L’objectif de l’article est théorico-clinique. Autour des questions que posent les troubles de l’attachement, plusieurs référentiels théoriques sont analysés et mis en perspectives. L’éclairage théorique autorise une relecture de la symptomatologie. Il ouvre également des pistes intéressantes en ce qui concerne les questions que pose l’évaluation des pratiques. En suivant la position de D. Widlöcher (2000), la notion d’étayage permet une lecture dynamique des liens entre attachement et théorie des pulsions. Während frühere Kulturen um den Tod als ihre abgründige Mitte herum gebaut waren, wird das Sterben heute zunehmend als ein ,natürlicher' Prozess begriffen. Seine Rückübersetzung in den Bereich des molekularen Zerfalls impliziert dabei eine Reihe von problematischen Voraussetzungen. Sie führen in ihrer Konsequenz zu einem Vordringen des Amorphen oder dem Rückfall des menschlichen bíos in das, was man in Anlehnung an Giorgio Agamben das ,nackte' Leben und den ebenso ,nackten' Tod nennen könnte. Der Beitrag nimmt seinen Ausgang von den Arbeiten (...) der mexikanischen Künstlerin Teresa Margolles , die den anonymen Leichnam bzw. seine ,Spuren' ins Zentrum ihrer Aufmerksamkeit stellt. Although the critique of reification is a core commitment of critical theories, there is no widely accepted account of its normative foundation. In Lukács’s original analysis, this foundation is provided by a strong concept of practice which is, however, not acceptable from a contemporary point of view. I argue that the systematic character of reification theory can only be upheld if this concept is replaced by a more intersubjective notion of normative practices. Reification can then be analysed as a second-order (...) pathology of social practices, as an inhibition of reflexivity by their normative shape. The normative justification of such critique, however, turns out to be more context-dependent than it is usually imagined. (shrink)

ABSTRACT: Though Habermas explicitly rejected psychoanalysis as a model for a critical theory of society, it seems to have continued to shape his thought beyond the publication of Knowledge and Human Interests. The conceptual framework underlying his more recent social theory would also be indebted to the psychoanalytical paradigm. This thesis is developed through the idea of the pathology of society, which represents the cornerstone of a specifically critical theory of society. This paper reconstructs Nietzsche’s conception of spiritual illness, especially as exhibited in various forms of the bad conscience, and asks what positive, ennobling potential Nietzsche finds in it. The relevant concept of spirit is arrived at by reconstructing Nietzsche’s conception of life and then considering what reflexive life – life turned back against itself – would look like. It distinguishes four independent features of spiritual illness: the measureless drive to make oneself suffer, self-opacity (or mendaciousness), life-denial, and a self-undermining dynamic (...) in which life exhausts the sources of its own vitality. The paper ends by considering various suggestions as to how these features of spiritual illness might also be preconditions of great spiritual health, including the preconditions for erecting new “ideals.”. Kurt Goldstein’s thinking on health and disease is based on the concept of milieu [Umwelt], which he inherited from the ethologist Jacob von Uexküll, while at the same time reforming the concept in an original way. Goldstein’s interpretation of the organism-environment relationship emphasises the dynamic nature of this relationship and the reciprocal structuring of the two poles; this hypothesis forms the basis of his original conception of pathology as the shrinking of the patient’s environment. The German neurologist’s position is characterized (...) by the ambivalence that runs through his conceptions of pathology and health, and which gives his thought its richness. On the one hand, ordered behaviour is a necessary condition for the patient’s adaptation to a new relationship with the environment, but it may also be pathogenic if it is aimed at self-preservation only. On the other hand, according to Goldstein, health is, in a first sense, a tendency of the organism to actualise its own capacities, even in a situation of illness; in the second sense, it is a tendency towards expansion and self-actualization that goes beyond the aim of constituting an adequate environment for the organism. Dussault Cet article renforce l’objection des dysfonctions bénignes soulevée par Jerome Wakefield contre la théorie biostatistique de Christopher Boorse, en en présentant une version qui prend acte d’une critique importante de l’analyse conceptuelle comme visée pour une théorie de la santé et de la pathologie. Cette objection prend pour cible la considération, par la théorie de Boorse, que la dysfonction de la partie d’un organisme est suffisante pour la pathologie de cet organisme. Situant sa critique dans (...) le cadre méthodologique de l’analyse conceptuelle, Wakefield soutient que cet aspect de la théorie de Boorse pose problème au regard des dysfonctions qui, parce qu’elles sont bénignes, ne sont pas considérées comme pathologiques par la médecine. Je présente une version de l’objection des dysfonctions bénignes intégrant les apports méthodologiques de l’explication philosophique telle que caractérisée par Peter Schwartz. Je fais valoir que sa considération des dysfonctions bénignes comme pathologiques fait échouer la théorie de Boorse à rendre compte de la portée pratique qu’ont les concepts de santé et de pathologie dans la médecine occidentale. Le 17 novembre 2000, la Cour de cassation siégeant en appel ordonnait l’indemnisation de Nicolas Perruche pour le préjudice constitué par le fait d’être né atteint du syndrome de Gregg, suite à une contamination par le virus de la rubéole, contractée par sa mère pendant la grossesse.Aussitôt les médecins, les associations de handicapés.

L’article a pour objet l’analyse des interactions verbales entre des adolescents polyhandicapés et des adultes ayant soins. L’objectif de l’étude est de montrer comment le phénomène de répétition qui se distribue nécessairement sur le plan interlocutoire engendre ou facilite le processus d’intercompréhension. Les résultats montrent que la répétition fonctionne comme un processus dialogique dont la dynamique intersubjective contribue à la construction et à l’accomplissement réussi de l’échange conversationnel. Nous comparons et discutons ces résultats relativement à un corpus d’interactions verbales entre (...) des adultes et des enfants au développement typique. (shrink)

Quels sont les liens entre phantasia et perception? Aristote a bien découvert en la première, rattachée à la seconde, la faculté de se représenter en l'absence. Il y a certes des cas de représentation en présence imputés à la phantasia, mais cet emploi du terme, qui renvoie à des situations infraperceptives, est plutôt résiduel. Ces cas pathologiques sont pour Aristote assez peu dignes d'intérêt. On ne peut dire que la phantasia « interprète ». What is the link between phantasia and (...) perception? Although it depends on aisthêsis itself, Aristotle calls phantasia a faculty of representing in absentia, of which he is the discoverer. Of course, some cases of representation in praesentia are attributed to phantasia, but this use of the word is not central; these cases are cases below perception proper, and pathology of perception is of minor interest in Aristotle's mind. In this contribution we offer a Spinozist reading of the best practice guideline “Seeing the person behind the pathology”. It seemed worthy to ask ourselves the following question: when providing care to a sick patient, what does this involve, from an anthropological and psychological point of view, for the caregiver? Won’t this risk placing the caregiver, who faces tragic situations on a daily basis during his or her professional practice, in personal danger? These questions lead us to follow two lines (...) of thought. Firstly, to reflect on a new ethical anthropology of the caregiving relationship, beyond the great disembodied principles of bioethics. Secondly, to allow room once more for the caregiver’s natural and affective body in the caregiving relationship, and what the caregiver feels about the situation beyond or alongside medical imaging and analysis. These lines of thought themselves have resulted in practical experiments: allowing caregivers to experience other ways of being affected and encouraging them to actively contribute to participatory ethical reflection on their practice. In return, this involves putting aside the immediacy of expected effects, and to place healthcare ethics in a broad temporal perspective in a continually renewed future. (shrink)
