Jesus Centered Leadership and Business Applications: An Alternative Approach.Richard Peters, Joe M. Ricks & Christopher Doval - 2017 - Business and Society Review 122 (4):589-612.
In this article we evaluate Jesus Centered Leadership, a new concept that has emerged in the realm of spirituality and business management. JCL questions the “Christianity” of Christian business leadership, and proposes principles for ethical leadership that provide a truer representation of the teachings and traits of Jesus. We consider these principles and contribute principles of our own, thereby providing an alternative approach to JCL that remains consistent with the JCL message of morality but addresses issues that offer greater opportunities (...)

Against the Neoliberal Blackmail.Christopher William Wolter & Alicia Barrena - 2019 - International Journal of Žižek Studies 13 (2).
Žižek’s recent commentaries on the topics of gender identity, sexuality, and consent have provoked outraged reactions from the politically correct neoliberal consensus. This paper argues these reactions emerge in part due to Žižek & Zupančič’s recent explorations into the ontological and political ramifications of Lacan’s thesis ‘ il n'y a pas de rapport sexuel’. Specifically, these explorations pose a threat to the contemporary definition of the subject as the subject of trauma, and the economy of moralistic outrage which sustains this (...)

    Ambiguity aversion in multi-armed bandit problems.Christopher M. Anderson - 2012 - Theory and Decision 72 (1):15-33.
In multi-armed bandit problems, information acquired from experimentation is valuable because it tells the agent whether to select a particular option again in the future. This article tests whether people undervalue this information because they are ambiguity averse, or have a distaste for uncertainty about the average quality of each alternative. It is shown that ambiguity averse agents have lower than optimal Gittins indexes, appearing to undervalue information from experimentation, but are willing to pay more than ambiguity neutral agents to (...)

Good-bye to the problem of evil, hello to the problem of veracity.Christopher Miles Coope - 2001 - Religious Studies 37 (4):373-396.
I start from Mill's words about Mansel and the problem of evil. In this dispute Mansel has generally been thought to have come off worst. However, Mansel was clearly right to this extent: that what would make a man a good man would not be the same as what made God good. This is because, quite generally, what makes something good of its kind, where we can talk about goodness at all, varies with the kind. With Aristotle we must say: (...)

Shoemaker on Sentiments and Quality of Will.Christopher Bennett - 2019 - Criminal Law and Philosophy 13 (4):573-584.
In this comment, I raise a number of concerns about David Shoemaker’s adoption of the quality of will approach in his recent book, Responsibility from the Margins. I am not sure that the quality of will approach is given an adequate grounding that defends it against alternative models of moral responsibility; and it is unclear what the argument is for Shoemaker’s tripartite version of the quality of will approach. One possibility that might fit with Shoemaker’s text is that the tripartite (...)

Post-punk, Industrial Culture Zines, and the Information Dark Age.Christopher Haworth - 2023 - Theory, Culture and Society 40 (7-8):211-235.
Several scholars have noted parallels between the online communicative tactics of the American alt-right and those of industrial musicians in the 1970s and 1980s. This article explores these connections further by analysing the informational media that industrial musicians developed. Between the mid-1980s and 1990s, these zines, handbooks, and websites made a strenuous break with the values of democracy, egalitarianism, and grassroots authenticity that were the default ideological ‘mode’ of DIY. Where the Californian ideology would centre the summer of love and (...)

The Consequence Argument and the Definition of Determinism.
Embora (...)

Checking Janicaud's Arithmetic: How Phenomenology and Theology" Make Two".Christopher Yates - 2009 - Analecta Hermeneutica 1:73-92.
Yates reviews Janicaud’s critique in its first iteration, then observes what the emphases of its later form indicate about the kind of phenomenology he propounds. The paper highlights the contours of Janicuad's rigorous “minimalism,” his qualified “atheism,” and the peculiar manner in which his self-described pursuit of phenomenological “possibilities” is propelled by his rejection of theological possibilities. The author questions the selective appropriation of Husserl in Janicaud’s adherence to phenomenality and neutrality by underlining ambiguities within Husserl’s early focus on intuition (...)

    The African American experience in agriculture.Christopher N. Hunte - 1992 - Agriculture and Human Values 9 (1):11-14.
Shrinking enrollments in the agricultural programs of the 1890 schools can be partly explained by negative attitudes of Blacks toward agriculture. This attitude has roots in the historical experiences of African Americans and has negative implications for the agricultural programs of the 1890 schools. A collection of data from a sample of Black Louisiana Farmers lends credence to the claim that Black Farmers are not encouraging their children to go into farming. To counter the impact on the 1890 schools, an (...)

    Contributions to the theory of f-automatic sets.Christopher Hawthorne - 2022 - Journal of Symbolic Logic 87 (1):127-158.
Fix an abelian group $\Gamma $ and an injective endomorphism $F\colon \Gamma \to \Gamma $. Improving on the results of [2], new characterizations are here obtained for the existence of spanning sets, F-automaticity, and F-sparsity. The model theoretic status of these sets is also investigated, culminating with a combinatorial description of the F-sparse sets that are stable in $$, and a proof that the expansion of $$ by any F-sparse set is NIP. These methods are also used to show for (...)

  35. The Logical Form of Structured Propositions.Christopher K. Hom - 2003 - Dissertation, University of California, Irvine
One of the main criteria for an adequate semantic theory is that it solve the problem of substitution into intensional contexts, otherwise known as Frege's Puzzle. Given common-sense assumptions about how natural language functions, a contradiction arises in explaining attitude reports. For example, Lisa might believe that Twain is tall, but not believe that Clemens is tall. Lisa is perhaps unaware that the names "Twain" and "Clemens" corefer. But Twain's being tall is just Clemens' being tall, so one and the (...)

    Environmental Victims: Arguing the Costs.Christopher Williams - 1997 - Environmental Values 6 (1):3 - 30.
The costs of anthropogenic environmental change are usually discussed in broad terms, for example embracing damage to the ecosystem or buildings. There has been little consideration of the direct human dimension – the cost to and of environmental victims – except in clinical terms. In order to prevent and minimise environmental victimisation it seems necessary to present cost arguments to governments and commerce. This paper outlines the personal, social and cash costs of environmental victimisation, using the psycho-social literature, and brief (...)
