    In the concluding chapter of The Methods of Ethics, Henry Sidgwick proposes a religious solution to a “fundamental contradiction” of practical reason. In this paper, I raise an objection to Sidgwick’s religious solution to his assumed dualism of practical reason. Then I describe ways of amending his solution in order to avoid the objection.
