    Anchoring Utterances.Herbert H. Clark - 2021 - Topics in Cognitive Science 13 (2):329-350.
Clark highlights a neglected issue in research on language use: the process by which speakers and addressees anchor utterances with respect to individual entities in their common ground. In his review, he identifies the challenges linked to investigations of anchoring, but also displays the pitfalls of evading it.

    The axiomatization of physical theories.Herbert A. Simon - 1970 - Philosophy of Science 37 (1):16-26.
The task of axiomatizing physical theories has attracted, in recent years, some interest among both empirical scientists and logicians. However, the axiomatizations produced by either one of these two groups seldom appear satisfactory to the members of the other. It is the purpose of this paper to develop an approach that will satisfy the criteria of both, hence permit us to construct axiomatizations that will meet simultaneously the standards and needs of logicians and of empirical scientists.

Chuang Tzu.Herbert A. Giles - 1926 - London,: Routledge. Edited by Herbert Allen Giles.
First published in 1889. This re-issues the second, revised edition of 1926. Chuang Tzu was to Lao Tzu, the author of Tao Tê Ching, as Hui-neng, the sixth Patriarch of Zen Buddhism, was to Bodhidharma, and in some respects St.Paul to Jesus; he expanded the original teaching into a system and was thus the founder of Tao-ism. Whereas Lao Tzu was a contemporary of Confucius in the sixth century B.C, Chuang Tzu lived over two hundred years later. He was one (...)

Rejoinder to Vere Chappell and Roderick Chisholm.Herbert Spiegelberg - 1965 - The Monist 49 (1):38-43.
Two years ago, in the course of a very generous, but refreshingly critical review of my historical introduction to phenomenology, Professor Chappell expressed the opinion that the difference between phenomenological and analytical philosophizing was perhaps less than I realized. At that time my first response was that this opinion should be put to a test by having both approaches tackle the same topic independently and then comparing not only the results but the actual procedures. I am grateful to our present (...)

    The Analytic Polynomial-Time Hierarchy.Herbert Baier & Klaus W. Wagner - 1998 - Mathematical Logic Quarterly 44 (4):529-544.
Motivated by results on interactive proof systems we investigate an ∃-∀hierarchy over P using word quantifiers as well as two types of set quantifiers. This hierarchy, which extends the polynomial-time hierarchy, is called the analytic polynomial-time hierarchy. It is shown that every class of this hierarchy coincides with one of the following Classes: ∑math image, Πmath image , PSPACE, ∑math image or Πmath image . This improves previous results by Orponen [6] and allows interesting comparisons with the above mentioned results (...)

    Editorial Preface.Herbert Hrachovec - 1997 - The Monist 80 (3):341-347.
Electronic mail and information exchange on the World Wide Web have in recent years developed into indispensible features of scholarly activity. The speed and convenience of computer-mediated communication across the planet are rapidly changing the established patterns of academic transactions. While thousands of philosophers have begun to take advantage of e-mail, web-servers or digital text repositories, systematic exploration of the newly available technology has been lagging behind. There is, it has to be admitted, a colourful offspring of postmodern writing celebrating (...)

It is the realm of the "person" within which, although the tragic conflict is not resolved, there arises the free self from whose non-dual perspective the unity and eternity of life are seen. Within this realm the individual gains an illumination the result of which is "amor fad," his free (...)
