Summary |
Deontology is based on Kant’s teachings of ethics which is anchored in the Categorical Imperative. The imperative is a theory of moral laws and they are made out of different parts; free will, moral actions, and universal law which is the ultimate goal. Kant gave us a free will, but it should be used to act in a right way and not be used to gain something like an advantage over someone weaker. If an action was morally good, it can be turned into universal law which is a general law for everyone. In applied ethics, there are many examples which can be used and Kant’s philosophy can be applied to. |
