The concept of implicit definition has played a central role in the controversies about the foundations of geometry. The history of this concept, however, exhibits several important confusions. The term has been used in at least three different senses—Gergonne's position, Hilbert's position of the so-called definitions by axioms , and that of Pasch and Dubislav in the sense of Russell's contextual definition. Frege's contribution to the explication of Hilbert's view has occasioned an adequate appraisal in recent years. A summary account (...) is given. The main purpose of the paper is to present some details about the historical development of the transfer of Gergonne's term ‘implicit definition’ to the Hilbert position, a transfer which goes back to the Peano School and was disseminated by Enriques. In this unpublished Latin fragment (which dates from May 1702) G. W. Leibniz criticizes the Cartesian conception of body and force and develops his own notion of matter, extension and his theory of forces. He argues against Descartes and Cartesians that 1) the essence of corporal bodies cannot be reduced to extension alone but the latter arise from the primitive force itself, 2) consequently Cartesian quantity of motion falls short to account the motive force of a moving body since the (...) true nature of physical bodies which can only be understood through a careful analysis of dynamical forces. -/- Mayıs 1702’de kaleme aldığı ve ölümünden sonra yayımlanan bu Latince fragmanda G. Most studies examining gene-environment effects on self-regulation focus on outcomes early childhood or adulthood. However, only a few studies investigate longitudinal effects during middle childhood and adolescence and compare two domains of early caregiving. In a longitudinal follow-up with a sample of N = 87, we studied the effects of differences in the DRD4 tandem repeat polymorphisms and two domains of early maternal caregiving quality on children’s personality development using Block’s California Child Q-Set at age six and age 12 and (...) on problem behavior at ages six and seven. Early maternal regulation quality predicted later ego-resiliency and aggressiveness. In addition, significant gene-environment interactions revealed that children with the 7+ DRD4 tandem repeat polymorphism and poor maternal regulation quality in infancy showed lower scores in ego-resiliency and higher scores in ego-undercontrol and CCQ aggressiveness. In contrast, children who had experienced effective maternal regulation in infancy showed a comparable level in personality traits and problem behavior as the DRD4 7- group independent of the levels of maternal regulatory behavior. Similarly, longitudinal caregiving × DRD4 interactions were found for behavior problems in middle childhood, especially for oppositional-aggression, inattentive-hyperactivity, and social competence. Early caregiving effects were only found for maternal regulation quality, but not for maternal responsiveness. Effective early maternal regulation in infancy can moderate the negative effect of DRD4 7+ on children’s self-regulation in middle childhood and adolescence. However, maternal responsiveness has no comparable effects. It seems relevant to consider several dimensions of early caregiving and to also measure the environment in more detail in gene-environment studies. (shrink)

Dieses Kapitel stellt die Frage, was gelingende soziale Beziehungen in der Jugend sind und wie sie unter den Bedingungen der Digitalisierung verwirklicht werden können. Den ethischen Hintergrund stellt dabei das Konzept einer guten Jugend dar, auf die Jugendliche einen moralischen Anspruch haben. Der Sinn der hier vorgestellten Überlegungen ist also, herauszuarbeiten, welche Rolle digitale Beziehungen für eine gute Jugend spielen und wie wiederum das Konzept einer guten Jugend genutzt werden kann, um einige aktuelle Entwicklungen des Umgangs mit Techniken unter die (...) Lupe der Ethik zu nehmen. Damit ist dann auch angesprochen, was über die Verantwortung der direkt und indirekt involvierten Akteur:innen, insbesondere jener, die die (technischen, sozialen, rechtlichen) Rahmenbedingungen setzen, gesagt werden kann. Digitalisierung ist eine Schlüsseltechnologie im 21. Jahrhundert und prägt heute das private Leben und den Alltag durch Internet, Laptop, Smartphone, KI oder Soziale Medien. Das gilt insbesondere auch für zwischenmenschliche Beziehungen - zum Beispiel in Familie, Beruf, Freundschaft, Liebe, Therapie. Solche Beziehungen sind für Menschen von großer Bedeutung, sie sind wichtig für die psychische und physische Gesundheit, für Erfahrungen der Anerkennung und für ein gutes Leben - dahinter steht die anthropologische These des Menschen als animal sociale. Die Veränderung von Beziehungen (...) - und zwar nicht nur ihrer Form, sondern auch ihres Inhalts und ihrer Wertigkeit - durch die Digitalisierung bedarf daher der eingehenden ethischen und interdisziplinären Reflexion. In diesem Band werden ausgewählte Beziehungsformen unter den Bedingungen der Digitalisierung aus unterschiedlichen disziplinären Perspektiven reflektiert, um Chancen, Potentiale, aber auch Risiken und Herausforderungen sichtbar zu machen.
