Die Werke Friedrich Christoph Oetingers: chronologisch-systematische Bibliographie 1707-2014.Martin Weyer-Menkhoff - 2015 - Boston: De Gruyter. Edited by Reinhard Breymayer.
Die Beschäftigung mit Oetingers Werk ist auch wegen Unübersichtlichkeit und seiner ausufernden Bezugnahmen eine schwierige Sache. Aber manche gute bibliographische Vorarbeit existiert (BGP I).

The Role of Working Memory in the Processing of Scalar Implicatures of Patients With Schizophrenia Spectrum and Other Psychotic Disorders.Walter Schaeken, Linde Van de Weyer, Marc De Hert & Martien Wampers - 2021 - Frontiers in Psychology 12.
A number of studies have demonstrated pragmatic language difficulties in people with Schizophrenia Spectrum and Other Psychotic Disorders. However, research about how people with schizophrenia spectrum and other psychotic disorders understand scalar implicatures is surprisingly rare, since SIs have generated much of the most recent literature. Scalar implicatures are pragmatic inferences, based on linguistic expressions like some, must, or, which are part of a scale of informativeness. Logically, the less informative expressions imply the more informative ones, but pragmatically people usually (...)

    A diffusion model for mesoderm induction in amphibian embryos.C. J. Weyer, P. D. Nieuwkoop & A. Lindenmayer - 1977 - Acta Biotheoretica 26 (3):164-180.
In this paper we try to answer the question whether diffusion is a possible mechanism to explain mesoderm induction in Amphibians. First the embryological data are discussed and a hypothesis for mesoderm formation is set forth. The blastula being essentially a hollow sphere, we assume that the induction mechanism in an embryo at the blastula stage can be simulated by diffusion-reaction processes on spherical surfaces. A model is constructed for the simple case when the source is held constant with respect (...)

W. van Thiel - 2015 - BMC Medical Ethics 16 (1):7.
The Dutch law states that a physician may perform euthanasia according to a written advance euthanasia directive when a patient is incompetent as long as all legal criteria of due care are met. This may also hold for patients with advanced dementia. We investigated the differing opinions of physicians and members of the general public on the acceptability of euthanasia in patients with advanced dementia.

Bounded fixed-parameter tractability and reducibility.Rod Downey, Jörg Flum, Martin Grohe & Mark Weyer - 2007 - Annals of Pure and Applied Logic 148 (1):1-19.
We study a refined framework of parameterized complexity theory where the parameter dependence of fixed-parameter tractable algorithms is not arbitrary, but restricted by a function in some family . For every family of functions, this yields a notion of -fixed-parameter tractability. If is the class of all polynomially bounded functions, then -fixed-parameter tractability coincides with polynomial time decidability and if is the class of all computable functions, -fixed-parameter tractability coincides with the standard notion of fixed-parameter tractability. There are interesting choices (...)

The Role of Social Isolation and the Development of Depression: A Comparison of the Widowed and Married Oldest Old in Germany.Franziska Förster, Melanie Luppa, Alexander Pabst, Kathrin Heser, Luca Kleineidam, Angela Fuchs, Michael Pentzek, Hanna Kaduszkiewicz, Carolin van der Leeden, André Hajek, Hans-Helmut König, Anke Oey, Birgitt Wiese, Edelgard Mösch, Dagmar Weeg, Siegfried Weyerer, Jochen Werle, Wolfgang Maier, Martin Scherer, Michael Wagner & Steffi G. Riedel-Heller - 2021 - International Journal of Environmental Research and Public Health 18 (13):6986.
Widowhood is common in old age, can be accompanied by serious health consequences and is often linked to substantial changes in social network. Little is known about the impact of social isolation on the development of depressive symptoms over time taking widowhood into account. We provide results from the follow-up 5 to follow-up 9 from the longitudinal study AgeCoDe and its follow-up study AgeQualiDe. Depression was measured with GDS-15 and social isolation was assessed using the Lubben Social Network Scale (LSNS-6). (...)

Changes in Social Network Size Are Associated With Cognitive Changes in the Oldest-Old.Susanne Röhr, Margrit Löbner, Uta Gühne, Kathrin Heser, Luca Kleineidam, Michael Pentzek, Angela Fuchs, Marion Eisele, Hanna Kaduszkiewicz, Hans-Helmut König, Christian Brettschneider, Birgitt Wiese, Silke Mamone, Siegfried Weyerer, Jochen Werle, Horst Bickel, Dagmar Weeg, Wolfgang Maier, Martin Scherer, Michael Wagner & Steffi G. Objectives:Social isolation is increasing in aging societies and several studies have shown a relation with worse cognition in old age. However, less is known about the association in the oldest-old (85+); the group that is at highest risk for both social isolation and dementia. Methods:Analyses were based on follow-up 5 to 9 of the longitudinal German study on aging, cognition, and dementia in primary care patients (AgeCoDe) and the study on needs, health service use, costs, and health-related quality of life (...)

  37. Spiritual and Medical Melancholy in Lutheran Responses to Johann Weyer’s Criticism of the Witch Trials.Peter A. Morton - 2025 - Journal of the History of Ideas 86 (1):21-47.
This article examines responses from Lutheran pastors, theologians, and physicians to the arguments given by Johann Weyer in 1563 that those women who confessed to a pact with the devil suffered from melancholy and were thus not responsible for their acts. Weyer’s conception of melancholy was a medical one, yet among Lutheran pastors and theologians the concept of a spiritual form of melancholy emerged that came from religious sources. The article clarifies the difference between the concepts of medical (...)

This article examines the marriage between Atticus’ daughter Caecilia Attica and Agrippa, with a focus on why Atticus and Agrippa agreed upon it. I argue that political considerations were the major driving force for both men. More specifically, Atticus accepted this match in order to establish/deepen ties with powerful figures without abandoning his neutral policy, and Agrippa accepted it so as to advance his own career while minimizing the risks that might arise from his ambition. Meanwhile, I contend that (...)
