  3. Powers: A Study in Metaphysics.George Molnar - 2003 - New York: Oxford University Press. Edited by Stephen Mumford.
George Molnar came to see that the solution to a number of the problems of contemporary philosophy lay in the development of an alternative to Hume's metaphysics. This alternative would have real causal powers at its centre. Molnar set about developing a thorough account of powers that might persuade those who remained, perhaps unknowingly, in the grip of Humean assumptions. He succeeded in producing something both highly focused and at the same time wide-ranging. He showed both that the notion of (...)

Ethics vs. IT Ethics: Do Undergraduate Students Perceive a Difference?Kathleen K. Molnar, Marilyn G. Kletke & Jongsawas Chongwatpol - 2008 - Journal of Business Ethics 83 (4):657-671.
Do undergraduate students perceive that it is more acceptable to ‹cheat’ using information technology (IT) than it is to cheat without the use of IT? Do business discipline-related majors cheat more than non-business discipline-related majors? Do undergraduate students perceive it to be more acceptable for them personally to cheat than for others to cheat? Questionnaires were administered to undergraduate students at five geographical academic locations in the spring, 2006 and fall 2006 and spring, 2007. A total of 708 usable questionnaires (...)

Toward a Psychodynamic Understanding of Metaphor and Metonymy: Their Role in Awareness and Defense.Antal F. Borbely - 2004 - Metaphor and Symbol 19 (2):91-114.
Metaphor and metonymy, on the mental level temporally rather than syntactically or semantically defined, show a close association to healthy and neurotic defense, respectively. When the mind functions optimally, reverberating issues of past and present domains inform each other bidirectionally like source and target of a metaphor. Neurotic defense, metonymically conflating past and present, is mental access barring (negative metonymy). Metaphor and positive metonymy, fundamental to how the mind works, are autopoietic devices organizing creative change. Trauma (lost metaphoricity) results in (...)

    Avant-garde: Making war, revolutionary politics and art.Dragana Jeremic-Molnar & Aleksandar Molnar - 2008 - Filozofija I Društvo 19 (2):191-220.
Corporate social responsibility in France: A mix of national traditions and international influences.Ariane Berthoin Antal & André Sobczak - 2007 - Business and Society 46 (1):9-32.
This article explores the dynamics of the discourse and practice of corporate social responsibility (CSR) in France to illustrate the interplay between endogenous and exogenous factors in the development of CSR in a country. It shows how the cultural, socioeconomic, and legal traditions influence the way ideas are raised, the kinds of questions considered relevant, and the sorts of solutions conceived as desirable and possible. Furthermore, the article traces how expectations and practices evolve as a result of various social and (...)

discovering the Social Responsibility of Business in Germany.Ariane Berthoin Antal, Maria Oppen & André Sobczak - 2009 - Journal of Business Ethics 89 (S3):285-301.
The concept of corporate social responsibility is a relatively recent addition to the agenda in Germany, although the country has a long history of companies practicing social responsibilities. The expectations of society had remained stable for many years, encapsulated in laws, societal norms, and industrial relations agreements. But the past decade has seen significant changes in Germany, challenging established ways of treating the role of business in society. This contribution reviews and illustrates the development of diverse forms of social responsibility (...)

Grasping the Concept of an Object at a Glance: Category Information Accessed by Brief Dichoptic Presentation.Caitlyn Antal & Roberto G. de Almeida - 2024 - Cognitive Science 48 (10):e70002.
What type of conceptual information about an object do we get at a brief glance? In two experiments, we investigated the nature of conceptual tokening—the moment at which conceptual information about an object is accessed. Using a masked picture-word congruency task with dichoptic presentations at “brief” (50−60 ms) and “long” (190−200 ms) durations, participants judged the relation between a picture (e.g., a banana) and a word representing one of four property types about the object: superordinate (fruit), basic level (banana), a (...)

    Debate on sublime in the end of 18th century: Burke, Kant, Schiller.Dragana Jeremic-Molnar & Aleksandar Molnar - 2009 - Filozofija I Društvo 20 (1):143-158.

    The corticostriatal junction: A crucial region for forebrain development and evolution.Zoltán Molnár & Ann B. Butler - 2002 - Bioessays 24 (6):530-541.
Most parts of the brain are conserved across reptiles and birds (sauropsids) and mammals. Two major qualitative differences occur in the upper part, or pallium, of the telencephalon, the most rostral part of the brain. Mammals have a six‐layered neocortex and also exhibit a different morphological organization in the lateral half, or sector, of their pallium than do sauropsids. These differences of lateral pallial construction may derive from small but crucial differences in migration patterns of neuronal precursors generated at or (...)

    The Structure of Human Wakefulness.E. F. Molnar - 1950 - Review of Metaphysics 3 (4):453 - 469.
I leave it open whether the teleological, cosmological and ontological arguments can be held together by simply stating that the common experience of our daily waking from sleep is direct evidence of God's actuality. St. Paul's vision that in God "we live and move and have our being" seems to support directly the practical value of efforts towards a restatement of the traditional arguments. It may be also of significant value for our educational systems, to give a positive content to (...)

  38. Ultrafilter Extensions of Bounded Graphs are Elementary.Zalán Molnár - forthcoming - Studia Logica:1-23.
The main motivation of this paper is the study of first-order model theoretic properties of structures having their roots in modal logic. We will focus on the connections between ultrafilter extensions and ultrapowers. We show that certain structures (called bounded graphs) are elementary substructures of their ultrafilter extensions, moreover their modal logics coincide.

The English collection is published in 2001, while the French edition came out later in 2003 titled Chaque fois unique, la fin du monde.

    Low-dimensional versus high-dimensional chaos in brain function – is it an and/or issue?Márk Molnár - 2001 - Behavioral and Brain Sciences 24 (5):823-824.
We discuss whether low-dimensional chaos and even nonlinear processes can be traced in the electrical activity of the brain. Experimental data show that the dimensional complexity of the EEG decreases during event-related potentials associated with cognitive effort. This probably represents increased nonlinear cooperation between different neural systems during sensory information processing.

In this article the authors are reconstructing the dichotomies which the young Theodor Adorno was trying to detect in the music of the bourgeois epoch and personify in two antipodes - Franz Schubert and Ludwig van Beethoven. Although already a devotee of Arnold Sch?nberg and the 20th century music avantgardism, Adorno was, in his works prior to his exile from Germany, intensively dealing with Schubert and his opposition towards Beethoven. While Beethoven was a bold and progressive revolutionary, fascinated by the?practical (...)
