Zebrane w niniejszej publikacji prace są owocem namysłu zarówno badaczy przyrody, jak i filozofów oraz teologów. Prezentują one różnorodne spojrzenie na elementy dziejów dialogu między naukami przyrodniczymi, filozofią i teologią, a także własne poszukiwania autorów dotyczące współczesnych aspektów tej problematyki. W pierwszej części zostanie przedstawione spojrzenie na charakterystyczne punkty historycznego procesu formowania się relacji między różnymi dziedzinami ludzkiego poznania. Czytelnik będzie mógł prześledzić etapy jednoczenia się religijnego i filozoficznego obrazu rzeczywistości na gruncie chrześcijańskiej starożytności i średniowiecza. Ukazane też zostanie (...) oświeceniowe rozejście się teologii i nowożytnej filozofii pod wpływem rozwoju nauk szczegółowych. Współczesny etap poszukiwań obszarów i perspektyw, w których możliwy jest dialog pomiędzy wyodrębnionymi z filozofii naukami przyrodniczymi a samą filozofią oraz teologią, zostanie zaprezentowany w drugiej części niniejszej publikacji. Składają się na nią artykuły dotyczące zarówno aspektów metodologicznych, jak i konkretnych problemów pojawiających się na styku elementów triady: przyrodoznawstwo – filozofia – teologia. (shrink)

Artykuł proponuje rozumienie filozofii jako współmyślenia, rozumianego m.in. tak, jak ujmuje to Cezary Wodziński, czyli współmyślenie z filozofem, którego dzieło ma charakter swoistego wyzwania. Jednakże wyzwaniem może być wiele innych zjawisk czy wydarzeń, jak np. zamach 9/11, pandemie, skażenie środowiska itp. Filozofia w całości jest ponadczasową praktyką współmyślenia. Współmyślenie wynika oczywiście ze „współbycia”. Według innych współmyślenie filozoficzne jest dzieleniem wspólnej miłości do tego, co istotowe. Warunki współmyślenia to m.in.: wzajemny szacunek, pokora, tolerancja, otwartość, rzetelność myślenia, polemika ad rem. Kierunkiem (...) filozoficznym, który współmyślenie stawia w centrum swojej uwagi, jest niewątpliwie filozofia dialogu. Filozofia musi być otwartością na to, co Inne. W ten sposób myślenie filozoficzne może wyrastać ze wspólnej troski myślicieli o los człowieka i cywilizacji. (shrink)

W dniach 15–16 października 2019 roku na Uniwersytecie Kardynała Stefana Wyszyńskiego w Warszawie miało miejsce międzynarodowe sympozjum naukowe pt. "Przyrodoznawstwo – filozofia – teologia. Obszary i perspektywy dialogu". W konferencji wzięło udział ponad dwudziestu naukowców z dziesięciu krajów.

Celem artykułu jest rekonstrukcja i krytyczna ocena modelu tomistycznej filozofii człowieka, który został opracowany przez o. Romana Darowskiego. Analizy mają charakter metateoretyczny. Ich przedmiotem są teksty napisane przez o. Darowskiego w różnych okresach jego twórczości filozoficznej. W sposób szczególny uwzględniona została jego praca _Filozofia człowieka_, która miała kilka wydań. Zastosowana metoda badawcza polegała na treściowej i logicznej rekonstrukcji modelu filozofii człowieka przedstawionego w pracy _Filozofia człowieka_. Model ten został poddany krytyce metodologicznej, która pokazała, że w obecnej sytuacji kulturowej ma on (...) już tylko wartość historyczną. Może jednak stanowić dobry punkt wyjścia do dyskusji nad kierunkami rozwoju współczesnej antropologii tomistycznej. Rozwój ten powinien dokonywać się w krytycznym dialogu z naukowym obrazem świata. W swojej najnowszej książce Etyka a problem podmiotu (2022) Piotr Duchliński, Andrzej Kobyliński, Ryszard Moń i Ewa Podrez podejmują zagadnienia podmiotu i podmiotowości w perspektywie etycznej. Zabierają głos w filozoficznym sporze o podmiotowość, który rozpoznają jako podstawę wielu współczesnych problemów kultury. Jako przedstawiciele filozofii chrześcijańskiej wyrażają swój sprzeciw wobec wszelkich prób osłabienia kategorii podmiotu w etyce, jednak w celu zapoczątkowania dialogu z przedstawicielami innych nurtów filozoficznych podejmują próbę sformułowania koncepcji podmiotowości mocnej bez odniesienia do kategorii metafizycznych. W czterech rozdziałach (...) recenzowanej monografii autorzy zwracają uwagę na takie aspekty podmiotowości, jak: racjonalność, narracyjność, autonomia, integralność i autentyczność, oraz poddają analizie koncepcje podmiotowości w wersji mocnej i słabej. Pozwala im to ukazać spór o podmiotowość jako fundamentalną debatę naszych czasów, mającą nie tylko implikacje etyczne, lecz także niekiedy trudniejsze do przewidzenia konsekwencje bioetyczne, prawne i społeczne. Różnorodność i bogactwo podejmowanych zagadnień zachęcają do konfrontacji z zajętym przez autorów stanowiskiem i podjęcia z nim rzeczowej dyskusji. ----------------------------------------- Zgłoszono: 02/01/2024. Cultural, social and religious diversity is one of the most valued and most valuable aspects of our contemporary, globalized world. Sometimes it even tends to be described as a gift and invitation to dialogue instead of conflict and confrontation, as numerous authors – Samuel P. Huntington, Mary Habeck, Paul Berman, Bruce Bawer and many other – would have us to believe. Especially dialogue among religions – Judaism, Buddhism, Christianity and Islam – is an object of peculiar interest, expectations and hopes. (...) Within the paper recent dialogic tendencies in cultures and societies are presented as one of the most important manifestations of humanism (both religious and a-religious), which is reconstructed in reference to social change, modernization, enlightenment, toleration and pluralism as phenomena analyzed and deliberated by Fracis Bacon on one hand and contemporary Macedonian philosopher and Muslim theologian, Ismail Bardhi, on the other. Is enlightenment without secularization possible? Does religious passion and zeal always lead to suspension, “overcoming”, elimination of reason? In the conclusion of the paper the significance of works by young Polish artist, Joanna Rajkowska, is being highlighted as an example of humanism and dialogism which struggle with recent waves of islamophobia in Europe. The article analyses two first Schelling's works devoted to philosophy of identity: "Darstellung meines Systems der Philosophie" from 1801 and dialogue "Bruno oder über das göttliche und natürliche Prinzip der Dinge" from 1820. In the first one the absolute mind is presented as absolute qualitative identity of object and subject, as absolutely simple and not diverse substance. The form of being of absolute identity is cognition, which realises as infinite constitution of object. Particular things as potencies are quantitative difference between (...) that which is subjective and that which is objective. According to dialogue Bruno, idea as true and eternal reality is unity of what is real and ideal, finite and unfinite. On the other hand, finite things contain their opposite (lack of unity) of their components. (shrink)

The teaching of John Paul II clearly articulates the strain of human rights. The Pope initiates a dialogue with the Enlightenment tradition and develops the theological and philosophical foundations of the culture of human rights. Karola Wojtyła’s personalistic thought appears to be a very coherent and reliable key to understand the doctrine of human rights. Wojtyła stresses subjectivity and non-reducibility of the person as a concrete human „I.” It is both autonomy and transcendence that constitute dignity of the person towards (...) other personal and impersonal beings. Około trzydziestu lat temu G. Picht pisząc esej filozoficzny o pojęciu odpowiedzialnosci mógl stwierdzić, ze zna tylko jedną monografiię poswieconą temo zagadnieniu. Dzisiaj istnieje juz wiele studiów o odpowiedzialności, a wydana w niedługim czasie po publikacji Pichta rozprawa R. Ingardena, zdążyła stać się klasyczną. Pomimo tej obfitości analiz - a raczej, dzięki niej - pytania o odpowiedzialność i „do odpowiedzialności" powracają. Rodzą się one zresztą nie tylko w kontekscie uczonych dysput ; przynosi je „samo życie". To przecież codzienność jest miejscem (...) „zdziwienia" i impulsem dla ruchu mysli filozoficznej. Do tejże codzienności filozofia nieustannie powraca, w zamiarze dochodzenia do tego, "jak jest naprawdę". W niniejszych rozważaniach o odpowiedzialności, nie rezygnując z odniesienia do potocznego doświadczenia, chcemy wejść w dialog z myslą Martina Bubera, który swoje zadanie filozoficzne pojmował jako "prowadzenie rozmowy" i wskazywanie „na coś w rzeczywistości, co nie zostalo zauważone lub jest za mało dostrzegane". Był on jednym z tych myślicieli, dzięki którym pojęcie odpowiedzialności zostało wprowadzone do filozofii i teologii w nowym, a przynajmniej „malo dostrzeganym" przez tradycję znaczeniu. The paper analyzes the concepts of truth and dialogue in the frame of current neutralist liberalism. According to neutral liberals, we should not introduce the concept of moral truth into the liberal dialogue, because currently we are unable to choose rationally the true moral claim among rival moral ideals. Rather, as Bruce Ackerman says, we should leave aside all moral ideals about which we currently disagree. However, resignation concerning the concept of truth in political discourse is not as unquestionable as (...) liberals would like to proclaim. It is not even neutral. There are things which we cannot leave aside and still consider ourselves being morally neutral: for example, problems of abortion, euthanasia, cloning etc. Further, without the concept of truth we are unable to have a theory of human being, which we need in order to determine, who is allowed to take part in the po_litical dialogue. Even though in the contemporary political theory the neutral li_beralism is definitely an attractive solution, it has serious flaws, which we should not ignore neither in philosophical debate nor in the institutional designing of our societies. The study analyses a narrative monologue, an inner monologue, and a monologue which includes a dialogue between the author and the reader/spectator, from the point of view of the recipient’s participation in the narrative. It employs Muka?ovský’s analysis of to what extent a monologue is present in every dialogue as well as latent and sometimes manifest dialogue features present in every monologue, along with the side-participation of hearer/spectator. The notion of side-participation is expanded on the triangular model of attention with (...) continual presence of ego-consciousness. Thus every monologue has a side-participant who consequently holds a conversation with himself, especially in the case of an aesthetic attitude. Each member of a communicative situation embodies three roles: those of a speaker, a hearer and a side-participant. (shrink)

From the Will of Knowledge to the Care-of-the-Self. Michel Foucault’s Philosophy of the Subject 1976–1982 The following article is an exploration of the intellectual journey of the French philosopher Michel Foucault in its latest period, from the Will to Knowledge, first book of the History of Sexuality, up to the later idea of care-of-the-self. The idea of the care-of-the-self is treated here as the culmination of Foucault’s philosophy, as well as its most mature expression. Maturity here means that, according to (...) this concept, the subject is not perceived as the passive outcome of games played between the forces of knowledge and power, as it was presented in the writings of Foucault from the 1960s and 1970s, but, thanks to his own actions, directed at himself, so called practices of the Self, the subject is able to create itself, in separation from the outside influences that bind him. In the context and in contrast to the idea of the care of self is the idea of self-knowledge, a solely intellectual perspective, for which – according to Foucault – the care of the self was abandoned by philosophers for many centuries. A part of the goal of this study is to demonstrate that the concept of the care of the self was introduced through a conceptual evolution, in which certain ideas, gradually changing their meanings, morphed into other ideas, to arrive at the point where the ancient Greek idea of epimeleia heautou, care of the self, was necessary to be introduced. The principal sources for Foucault’s analyses were the writings of Stoics and Epicureans from the 1st and 2nd centuries A.D., as well as the Plato’s dialogue The First Alcibiades. A method of close-reading of the published works of Foucault and the transcripts of his lectures from a period of 1976 to 1982 was used to prove the above mentioned argument. The central goal of this thesis was largely accomplished – it has been demonstrated that Foucault, by examining various Stoic and Epicurean practices of the Self, showed that the subject is not determined to be formed solely as a result of the games of knowledge and power. Thanks to the concept of care of the self, Foucault had drawn a much larger margin of freedom for the individual, than he did in his earlier works. (shrink)

Long before the multiculturalism and globalism became the well-known controversial slogans of our time, Michel Foucault in a brief and otherwise not important interview expressed a courageous idea, that the future of philosophy, finding itself in a deep crisis at present, might depend on its encounter with Asiatic thinking. In 1978 during his stay in Japan Foucault proclaimed the end of Western philosophy. According to him if any philosophy is to exist in future, it will have to come to existence (...) aside Europe or as a result of the encounter of European and Non-European thinking. One way or other, the author is deeply convinced, that it is from this encounter that the most shining future of philosophy is to expect. (shrink)

The aim of a comparison of two traditions is not an aim in itself. In the paper the,approximation" of two cultures has the role of a mirror of self-comprehension. Merleau-Ponty's intention to bring philosophy,down to earth" is implemented by the boundaries of ,,inner-outer" and crossing subjectivity and objectivity in the Cartesian paradigm. His phenomenology of the body is,understandable" or, better to say ,,elucidatory" through the term of pranayama - the yogic breath control. Emphasis on experiencing ,,movement in space" - dimensionality, (...) is endorsing this relationship. Moreover, both approaches have a common point: reversibility - switch, or reverse - of the figure and the ground back and forth at will. In Merleau-Ponty's concept of the Jived body" the reversibility is a continuum of the world and the body and in yoga it is pranic inspiration-expiration experience. (shrink)

This is a dialogue between an opponent of the phenomenal concept strategy and Mary from Frank Jackson’s knowledge argument. In this dialogue, Mary, who has complete physical knowledge about what it is like to see red, but has never seen red, is a physicalist and she defends the phenomenal concept strategy against her interlocutor’s objections. In the end, none of them is able to convince the other, but their conversation, through considerations of different versions of the knowledge argument and different (...) applications of the phenomenal concept strategy, reveals the most basic disagreement, or clash of intuitions, they have. The implied conclusion of the dialogue is that the disagreement on the success of phenomenal concept strategy as a physicalist response to the knowledge argument cannot be resolved unless this particular clash of intuitions is resolved. W artykule przedstawiono etyczny aspekt idei wolności, jednej z głównych koncepcji filozofii Józefa Tischnera. Krakowski filozof w swej twórczości pierwotnie ukazywał wolność w horyzoncie etyki ufundowanej na doświadczeniu apelu wartości przedmiotowych i ich hierarchii – zaczerpniętej od Maksa Schelera. Następnie, pod wpływem twórczości Emmanuela Lévinasa, wzbogacił swa koncepcje wolności o doświadczenie „mowy” twarzy inne- go. Tym samym w jego filozofii zarysowało się napięcie miedzy dwoma paradygmatami myślowymi: fenomenologia wartości i filozofia dialogu. Ostatecznie można pogodzisz powyższe paradygmaty. Takowa synteza (...) ukazuje specyfikę i nowatorstwo idei wolności tworzonej przez Józefa Tischnera. (shrink)

Platon w dialogu "Państwo" sam określił mianem widziadła model sprawiedliwości oparty na konstrukcji "państwa idealnego", w oczywisty sposób dystansując się do tego modelu. Jedynie widziadłem sprawiedliwości jest zatem to, że każdy ma się zajmować czymś jednym, że "człowiek, który jest szewcem z natury, najlepiej zrobi, jeżeli zostanie przy swoim kopycie i nic innego nie będzie próbował"; jedynie widziadłem jest także to, że jednostka jest dla państwa a nie państwo dla jednostki. Argumentuje się, że - zdaniem Platona - jeden i (...) ten sam człowiek sprawiedliwy, zatem człowiek doskonały, zajmuje się w swoim życiu nie tylko polityką (rządzeniem państwem, filozofią), ale i ćwiczeniem ciała, aby być zdolnym do walki, i zdobywaniem majątku. Tekst należy do tej współczesnej tradycji refleksji nad Platonem, w której obecne jest przekonanie, że wykładu o Platona koncepcji sprawiedliwości nie powinno opierać się na lekturze Karla Poppera "Społeczeństwa otwartego". W maju 1998 roku odbyła się w Monachium międzynarodowa konferencja poświęcona zagadnieniu racjonalności teizmu. Temat to szeroko dyskutowany w ostatnich czasach, stąd wydawać by się mogło, że zorganizowanie jeszcze jednej sesji, która przyciągnęłaby uwagę środowiska filozofów religii, będzie przedsięwzięciem wyjątkowo trudnym. Tymczasem monachijska debata zasłużyła sobie na miano wydarzenia. O jej atrakcyjności zadecydował fakt, że została pomyślana jako próba ożywienia dialogu pomiędzy filozofami nawiązującymi do tradycji kontynentalnej z przedstawicielami filozofii analitycznej. Tego rodzaju ekumeniczne inicjatywy nalezą w tej dziedzinie do (...) rzadkości. Ten swoisty izolacjonizm ma wiele przyczyn, a kością niezgody jest między innymi stosunek do Kanta. Postkantowska kontynentalna filozofia religii, kładąca nacisk na epistemologię i fenomenologię doświadczenia religijnego, postrzega anglosaski renesans badań nad klasycznymi problemami teodycealnymi jako nawrót do przedkrytycznego dogmatyzmu. Z kolei niektórzy analityczni filozofowie religii zdają się uprawiać swą dyscyplinę w taki sposób, jak gdyby kopernikański przewrót Kanta uważali za niebyły, a czasem nazywają expressis verbis epoką nowożytną okresem błędów i wypaczeń. Epistemologiczne zagadnienie racjonalności religii należy do kręgu zainteresowań obydwu wymienionych tradycji, stad możliwe jest tu połączenie wysiłków w celu uporządkowania tematyki i oceny aktualnego stanu refleksji. W obszarze moich badań znalazła się problematyka wartości w lirykach Jacka Bierezina (1947–1993), poety i opozycjonisty urodzonego w Łodzi i z tym miastem związanego przez większość życia. Zajmują mnie jej związki z estetyką pokolenia ’68 oraz autorytetami autora, w przypadku poezji Bierezina możemy mówić bowiem o biografii jako literackim tworzywie. Temat ten badam, posługując się fenomenologią i aksjologią. Uważam, że wartości konstytuują się najmocniej i wyłaniają w sytuacjach granicznych, są pochodną wolności i wyboru, zatem za Józefem Tischnerem badam je jako (...) fenomen graniczny. Powiązane są z fenomenami miejsca i czasu, osadzone w dziejowości, co pokazuje filozofia spotkania i dialogu Tischnera, z którego dorobku korzystam. Poruszam się w filozofii dramatu oraz dwóch przestrzeniach: Ja aksjologicznego oraz Innego. Z filozofii spotkania wynika również komunikacyjna funkcja Innego. W poezji Bierezina ujawnia się ona w sprzeciwie wobec milczącej zgody na zło. Z zagadnieniem wartości łączy się problem aksjologii, wręcz programowo wyeksponowany w lirykach łódzkiego poety, deklarującego się jako uczeń Zbigniewa Herberta. Sumienie, wierność, piękno i smak to słowa-klucze poety-maksymalisty, który wybrał, za autorem Pana Cogito, jedną z najtrudniejszych dróg. (shrink)

The problem of interpreting music’s function or role is scrutinized by grounding music’s significance through a selected reading of Platonic philosophy and a reinterpretation of the concept of “pharmakon” familiar to ancient Greeks, and in particular, the Athenians. Views on both mousike and the artistic practice of music in that era are taken into account. The “pharmakon” is analyzed through a concept of love as a harmonizing force and a variety of contexts are explicated, showing that it concerns any object (...) that gives rise to beneficial and detrimental effects. It also changes mental states or the manner of thinking in such a way that the value of the pharmakon is undecidable a priori and dependent upon an axiology of anticipation. Plato’s metaphysics and philosophy of music can be read to show that music can be both a poison and a remedy in regard to the ways it is used, which is analogous to drugs, medicine, or technological entities such as writing. In this context attention is given to the problem of mania, and how music can be both a force that gives rise to such a condition as well as a technique of alleviating it, since it is a tool for manipulating the intrapsychic dialogue of the embodied soul. -/- Znaczenie muzyki w nawiązaniu do Platona i pojęcia „farmakon" Problematyka interpretacji funkcji lub roli muzyki jest badana poprzez ugruntowanie znaczenia muzyki w wybranych wątkach filozofii Platona i reinterpretacji pojęcia „farmakon” bliskiego starożytnym Grekom, a zwłaszcza Ateńczykom. Uwzględnia się poglądy zarówno odnośnie mousike jak i ówczesnej praktyki artystycznej. „Farmakon” analizowany jest poprzez koncepcję miłości jako harmonizującej siły oraz przez różne konteksty, które są wyeksplikowane, aby wskazać na to, że dotyczy jakiegokolwiek przedmiotu, który powoduje korzystne jak i szkodliwe efekty. Zmienia także stany umysłowe lub sposób myślenia tak, że wartość farmakonu jest nierozstrzygalna a priori i powiązana z aksjologią antycypacji. Metafizyka i filozofia muzyki Platona może być czytana w sposób ukazujący, że muzyka może być zarówno trucizną jak i środkiem zaradczym, w zależności od formy jej użytkowania, co jest analogiczne z narkotykami, medycyną i technicznymi bytami takimi jak pismo. W tym kontekście zwraca się uwagę na problem szału i tego, że muzyka może być zarówno siłą, która wywołuje ów stan, jak i środkiem załagodzenia go, ponieważ jest ona narzędziem manipulacji intrapsychicznego dialogu ucieleśnionej duszy. The subject to be interrogated is the problem of the extent to which differences in meaning across cultural experiences often affect translation and the chances of human communication. This is particularly significant in a world currently plagued by oppression, domination, colonialism, conflicts, prejudices, intolerance, discrimination, inequity and misconceptions.We are examining the issue of the perception that difference is a threat to cooperation, harmony and dialogue among peoples and institutions of the world. The aim of this study is to philosophically examine (...) this idea and to show that cultural difference could be a tool for building up a world where the much required values of harmony, respect for others, reciprocity and cooperation can be established using philosophical arguments by prominent or eminent African philosophers such as Wiredu and Diop amongothers. Methodologically, this study is necessary because there is a need to examine the philosophical dimensions of this issue from an African philosophical viewpoint. Wiredu pushes the argument from cultural universals while Diop makes a case for a cultural and historical basis of difference. Our key finding has been to show that there are some key philosophical theoriesthat go beyond the views of Wiredu and Diop among others. The idea is to anchor difference on a set of moral values needed for establishing enduring intercultural dialogue on an ethical foundation. The work identifies for instance, tolerance, mutual recognition, compromise and human dignity as pillars of enduring mutually respectful intercultural communication. (shrink)

English title: Józef Tischner’s Phenomenology of Boundary Experience. Author of the paper distinguishes four paradigms of phenomenological analysis one can indicate in Tischner’s philosophical writing. Each of these paradigms captures the issue of the genuine source of phenomenological experience. This genuine source can be provided with: transcendental ‘I’, axiological ‘I’, Dasein, or the relationship to another man. By developing the latter, i.e. the paradigm based on the experience of meeting (dialogue), Tischner makes the foundations for his Philosophy of Drama (in (...) Polish: Filozofia dramatu) which should be interpreted, as Piecuch argues, in terms of the possible ways to conduct phenomenological analysis. The peculiarity of this way is that it aims at grasping various aspects of the border experience in which a man experiences the limits of one’s own thinking, activity and sensing. (shrink)

The philosophy of dialogue has lain outside the main currents of modern philoso_phy for some time. This essay deals with the outlined conceptions of several dialogical thinkers. It examines a topical problem of the "radical other" and of the limits of intentionality. In the second part the author pays attention to the problem of the univisible forms of assimilation and appropriation of the other. The main part of the article seeks to show that dialogical thinker's critique is rooted in the (...) rejection of the one-sided approach to the reality, especially to the unnoticed other. It is a claim, ignorated and drowned by the preclusive intends of theoretical or practical subject. It must be emphasised that the basic assumption of the objective ontology is that of reality, which cannot resist and bid defiance to intends and ambitions of human "hunter of truth". The famous philosophers of the dialogue or of the other on the other side argued that not only inadvertency of situatedness of theoretical subject , but also objectivism´s forgetfulness of "other-side competences" should be strictly rejetced. In the paper the contextual realism of H. Putnam's is briefly presented and accepted as an explanatory framework in which both science and every day experience are interpreted. Furthermore, a model of science as an experimental dialogue (A. Koyr) is explored. In the final section of the paper three scientific traditions: Platonic, Aristotelian, and Archimedean are recapitulated (O. Pedersen).

The paper's argumentation is for the conception of mind as an open, although internally structured system. Mind, however, is not just an actualization of dispositions, but also the accommodation and cultivation of the latter in the process of a continuous interaction with the intelligible structures of the other minds as well as with the products of the historical development of culture.The author's presupposition is, that the language as the most important product of the semiotic activity became an accelerator of the (...) evolution of culture, the basic code of human way of being. Expanding and enriching of the communication nests led to the rise of a new world, which has transcended the natural world and changed the human nature. The science investigating the human mind, which ignores the existence of the semiotic activity cuts off the substantial aspects leading to its understanding. Therefore, the author suggests the dialogue as a basic method of the examination of mind. It is the dialogue, through which the minds overcome the isolatedness of their beings and through which an intersubjectively valid knowledge is created. The dialogical method is compatible with its substance, as the mind is seen not as a monological, but rather as a dialogical entity. (shrink)

Plato did not write any systematic essay on man. The analysis of a human being as such was not among his primary interests. It was rather the relationship between the man and the society and the world. Regardless to the Plato’s fragmentary statements about man, his anthropology can be identified. The paper gives an outline of Plato’s vision of man on the basis of his dialogues in the light of corresponding commentaries. This enables him to show the validity of Platonian (...) ideas for contemporary philosophical anthropology. According to the author this validity consists in the resolution of he question of human dignity, as well as in putting stress on the ethical dimension of politics and economy. (shrink)
