Abstract

One of the important components of the rich moral and cultural heritage created by the Ganjabasars was national holidays. Novruz, which is a seasonal holiday, celebrated over many centuries with “the greatest socio-cultural content and ethical-aesthetic ideas” differs from other holidays with its abundantly laid table, traditions, ceremonies and entertaining games. This holiday was considered the first to be celebrated by Ganjabasars. It should be noted that Ganjabasary have a great experience in conducting holidays from the most ancient times. According to the great thinker Nizami, a holiday called “Sadda” was held here. The holiday Sadda, as well as the ceremony «Cowsage», demonstrates their attitude to winter and not fearing winter. Despite the fact that during the period of the Soviet regime, a ban was imposed on this holiday, after the independence of Azerbaijan, it is celebrated at the state level as a national holiday. This holiday, which serves the Azerbaijani national ideology, had a great influence on the upbringing of the new generation, honoring the traditions, was celebrated in accordance with the adopted law of the Azerbaijani parliament on October 27, 1992 «On holidays of the Republic of Azerbaijan». Studies show that Novruz holds a special place in the system of seasonal ceremonies of other Turkic peoples as well.
