Significant Absences: Wittgenstein’s Philosophy of Silence and Joyce’s Poetics of the Unspoken.Darko Blagojevic & Vanja Vukicevic Garic - 2024 - Filosofija. Sociologija 35 (1).
This paper discusses an important phase in Ludwig Wittgenstein’s analytic philosophy through a comparative examination of the profound correspondences that exist between his concept of silence and the poetics of another crucial authorial figure of the 20th century: James Joyce. Based on the hypothesis that there are striking resemblances between their early works, that is, between Joyce’s realistic short-story collection Dubliners and Wittgenstein’s Tractatus Logico-Philosophicus, the article employs mostly close-reading, analytical-interpretative and comparative methods. It argues that silence was an intentional (...)

    Linguistic and Naturalistic Deconstitution of Consciousness.Darko Blagojević & Nebojša Banović - 2023 - Filozofska Istrazivanja 43 (4):775-792.
This article seeks to highlight and present two seemingly different conceptions of the philosophy of mind belonging to Ludwig Wittgenstein and Richard Rorty. In this context, we first consider Wittgenstein’s critique of private languages, which is then used to reject and deconstitute the privacy of consciousness. In addition, the paper follows the evolving and deconstitutive character of Rorty’s philosophy of mind, showing how the American philosopher constantly defined consciousness, mind, or later selfhood – using naturalistic methods. The authors maintain and (...)

    Religious Europe, Russia and Serbia: Past and present.Mirko Blagojevic - 2008 - Filozofija I Društvo 19 (1):275-294.

Phenomenology and existentialism in dialogue with Marxist humanism in Yugoslavia in the 1950s and 1960s.Una Blagojević - 2023 - Studies in East European Thought 75 (3):417-436.
The paper looks at how Marxist humanists around the Yugoslav philosophical journal Praxis engaged with existentialist and phenomenological categories. After presenting the early 1950s critiques of existentialism in Yugoslavia, the paper considers how the categories used by the representatives of existentialism (and phenomenology) were interpreted and incorporated by Yugoslav Marxist humanists in the 1960s.

    Current religious changes in Serbia and desecularization.Mirko Blagojevic - 2006 - Filozofija I Društvo 2006 (31):239-253.
For the contemporary Serbian sociology of religion it is evident that the process of desecularization has been present on the social scene of Serbia in the last fifteen years. Sociologists have provided arguments for this claim based on data gathered in Serbia during this period. The religious changes in question have been empirically recorded in all aspects of attachment to religion and the church, that is, in aspects of religious identification, doctrinal beliefs and religious behavior. Certain political subjects and social (...)

Religious and confessional identification and faith in God among the citizens of Serbia.Mirko Blagojevic - 2012 - Filozofija I Društvo 23 (1):40-52.
The author presents and analyses, in regard with the subject, the data from a systematic sociological research study of religiosity of the citizens of Serbia which is relevant for the Republic of Serbia without Kosovo and Metohija. The study named?Religiosity in Serbia and the EU integration process? was conducted twice, in 2010 and 2011, by the Christian Cultural Centre from Belgrade with the financial assistance of the Konrad Adenauer Foundation and the Center for European Studies from Brussels. Before analysing the (...)

Religious Europe, Russia and Serbia past and present: Arguments of empirical evidence: The case of Russia.Mirko Blagojević - 2008 - Filozofija I Društvo 19 (2):81-115.
U prilogu autor razmatra evoluciju religijske svesti ruskog stanovnistva i medjusobni odnos drustva, religije i crkve predstavljajuci je u vidu svojevrsnog religijskog klatna. Ispitujuci kretanje pomenutog klatna autor analizira religijsku situaciju i vernicku strukturu carske, sovjetske i savremene Rusije. U tom dugom vremenskom periodu mogu se postulirati tri tipa vernicke strukture: stabilna vernicku strukturu dorevolucionarne Rusije, destabilizovana vernicka strukture u sovjetsko vreme, restabilizovana struktura tokom 90-ih godina proslog (...)

    On Antiutopianism in Pragmatics and Narrative.Darko Suvin - 2023 - Utopian Studies 34 (2):292-311.
Abstractabstract:This article refurbishes the view of antiutopianism as the ruling orthodoxy of late-capitalist common sense (pragmatics) and writings plus media (narrative). After a half-century descent into a contemporary neofeudalism (Fascism 2.0), the operation of totalized antiutopianism on utopian narrative genres is powerfully evident in the TV series Game of Thrones, a rigidly Social Darwinist fantasy world, reveling in mass slaughters and presupposing neofeudalism: a black fable for lesioned personalities.

ABSTRACT In the introduction to the 2015 reprint of her classical Partial Visions, Angelika Bammer cites the pithy injunction of the American poet and feminist thinker Adrienne Rich: “We need to imagine a world in which every woman is the presiding genius of her own body. In such a world women will truly create new life, bringing forth … the visions, and the thinking necessary to sustain, console, and alter human existence. … Sexuality, politics, intelligence, power, motherhood, work, community, intimacy (...)

One erroneous attribution of Defence of Eunuchs.Darko Todorović - 2019 - Byzantinische Zeitschrift 112 (1):193-220.
The paper traces a three-century-long tradition of a mistaken attribution of the Defence of Eunuchs by Theophylact of Ohrid. Since Peter Lambeck, chief librarian of the Hofbibliothek in Vienna, identified in 1671 the author of the treatise as Theodore Pedagogue, a poorly known tutor to the emperor Constantine VII Porphyrogenitus, the incorrect attribution was readily adopted and further disseminated by a series of scholars of the next generations. Although the issue of the authorship was successfully resolved as early as 1768 (...)

A sociological view of the Russian religious renaissance at the end of the twentieth century: Its scope, limits and tendencies.Mirko Blagojevic - 2004 - Filozofija I Društvo 2004 (24):189-227.
In this article I have dealt with empirical proofs for the Russian religious renaissance which came after the fall of the Soviet socialistic empire and carried on all through the nineties as a pro-religious consensus and a religious belief. Likewise, I have dealt with proofs suggesting certain limitations of the renaissance in question which manifested mainly in irregular fulfillment of religious duties.

In the last decade and a half the process of desecularization has been undoubtedly verified in Serbia. Not only that the changes have been verified in the religious complex in general, but in traditional religious groups in particular as well. The revival of religiousness and people?s attachment to religion and church have been clearly proved in all aspects of religious life: in the areas of religious identification, doctrinaire religious beliefs and ritual religious practices. It should also be noted that in (...)

On sociological criteria of religiousness: How many (Orthodox) believers are there today?Mirko Blagojevic - 2009 - Filozofija I Društvo 20 (1):9-36.
Ovim (...)

Religious changes in post-communism: The issue of orthodoxy in the transitional societies of Serbia and Montenegro and Russia.Mirko Blagojevic - 2003 - Filozofija I Društvo 2003 (22):233-269.
Considering this issue to be particularly significant as a research challenge for the sociologies of religion in the so-called post-socialist countries, the subject of this research has been to determine the character, status and direction of religious changes in predominantly orthodox territories of Yugoslavia and Russia that became evident in the last decade of the twentieth century marked by turbulent socio-political changes in those countries. With the subject of the research being defined in that way, the main goal of the (...)

Toward a Theory of Emotions in Competitive Sports.Darko Jekauc, Julian Fritsch & Alexander T. Latinjak - 2021 - Frontiers in Psychology 12.
In this article, we introduce a theory on the dynamic development of affective processes, affect regulation, and the relationship between emotions and sport performance. The theory focusses on how affective processes emerge and develop during competitive sport involvement. Based on Scherer’s component process model, we postulate six components of emotion that interact with each other in a circular fashion: triggering processes, physiological reactions, action tendencies, expressive behaviors, subjective experience, and higher cognitive processes. The theory stresses the dynamics of affective processes (...)

Orwell, as he himself remarked, came from a lower, professional-service fraction of the English and imperial ruling class that was ‘simultaneously dominator and dominated’ (Raymond Williams), so that a combination of state and monopoly power became his abiding nightmare. His horizon was, as of the Spanish Civil War in 1936, a revolutionary socialism committed to freedom and equality, opposed both to Labourite social democracy and to Stalinist pseudo-communism. In this article, I concentrate on Nineteen Eighty-Four, drawing on narratology (its agential (...)

Prvi okvir tice se religije kao javne ustanove i podrazumeva logiku medjusobnog podupiranja religijskih i nereligijskih faktora a drugi okvir podrazumeva logiku samostalne, unutrasnje religijske obnove koja izvire iz same srzi religije i crkve kao bozje ustanove i individualne duhovne potrebe vernika za poboznoscu.
