The present monograph is devoted to the principal problems of quantum mechanics and is based on the conception first stated in my course on 'Fundamentals of Quantum Mechanics'. The scope and purpose of the above course did not allow some principal questions to be brought out as fully as they deserved, and besides, some important points were only very recently developed to a sufficient extent. This refers especially to the analysis of the action of the measuring instrument, whose dual role (...) as an analyser of a quantum ensemble and as a detector of individual events was insufficiently elucidated. The reader will find that the present monograph is concerned more with theoretical physics than with philosophy. However, I have never separated Weltanschauung from science (and particularly theoretical physics) so that the philosophical implications are also discussed, justi fying publication in the philosophical series. In conclusion, I should like to thank the publisher and the translator, whose initiative and effort have made it possible for the book to reach the English-speaking reader. (shrink)

Martin Heidegger is, perhaps, the most controversial philosopher of the twentieth-century. Little has been written on him or about his work and its significance for educational thought. This unique collection by a group of international scholars reexamines Heidegger's work and its legacy for educational thought.

Here we suggest a formal using of N.A. Vasil’ev’s logical ideas in categorical logic: the idea of “accidental” assertion is formalized with topoi and the idea of the notion of nonclassical negation, that is not based on incompatibility, is formalized in special cases of monoidal categories. For these cases, the variant of the law of “excluded n-th” suggested by Vasil’ev instead of the tertium non datur is obtained in some special cases of these categories. The paraconsistent law suggested by Vasil’ev (...) is also demonstrated with linear and tensor logics but in a form weaker than he supposed. As we have, in fact, many truth-values in linear logic and topos logic, the admissibility of the traditional notion of inference in the categorical interpretation of linear and intuitionistic proof theory is discussed. La solution de difficiles problèmes que les Lettres d’Ignace d’Antioche continuent de poser se heurte à l’incertitude où sont encore les chercheurs sur la date de son martyre. Toutefois, dans un document jusqu’ici négligé à cause de son caractère apocryphe, les Actes de Drosis, les noms de personnes, les noms de lieux et les dates conservent la trace d’une persécution dont les chrétiens d’Antioche auraient été victimes en juillet 116, à la suite du séisme du 13 décembre 115. Cet arrière-plan (...) permettrait de cerner les motifs pour lesquels Ignace aurait été condamné à figurer dans une arène romaine mais aussi de mieux comprendre l’interprétation que l’auteur des Lettres a voulu donner de son voyage. Le retour de l’Église d’Antioche à la paix dont il est question dans les Lettres ignatiennes aux Philadelphiens et aux Smyrniens est interprété, depuis les travaux de P. N. Harrisson, comme la cessation d’une crise interne. Toutefois les similitudes entre le vocabulaire ignatien et celui des quatre Livres des Maccabées invitent à replacer le problème dans le contexte plus général de la littérature martyriale du judaïsme hellénistique : Ignace n’a jamais fait explicitement état d’une persécution, parce que, conformément à la (...) mentalité de son époque, une persécution était perçue comme la manifestation de la colère de Dieu devant les infidélités de son peuple. C’est pour l’apaiser et permettre par son martyre le rétablissement de l’unité au sein de l’Église d’Antioche qu’Ignace s’est offert en victime expiatoire. L’hypothèse d’une crise interne n’exclut pas celle d’une crise externe. (shrink)
