles y documentos incompletos, (...) tal vez, aparentemente inconexos, exponen la potente lucidez de quien, en el ocaso de su vida, reafirma el valor de la existencia desde distintos y a veces distantes tópicos que pueden ser comprendidos como coordenadas centrales de su producción intelectual. Las directrices de este pensamiento invitan al lector a un estado de complicidad con los espacios reflexivos delineados. Ciertamente se trata de una complicidad muy íntima, que nos involucra desde el escenario-horizonte de nuestra propia vida, su limitación-finitud y el diseño simbólico del más allá de la muerte. In the paper two forms of human dealing with the notion of the sacred are compared — manifestation and proclamation. Author suggests that proclamation is a characteristic for modern monotheistic religions based on the Old Testament theology. In particular, a vivid example of proclamation is a teaching of Jesus Christ, as presented in synoptic Gospels. In Ricouer’s view, a decline of the sacred in modern Western civilization is connected with an unjustified absolutization of the scientific and technical achievements and (...) must be overcome in the course of the further social development. Imagination and Chance illuminates the different philosophical projects that animate Ricoeur’s hermeneutics and Derrida’s deconstruction. Basic concepts in Ricouer such as discourse, metaphor and symbol, and tradition are examined, and texts by Derrida including “White Mythology,” Introduction to Husserl’s The Origin of Geometry, and “The Double Session” are analyzed. The book also includes a previously untranslated round table discussion between Ricoeur and Derrida.

During the 90s of the twentieth century, Paul Ricoeur designated his view concerning the metaphysical issue of God as philosophical agnosticism. He thought that feature to be the hallmark of his entire work. However, in his Memoirs of Youth [Méthode réflexive appliquée au problème de Dieu chez Lachelier et Lagneau], which he wrote during his twenties, Ricouer developed a philosophy that named God and that made it a metaphysical issue. This memoir remained unpublished until 2017. Faced with his self-proclaimed (...) philosophical agnosticism, this work raises some questions. If the early Ricoeur was interested in applying the method of reflexive philosophy to the issue of God, why this early work remained unpublished? Was it published just because it contradicts the hallmark of his entire work? The purpose of the article is to shed light on the origin of this memoir, which seems strange due to his own description of his philosophical work. Therefore, it addresses three issues within the memoir: the philosophical ideas established in the beginning, the decisions he took during its development, and the structure of an impossible conclusion which ends it. Este trabajo pretende introducir al lector en la problemática de la intersubjetividad desde la perspectiva de Paul Ricoeur, considerando el doble acceso, ético y gnoseológico, a la realidad del otro. Se estudiará en primer lugar cómo, a los ojos de Ricouer, la fenomenología husserliana debe enfrentar su prueba más definitoria, la de la explicitación del fenómeno de la intersubjetividad, y cómo puede superarla. En segundo lugar, se mostrará cómo Ricoeur no reduce el acceso al otro a la constitución egológica, (...) sino que, por el contrario, la subordina al a priori ético del respeto, que pone al otro como otro antes de cualquier tipo de constitución fenomenológica o de aproximación simpática. Es nuestra intención mostrar que no se trata en Ricouer de excluir ninguno de los dos accesos, sino que se trata de una fenomenología genética que rastrea lo extraño desde lo propio, atendiendo ante todo a la intencionalidad ética del hombre como lo definitorio en el orden intersubjetivo. In recent years, Richard Kearney has emerged as a leading figure in the field of continental philosophy, widely recognized for his work in the areas of philosophical and religious hermeneutics, theory and practice of the imagination, and political thought. This much-anticipated--and long overdue--study is the first to reflect the full range and impact of Kearney's extensive contributions to contemporary philosophy. The book opens with Kearney's own "prelude" in which he traces his intellectual itinerary as it traverses the three imaginaries explored (...) in the volume: the dialogical, the political, and the narrative. This contribution responds to the ongoing discussion about the narrativity of history and looks at some differences between fictive and historical narrative. The objective of this contribution is to further elaborate on the ideas of narrative transformations developed by Wolf Schmid, focusing particularly on historical narratives. The authors see differences between both kinds of narrative, especially on the level of reference (which is in line with the views of D. Cohn, P. Ricouer and L. Doležel). The problem of fiction (...) and reference is illustrated by Schmid's four tiered narratological model, especially on the level of happening. In fiction, this tier (of happening) is inferred backwards based on the presentation of the narration. This tier is positioned (excluded in absentia) so the elements of the narrative can be selected. In historical narrative happening has a different status and precedes both the story and the text. Although the shape of the past is related to the presentation of the narrative, it is not determined by nor reduced to it. The authors of this contribution describe the specific character and aspects of narrative transformation in the writing process. (shrink)

The paper has two objectives: First, it focuses on the history of the use of the terms morality and ethics. On this background it differentiates between the understanding of morality in traditional antiquity , where these terms were seen as equivalent and defined through manners and habits, and modern conception, where the core of morality consists in duty. The question is, in which form these divergent inspirative traditions occur in contemporary ethics- and moral discourses and what are the possible resolutions. (...) The argumentation of the first part is based on Aristotle’s and M. de Montaigne’s views, whereas the second part is drawing from P. Ricouer’s project as opposed to the conceptions of M. Conche and R.
