Saussure Et L’Épistémè Structuraliste. Saussure Und Die Strukturalistische Episteme.Ludwig Jäger & Andreas Kablitz (eds.) - 2022 - De Gruyter.
More than a hundred years after the publication of Cours de linguistique générale, Saussure is still considered the ‘revolutionary founder’ of structuralism. Saussure’s name is almost symbiotically connected with the idea of structuralism. This volume opens the view from different disciplinary perspectives for a Saussurean thinking also beyond the boundaries of the structuralist epistemes.

Epistemology: Contexts, Values, Disagreement. Papers of the 34th International Ludwig Wittgenstein-Symposium in Kirchberg, 2011.Christoph Jäger & Winfried Löffler (eds.) - 2007 - The Austrian Ludwig Wittgenstein Society.
This volume collects papers that were presented at the 34th International Ludwig Wittgenstein Symposium 2011 in Kirchberg am Wechsel, Austria. They focus on five key debates in contemporary epistemology: Does the term "to know" vary its meaning according to features of the contexts in which it is uttered? What role may "epistemic virtues" play in our cognitive activities? What is the surplus value of having knowledge instead of mere true belief? What is the structure and significance of testimonial knowledge (...)

    Three assistants on Boltzmann.Gustav Jäger, Josef Nabl & Stephan Meyer - 1999 - Synthese 119 (1-2):69-84.
The three demi-articles presented here would give a brief biographical account of Ludwig Boltzmann’s life plus some details about his Vienna laboratories first in the 1860’s in the Erdberg and second in Türkenstrasse from 1894. Josef Nabl’s account discusses J. J. Thomson’s Laboratory in Cambridge, which allows a provisional comparison between two different largely contemporary institutes. Nabl’s second letter also mentions Lord Kelvin’s late rejection of the kinetic gas theory of Maxwell and Boltzmann, rejection which on top of the (...)

Wirklichkeit Oder Konstruktion?: Sprachtheoretische Und Interdisziplinäre Aspekte Einer Brisanten Alternative.Andreas Gardt & Ekkehard Felder (eds.) - 2018 - Boston: De Gruyter.

  13. Bemerkungen Über Die Farben.Ludwig Wittgenstein - 2007 - Univ of California Press.
This book comprises material on colour which was written by Wittgenstein in the last eighteen months of his life. It is one of the few documents which shows him concentratedly at work on a single philosophical issue. The principal theme is the features of different colours, of different kinds of colour (metallic colour, the colours of flames, etc.) and of luminosity—a theme which Wittgenstein treats in such a way as to destroy the traditional idea that colour is a simple and (...)

This study examines the topical frames reflected in articles published about Syrian refugees by German, British and American news websites in 2016. We analyze these for terms associated with Syrian refugees and the themes they address then relate them to those we identified for 2015 and to those indicated by German students in expressing their attitudes towards them. The results show that, despite discrepancies in the occurrence of Syrian refugees’ collocates in our 2016 news corpora, they still reflect, at a (...)

Kongress in Essen.

    Wittgenstein's Tractatus.Ludwig Wittgenstein - 1998 - Mountain View, CA, USA: McGraw-Hill Humanities, Social Sciences & World Languages.
This text is a dynamic new translation of Wittgenstein' s most famous work -- one of the most influential philosophy works of the Twentieth Century. Kolak' s translation is the first to read like an original work written in English and is the first to restore the poetical and lyrical qualities of the original Tractatus as intended by the author.

From his return to Cambridge in 1929 to his death in 1951, Wittgenstein influenced philosophy almost exclusively through teaching and discussion. These lecture notes indicate what he considered to be salient features of his thinking in this period of his life.

  32. Zum Frieden verurteilt? Was „garantiert“ die Natur in Kants Traktat vom Ewigen Frieden?Bernd Ludwig - 2005 - Jahrbuch für Recht Und Ethik 13.
In a famous passage in Perpetual Peace , Kant discusses a “natural guarantee“ of perpetual peace. Basically, this natural guarantee relieves human beings of the obligation to actively promote the development of law in the world, because one can expect it to develop anyway. Yet Kant calls the guarantee practical, meaning the guarantee has no direct prognostic value. One can see that this guarantee is merely a guarantee of success, which ensures that human conduct aimed toward attaining perpetual peace will (...)

This book contains the whole description of the world. It presents all true scientific propositions and in fact all significant propositions that can be made. The author describes his feelings by the metaphor that if a man would write a book about Ethics which really was a book on Ethics this would with an explosion destroy all the other books in the world. He mentions an other experience strait away which he also know and which others might be aquainted with (...)
