Introdução: A Educação Permanente (EP) tem relação entre ensino e as práticas de atenção, levando em consideração a gestão, o desenvolvimento institucional e o controle social. Objetivo: Identificar fatores envolvidos na adesão dos profissionais nos programas de formação oferecidos pelo Complexo Hospitalar do Estado de Minas Gerais. Metodologia: Questionário aplicado a colaboradores da saúde do Complexo Hospitalar, relacionado às características dos profissionais e ao programa de EP. Resultados: A maioria dos participantes não sabia o verdadeiro conceito de EP. Participam das (...) capacitações e da análise de eficácia e o cronograma das ações educativas é feito com a equipe. A prioridade foi por ações presenciais. Discussão: A presença de mais de um vínculo empregatício, filhos e carga horária extensa de trabalho contribuíram para a baixa adesão fora do ambiente de trabalho. Conclusão: Colaboradores desconhecem o significado real da EP. As ações educativas agregam no conhecimento e na melhoria da assistência. (shrink)

This article investigates the pervasive influence of the pharmaceutical industry in Pakistan and primarily the attitudes of the medical community toward such interactions. We used an inductive approach informed by grounded theory principles to analyze interviews and focus groups with consultants, residents, medical students, and a pharmaceutical industry representative in Karachi and Lahore, and participant-observation data from two biomedical conferences. Data were then analyzed through a deontological and teleological ethical theoretical framework. Findings highlight the reasons leading to the continuation of (...) norms including weak regulations, physicians’ expectations of receiving favors, and limited exposure to bioethics education. O presente artigo objetiva abordar a questão da atualização e formação docente centrada na alfabetização e letramento nos anos iniciais da educação básica no contexto de Cametá, cidade da região do Baixo Tocantins, no interior do Pará. O texto apresenta brevemente a realidade da Secretaria Municipal de Educação, órgão responsável pela formação dos(as) professores(as) da rede de ensino público municipal, e realiza uma análise sobre os percursos traçados pela gestão municipal de educação com relação às políticas públicas implementadas nos últimos (...) anos sobre alfabetização e letramento nos anos iniciais do ensino básico, destacando algumas ações do atual Programa Alfabetiza Pará. A realidade analisada foi permeada pela leitura dos autores Freire (1970, 1989), Soares (1998; 2004) e Cagliari (2006). Os resultados apontam que os programas de formação de profesores e professoras alfabetizadores(as) devem levar em consideração fatores indispensáveis como: contextualização da realidade local, aproveitamento dos recursos existentes, leitura do mundo precedendo/constituindo o processo de alfabetização nos anos iniciais da educação básica, entre outros. Max Horkheimer’s intellectual project, known as critical Theory, was crucial to revealing the contradictions and illusions of capitalist modernity. There is no doubt that the contributions from the Frankfurt School continue to be necessary for a critique of the destructive dynamic of the formation of social hegemony: instrumental rationality, cultural industry, a deepening of social antagonisms, the self-destruction of the Enlightenment, the pedagogy of oppression, amongst other things. However, since the decolonial turn, it is possible to observe some limits of (...) its critique of modernity. While some countries are moving toward legalization, euthanasia is still criticized on various fronts. Most importantly, it is considered a violation of the medical ethics principle of non-maleficence, because it actively seeks a patient’s death. But, medical ethicists should consider an ethical alternative to euthanasia. In this article, we defend cryocide as one such alternative. Under this procedure, with the consent of terminally-ill patients, their clinical death is induced, in order to prevent the further advance of their brain’s deterioration. Their (...) body is then cryogenically preserved, in the hope that in the future, there will be a technology to reanimate it. This prospect is ethically distinct from euthanasia if a different criterion of death is assumed. In the information-theoretic criterion of death, a person is not considered dead when brain and cardiopulmonary functions cease, but rather, when information constituting psychology and memory is lost. En la Antigüedad, el Libro de Job intentó ofrecer una respuesta que perduró hasta tiempos modernos. En el siglo XVII, Leibniz ofreció una respuesta mucho más racionalizada, propia de los tiempos modernos. Joseph de Maistre, un contrarrevolucionario del siglo (...) During the last ten years I have been working on the process of conversion to Protestantism of the indigenous people in Chimborazo province, Ecuador. Protestant evangelization in Ecuador started in the early twentieth century, but it is only in the last thirty years that the process of conversion of the indigenous people has become a large-scale one. During the first sixty years of evangelical activity North American missionaries from the Evangelical Missionary Union baptized only four natives in Chimborazo province. This (...) period was marked by strenuous resistance and rejection of the new religion. Accounts given by missionaries of the period describe the disasters and difficulties that the first evangelizing mission suffered. It was only the conviction that lost souls had to be saved that helped them overcome adversities and later achieve amazing results. (shrink)

This article studies the mathematical properties of two systems that model Aristotle's original syllogistic and the relationship obtaining between them. These systems are Corcoran's natural deduction syllogistic and ?ukasiewicz's axiomatization of the syllogistic. We show that by translating the former into a first-order theory, which we call T RD, we can establish a precise relationship between the two systems. We prove within the framework of first-order logic a number of logical properties about T RD that bear upon the same properties (...) of the natural deduction counterpart ? that is, Corcoran's system. Moreover, the first-order logic framework that we work with allows us to understand how complicated the semantics of the syllogistic is in providing us with examples of bizarre, unexpected interpretations of the syllogistic rules. Primeiramente, é exposta brevemente a teoria educacional de Hannah Arendt com base no texto A crise na educação, seu único texto eminentemente educacional. Por se articular com o todo de sua obra, faz-se também incursões na vasta obra da autora, a fim de ampliar a compreensão do sentido da educação no conjunto da filosofia e da teoria (...) política arendtiana. Posteriormente, é tratada a crítica objeto deste artigo, propriamente dita, com base numa análise do texto Democracia e Educação, de Dewey, à luz da teoria arendtiana. (shrink)

O artigo apresenta questões consideradas centrais na reflexão sobre o processo de alfabetização e letramento e as intervenções da prática docente. Inicialmente apresentamos uma ampla abordagem conceitual sobre os referidos temas no contexto da sala de aula, evidenciando a necessidade de ampliar as experiências letradas sem negar a base alfabética, pois ambos são fundamentais para que o sujeito possa participar autonomamente dos diferentes eventos sociais. Em seguida apresentamos alguns dados da pesquisa de campo a qual objetivou investigar como se dá (...) o trabalho docente no processo de alfabetização e letramento, tomando como referência uma escola pública de ensino fundamental da Rede de Ensino do Estado da Bahia que atende um público heterogêneo, proveniente de famílias das classes populares urbanas e rurais. Os sujeitos foram quatro professoras do primeiro ciclo do Ensino Fundamental e a metodologia utilizada foi a observação participante no ambiente escolar e a realização de entrevistas semi­estruturadas, que contemplaram três questões básicas, a saber: 1. Como alfabetiza? 2. O que entende por alfabetizar letrando? 3. Quais as atividades/ações que considera essenciais para alfabetizar letrando? Os resultados da pesquisa revelaram uma grande fragilidade na prática docente no que se refere ao processo indissociável de alfabetizar e letrar, pois as professoras nas suas narrativas afirmaram utilizar atividades dissociadas dos eventos de letramento e na prática observada in loco foi possível perceber um grande distanciamento das ações docentes com as discussões atuais no que se refere a necessidade de articular a aquisição da base alfabética aos seus usos sociais reais. Por fim apresentamos algumas possibilidades para fortalecer as práticas docentes no que se refere ao processo de alfabetizar letrando. (shrink)

Ele – o editorial – deve ainda deixar de lado o cunho informativo habitual de um texto para expressar-se de forma “segura” sobre um tema, e, para isso, a empiria é deixada de lado na intenção de ressaltar o caráter opinativo. Na contemporaneidade da era digital, sujeitos são solapados pela pandemia tecnológica que emprega em suas vidas novas maneiras de agir e pensar. A sociedade do desempenho é produto desse novo período. Cobranças excessivas e excesso de positividade marcam sujeitos adoecidos com patologias psicossomáticas, tais como ansiedade e depressão. No contexto escolar, tal realidade é exponencial, devido às cobranças sobre discentes, negação de emoções que não seguem a lógica do desempenho e “irrelevância” de disciplinas que questionam esse devir social. A reflexão (...) presente neste artigo pondera o ensino de filosofia como marco emancipatório do fenômeno supracitado e, além disso, possui o objetivo de salientar a importância de considerar as emoções dos alunos como ferramenta auxiliadora da aprendizagem, em contramão ao nexo de um corpo social dominado pelo desempenho. A metodologia guiadora da pesquisa é teórico bibliográfica crítica. O presente estudo divide-se em 3 tópicos que examinam a realidade digital na vida humana, bem como as inferências na realidade escolar e o ensino de filosofia como prática resistente sobre a acriticidade. Como resultado, concluiu-se que, a lógica neoliberal de desempenho tecnológica é um utensílio poderoso na formatação dos sujeitos e na expropriação e exploração de um indivíduo envolto do capitalismo de vigilância e capitalismo da informação. Ambos os fenômenos são oriundos desse meio tomado pela realidade digital e que afetam, diretamente, o ambiente escolar. Contudo, o ensino filosófico, respaldado na importância de ponderar a realidade e as emoções discentes, evoca-se como magistral forma de resistência e perseverança na formação da criticidade. Tendo como fio condutor a ideia de que os ensaios de Walter Benjamin potencializam-se e se iluminam quando lidos em conjunto, este ensaio pretende, a partir da divisa adorniana a respeito das disposições do ensaísta – “entre as quais a disponibilidade de quem, como uma criança, não tem vergonha de se entusiasmar com o que os outros já fizeram” – apresentar uma leitura de Infância Berlinense: 1900, procurando estabelecer os contatos, ora implícitos ora explícitos, entre esse livro e outros trabalhos (...) do autor, como o ensaio sobre a doutrina das semelhanças. Com esse percurso pretenderemos demonstrar que a noção de mímesis, discutida em sua complexidade, pode fornecer uma chave de leitura importante para se compreender momentos mais turvos do ensaísmo benjaminiano, entre os quais, um momento decisivo do livro sobre o Drama Barroco. Resumo: Este artigo busca compreender a situaçáo filosófica de alguns dos autores cujas vidas e cujos pensamentos estiveram entre Kant e Hegel. Romantismo alemáo foi como ficou conhecida esta época. Dentre seus primeiros autores, estiveram Friedrich Schlegel e Novalis, além de Hölderlin. Tais pensadores buscaram superar a crítica feita por Kant à pretensáo do conhecimento filosófico de alcançar a verdade absoluta, as coisas como sáo em si mesmas. Essa superaçáo, contudo, jamais conseguiu, para eles, completar-se – como aconteceria depois no (...) sistema de Hegel, para quem contradições só seriam aceitas como etapas do que chamou de dialética, cuja essência era, ao fim, solucioná-las na figura da síntese. Limitaçáo finita do homem diante do todo do ser, como firmara Kant, era o que ficava para trás com Hegel. Schlegel, Novalis e Hölderlin náo se contentam com a crítica de Kant, mas tampouco acreditam na síntese de Hegel. Parecem sugerir outro caminho para a modernidade ocidental, que náo se jogava na sanha hegeliana pelo saber absoluto sem despertá-la, toda vez, pela consciência crítica kantiana – e que náo se contentava com esta sem sonhar com aquela. Abstract This paper describes the early history of magnetochemistry: the search for chemical effects of magnetism in the nineteenth century. Some early researchers, such as Johann Wilhelm Ritter, attempted to reproduce with magnets the effects that had been produced by electricity and Volta’s battery. For several decades, researchers successively reported positive results and denied claims concerning the effect of magnetism in oxidation, electrolysis, reduction of metals from saline solutions, crystallisation, change of colour of vegetable tinctures and other chemical reactions. In (...) the two last decades of the nineteenth century some effects were accepted as real, and a thermodynamic theory of the influence of magnetic fields upon chemical reactions was developed. Finally, Dragomir Hurmuzescu was able to create reproducible experiments and measured the electromotive force between two electrodes, with or without the presence of magnetic fields, confirming the existence of the phenomenon and obtaining results compatible with the theoretical predictions. Afterwards, this magnetochemical effect was accepted as real, but the effect was weak and its practical importance was negligible. The subject was gradually forgotten. An analysis of the extension of the Hawking-Penrose singularity theorem to Riemann-Cartan U4 space-times with torsion and spin density is undertaken. The minimal coupling principle in U4 is used to formulate a new expression for the convergence condition autoparallels in Einstein-Cartan theory. The Gödel model with torsion is given as an example.

This paper studies the history of teleological thought in Antiquity, after Aristotle, analyzing three relevant episodes: the contribution of Theophrastus – a companion and successor of Aristotle; Stoicism, as described by Cicero in his work On the nature of gods; and Galen’s anatomical and physiological works, especially his book On the utility of the parts of the human body. This analysis exhibits the broad diversity of views concerning final causes in Antiquity, all of them widely different from Aristotle’s one, and (...) the strong influence of theological concerns in some of those philosophers – such as the Stoics and Galen. The Roe v. Wade decision was overturned in the United States in 2022. This implies that while abortion remains legal in most jurisdictions, it is no longer a constitutional right, thus paving the way for making it illegal. Ever since the Roe v. Wade decision, there have been bombings and other violent attacks against abortion providers and abortion clinics, claiming some fatal victims. The overwhelming majority of anti-abortion activists condemn such violence. At the same time, most anti-abortion activists consider the (...) fetus a person, and ultimately believe that abortion is a form of murder. In this article, I argue that if abortion is murder, then anti-abortion violent activists have moral license to bomb abortion clinics. To do so, I rely on the principles of Just War theory. Ultimately, I rely on a modus tollens argument to prove that abortion is not murder: if abortion is murder, then activists have moral justification in bombing abortion clinics; activists do not have moral justification in bombing abortion clinics; therefore, abortion is not murder. Apart from attempting to prove that abortion is not murder, I also attempt to show the incoherence of the anti-abortion view. (shrink)

Michael Walzer’s article ‘Political action: the problem of dirty hands’ initiated a new wave of discussion over a persistent problem in moral philosophy: are there situations in which ethical rules must be relaxed so as to bring about a greater good? In this article, we consider whether this ‘dirty hands’ approach may be applied to our current climate crisis. One proposed solution to the problem of global warming is the administration of moral enhancements to the population. Assuming that the administration (...) of moral enhancements is a necessary condition in the prevention of a climate crisis, Parker Crutchfield argues that this procedure ought to be covert. This implies lying to the public, and such dishonesty amounts to immoral behavior. We conclude that despite the severity of global warming, there is no justification for a dirty hands approach. Lying to the public in order to save the planet would probably create bigger problems, and it would ultimately be very counterproductive in trying to save the planet. (shrink)

Bien que les théories de la conspiration médicale existent depuis au moins deux siècles, elles sont devenues plus populaires et plus persistantes ces derniers temps. C’est devenu un problème urgent pour la pratique médicale, car ces croyances irrationnelles peuvent constituer un obstacle à des procédures médicales importantes, telles que la vaccination. Si les spécialistes s’accordent à dire que le problème des théories de la conspiration médicale doit être abordé, il n’y a pas de consensus sur la meilleure approche à adopter. (...) Dans cet article, nous évaluons quelques stratégies. Malgré les risques encourus, il est important de s’intéresser aux théories de la conspiration médicale et de les réfuter. Toutefois, la proposition de le faire dans le cadre d’une “infiltration cognitive” est trop risquée. Les médias ont un rôle majeur à jouer dans la réfutation des théories de la conspiration médicale, mais il est important que les journalistes ne politisent pas cette tâche. Deux autres stratégies à long terme sont également nécessaires: la stimulation de la pensée critique dans l’enseignement et l’autonomisation des groupes traditionnellement marginalisés. (shrink)

This paper reconstructs Merleau-Ponty’s philosophical project in terms of a phenomenology of sensible transcendence. According to this framework, (i) any given data are correlative to a subjective apprehension, (ii) but they cannot be fully captured by this same experience. Therefore, subjective apprehension must remain open to a type of absence or radical indeterminacy. This notion of transcendence must be grounded in bodily experience, and the challenge is to develop a notion of logos that can account for its sensible donation. We (...) describe that the critical apparatus mobilized to achieve this goal, primarily through the notions of “field of presence” and “presentation”, restores a logic of consciousness in these analyses that focus on the body. This paper discusses the role of cultural anthropology in Cognitive Science. Culture is described as a very large pool of information passed along from generation to generation, composed of learned “programs” for action and understanding. These cultural programs differ in important ways from computer programs. Cultural programs tend to be unspecified and inexplicit rather than clearly stated algorithms learned through a slow process of guided discovery, and involve the manipulation of content based rather than formal symbol systems. Cultural symbol systems (...) often have affective as well as objective referents, giving them a strong directive effect. The argument is made that in the process of repeated social transmission and use, cultural programs come to take forms which have a good “fit” to the natural capacities and constraints of the human information processing system. Pretendemos analisar a crítica ao direito marxiana exposta nos comentários à obra Lectures on the early history of institutions, do jurista inglês Henry Sumner Maine, presentes nos "assim chamados" Cadernos Etnológicos. Para tal, passaremos pela crítica de Karl Marx à teoria do direito de Maine, passando também por considerações sobre os juristas analíticos John Austin e Jeremy Bentham, nos quais o autor das Lectures se baseia fortemente. Em seguida, trataremos das críticas à concepção de Maine sobre a origem do Estado (...) e do direito. Então, explicaremos como Marx se contrapõe a Maine voltando-se para o solo da história real, e assim analisa a gênese e o desenvolvimento direito na Irlanda e sua associação com a religião cristã, tanto antes quanto durante a colonização inglesa, observando também a violência por trás da imposição das leis coloniais. Isometry hypotheses are propositions that assert the constancy of a specific physical magnitude of a system under prescribed conditions. This paper addresses the controversy concerning the conventionality of this type of hypotheses. It discusses several instances of isometry hypotheses and it is shown that experimental facts can be invoked to criticise (or "refute") isometry hypotheses, just as other types of hypotheses. This proves that isometry hypotheses, and the choices of measurement standards that are grounded in such hypotheses, are not merely (...) conventional. (shrink)

Sua principal preocupação é ali exposta em sua inevitabilidade, mas também em sua dificuldade mais própria. Trata-se da descoberta da transcendência como aquilo que motiva o pensamento e a ação, da filosofia à sua assunção como ética. I argue for a non-reductive integration between physical and biological approaches based on the notion of information as interpretation. Thus I outline a scheme based on Peirce’ semiosis in which the relation between environmental physical perturbations and responses (internal and external) are mediated by the “system of interpretation” that detects and interpret them as informative signals, so giving rise to structural internal accommodations and to actions that are implemented on the external environment. Therefore I argue that “systems of interpretation” can (...) be equated to Zurek´s information gathering and using systems (IGUS) and complex adaptive systems (CAS). In order to apply these model to the problem of adaptive evolution, I examine Zurek´s theory known as “quantum Darwinism”, according to which the environment eliminates the immense majority of the super-positions of quantum systems leaving only the “preferred states”, among which are chosen those that are in fact can be realized in the classical world. To end up I justify that semiosis permits to apply quantum Darwinism to the evolution of CAS, and I argue that the debate between (Neo)-Lamarckian and Neo-Darwinian schools must be reassessed in terms more in accord with quantum physics. Finally semiosis (that is information understood as interpretation) would justify the deep analogy between quantum physical and biological models of adaptive evolution. (shrink)

The rapid advancement of artificial intelligence (AI) has profoundly transformed many people's lives, ChatGPT being a clear example, whose capabilities have substantially influenced the automation of tasks such as writing texts and providing information sources for researchers. This review article aims to understand the impact of AI on academic writing and why its use can be considered plagiarism. The Prism method was used to analyze the studies, which initially totaled 824, and after excluding them for duplicity and by title, a (...) total of 137 were left, of which we proceeded to review those that were open access and those that were related to the study, obtaining a total of 54 manuscripts closely related to the research topic; the results were then segmented into three questions, What are the text-matching tools that help to identify the use of AI in article writing?, What strategies are used to regulate the use of AI in writing scientific articles? and What techniques are used to detect AI-generated text?, which were key to comparing the results of the review with the findings of the authors belonging to the literature review. The results showed that, from 2022 onwards, AI became a recurring topic among researchers in China and the United States, allowing the emergence of popular techniques and software such as Turnitin or GPTZero to identify when these linguistic models were used in writing tasks, as well as strategies to regulate their use in controlled environments. In the end, it was concluded that there is a fine line between ethics and abuse of AI capabilities, and further research and study of different techniques is recommended to recognize when these tools are blatantly used. Tomar a Regra IV como a junção ? sem o aval de Descartes ? de dois textos distintos passou a ser um lugar comum na literatura sobre aquele texto. Seria necessário explicar a distinção entre os textos recorrendo à outra importante distinção: entre mathesis universalis e método. Com efeito, nosso artigo tenta pôr em questão essa interpretação clássica na medida em que pretende mostrar que a revisão que se opera no seio da matemática torna-a menos uma ciência das grandezas abstratas (...) que um método que constrange as ciências a instituir a ordem e a medida em seus estudos. Em outras palavras, pode-se pensar que a discussão sobre a matemática em que se ocupa a Regra IV tem como objetivo uma universalização das operações de ordem e medida, em detrimento de uma compreensão da matemática como ciência das grandezas abstratas.
