In the recruitment process, manually selecting suitable candidates from curriculum vitae (CVs) for a job description (JD) is both time-consuming and expensive. Traditional keyword-based methods struggle to capture skill semantics, prompting the development of more advanced JD-CV matching systems. This paper aims to investigate and construct an ontology-based skills recommendation system, with objectives including creating a skills ontology and developing skills matching methods for JD-CV pairs. The objective of our approach is to enhance the accuracy and contextual relevance of recommendations (...) by utilizing the proposed score. The proposed skills ontology and skills matching strategies are applied to a real dataset in Vietnam. The results of our study can automatically recommend a list of CVs for a given JD. Furthermore, the findings indicate that our proposed model surpasses comparative approaches by a margin of at least 1% to 5%. Overall, the study demonstrates the potential of utilizing ontology-based approaches to offer a practical solution for enhancing hiring practices. (shrink)

In that situation, we can describe that practical action with reason because we will determine reason with the weight of different reasons not on the weighing reasons. This study examines the impact of regulatory changes on seven distinct corporate governance determinants of asset quality in Indian banks. We focus on the Companies Act of 2013 and the Insolvency and Bankruptcy Code of 2016, two key pieces of legislation that have significantly impacted the Indian banking industry. Using the General Method of Moments, a dynamic panel data method, we analyze data from 45 Indian public and private sector banks from 2010 to 2019. Our results suggest that board functioning (...) contributes more to the reduction of non-performing assets after the passage of the Companies Act. However, the impact of special committee activity, ownership concentration, and intensity of board activities has worsened. As far as the Insolvency and Bankruptcy Code of 2016 is considered, it has reduced the negative impact of special committee activity and board functioning on asset quality. Our study addresses the endogeneity issue, frequently encountered in previous research on corporate governance determinants of asset quality. This study makes a valuable contribution to the literature by providing insights into the impact of regulatory changes on corporate governance determinants of asset quality in Indian banks. Our research also provides a benchmark for other emerging economies to define their legal frameworks. We suggest further study of the factors, particularly board independence and gender diversity in light of the Acts. (shrink)

The 2014 Varsity Medical Ethics debate convened upon the motion: “This house believes that genetic information should not be commoditised”. This annual debate between students from the Universities of Oxford and Cambridge, now in its sixth year, provided the starting point for arguments on the subject. The present article brings together and extends many of the arguments put forward during the debate. In contemporary philosophy, various attempts have been made in relation to placing our minds or mental states in the natural world or nature. In this context, there is a clear divide between naturalism and anti-naturalism, materialism and immaterialism, etc. Driven by the influence of naturalistic turn in philosophy and scientism, many philosophers have tried to put forth various naturalistic accounts of the relationship between mind and natural world. However, many of these accounts are naturalistic based on the modern scientific conception (...) of nature which has been hailed as the dominating conception of nature. John McDowell in his magnum opus Mind and World, while criticizing modern scientific account of the relationship between mind and world, has not resorted back to anti-naturalism. Instead, he has tried to give us certain clues to develop an account of an alternative form of naturalism which is at the same time radically different from both scientific naturalism and mysterious anti-naturalism. In this paper, I will try to search for an alternative naturalism following McDowell and examine to what extent this account is tenable. In this context, we shall discuss various approaches to understand the relation between reason/normativity (which is one of the significant constituting elements of our mind) and natural world. Introduction. Healthcare workers (HCWs) should theoretically have the necessary education and environment to adopt a healthy lifestyle, and they supposedly also should have a higher participation rate in WHP programmes. HCWs are, for several reasons, considered to be a key group in health promotion, especially due to the fact that the healthcare system reaches a substantial number of people in need of lifestyle changes such as increased physical activity (PA) [5]. Furthermore, healthcare professionals are considered to be the most credible (...) source of health information [6]. HCWs' lifestyles can play an important role in increasing awareness among patients regarding lifestyle changes, because HCWs' own lifestyle habits and interests in lifestyle behaviour have been shown to positively influence their counselling practices and attitudes [6–7]. The international movement 'Health Promoting Hospitals and Health Services', which was initiated by the World Health Organization (WHO), highlights the importance of also focusing on the health and lifestyle of the employees. Methods. We conducted survey based on a standardized and adapted questionnaire that included socio-demographic data and points related to healthy lifestyle. We adhered to the latest recommendations on designing and reporting survey studies. Before conducting the study, the questionnaire was pretested among 5 experts and revised twice. The survey was conducted in Kazakh / Russian for respondents who speak two languages fluently at the choice of participants. The filling of the questionnaire took on average 45 minutes. We reported absolute numbers and percentages. Chi-square tests were used to compare responses between groups. Results were considered significant at a P value of < 0.05. Statistical analyses were performed using the application SAS OnDemand for academia (version 3.81, Carry, North Carolina, USA). Results. Our data revealed that nurses were more likely to adhere to healthy eating principles and to have a regular diet at home. GPs were more likely to consume fast food and add salt when food is not salted enough. Nurses were more likely to eat greens regularly. GPs had a stronger belief in the impact of diet on health. More nurses rated their diet as healthy. Media promotion significantly influenced GPs for changing diet towards healthier options. Eating patterns vary according to the risk of stress. Research shows that chronic stress influences the amount and types of consumed food, contributing to both overeating and malnutrition, and that stress hormones can lead to the development of obesity. GPs are more likely to have used tobacco products compared to nurses. GPs are more likely to smoke more than 10 cigarettes per day. GPs have a slightly higher belief in the necessity of a healthy lifestyle compared to nurses. GPs and nurses have different testing frequencies for Hepatitis B and C, with nurses testing more frequently. GPs are more likely to have sexual activity after drinking alcohol. Conclusion. It is known that a healthy lifestyle of doctors affects the attitude of patients and their motivation to change their lifestyle. Thus, the lifestyle patterns of health workers, as well as the understanding of the motivation of these patterns, are more likely to affect public health. (shrink)

Recent research highlights the relationship between perceived brand ethicality (PBE), consumer purchase intention, and the consumer–brand relationship. Existing empirical studies offer mixed findings on whether these three relate positively, negatively, or not at all. Moreover, their relationships have not been the primary focus of existing meta-analytic reviews. Therefore, we conducted a meta-analysis to provide an empirical consensus to this debate by studying the magnitude of the association between PBE and consumer responses (purchase intention, brand trust, and brand loyalty). Moreover, we (...) examined the moderating effects of self-accountability and brand experience to expand our understanding of this relationship. After a thorough literature review from major databases and cross-referencing of the relevant articles, we selected 31 peer-reviewed articles for this meta-analysis. The results reveal that consumer response to PBE positively influences attitude formation towards the brand and purchase intentions. Additionally, moderation analyses reveal the crucial roles of self-accountability and brand experience in influencing the effects of PBE on consumer–brand relationships and purchase intention. Crucial theoretical and practical implications are discussed regarding these relationships, followed by limitations and future research directions. (shrink)
