Abstract

The article explores the considerations of Nietzsche on the Renaissance painter Raphael Sanzio, who are rare in the set of the work of the philosopher, however permeates all the phases of his intellectual development process. The approach, more often than is positive, with remnants of censorship with respect to the artist’s timidity in promoting a transvaluation of Christianity, which sounds as a certain ambiguity. The most fruitful moment of the approach occurs in the intermediate period, in which Nietzsche values the Renaissance humanism and the works of Rafael illustrate the characteristics of the Renaissance he values.
