    Voice in the agentic assemblage.Lisa A. Mazzei & Alecia Y. Jackson - 2017 - Educational Philosophy and Theory 49 (11):1090-1098.
In this article, we explore how a posthumanist stance has enabled us to work a different consideration of the way in which voice is constituted and constituting in educational inquiry; that is, we position voice in a posthuman ontology that is understood as attributable to a complex network of human and nonhuman agents that exceed the traditional understanding of an individual. Drawing on the work of Deleuze and Guattari, Barad, and Bennett, we present a research artifact that illustrates how this (...)

Confronting Ideals of Proof with the Ways of Proving of the Research Mathematician.Norma B. Goethe & Michèle Friend - 2010 - Studia Logica 96 (2):273-288.
In this paper, we discuss the prevailing view amongst philosophers and many mathematicians concerning mathematical proof. Following Cellucci, we call the prevailing view the “axiomatic conception” of proof. The conception includes the ideas that: a proof is finite, it proceeds from axioms and it is the final word on the matter of the conclusion. This received view can be traced back to Frege, Hilbert and Gentzen, amongst others, and is prevalent in both mathematical text books and logic text books.

Making Digital Territory: Cybersecurity, Techno-nationalism, and the Moral Boundaries of the State.Norma Möllers - 2021 - Science, Technology, and Human Values 46 (1):112-138.
Drawing on an analysis of German national cybersecurity policy, this paper argues that cybersecurity has become a key site in which states mobilize science and technology to produce state power. Contributing to science and technology studies work on technoscience and statecraft, I develop the concepts of “territorialization projects” and “digital territory” to capture how the production of state power in the digital age increasingly relies on technoscientific expertise about information infrastructure, shifting tasks of government into the domain of computer scientists (...)

Clinical Implications of a Phenomenological Study: Being Regarded as a Threat while Attempting to Do One’s Best.Norma Cole - 2016 - Indo-Pacific Journal of Phenomenology 16 (sup1):1-14.
Cultural messages promote putting forward one’s best effort, and yet any level of success, or the effort itself, can lead to being regarded as a threat. People forming everyday social comparisons may feel threatened by those attempting to do their best, and may react to neutralize the perceived threat. The urge to undermine someone regarded as a threat can result in direct reprisal, social strain, or other repercussions that can range from unpleasantness to life-changing trauma. Given the potential for negative (...)

    Minor pedagogy: Education as continuous variation.Laura E. Smithers & Lisa A. Mazzei - 2024 - Educational Philosophy and Theory 56 (10):978-987.
In this paper, the authors consider the intersections of philosophy and education. Extending the concept of a minor pedagogy first presented by Mazzei and Smithers (Citation2020), the authors reorient thinking toward more equitable and just pedagogy as a cultivation of difference. This paper has three major sections. In the first two, the authors review Deleuze and Guattari’s (Citation1986, Citation1987) concept of the minor, and then connect this to the concept of a minor pedagogy. The final section explores the work (...)

Employee Anonymous Online Dissent: Dynamics and Ethical Challenges for Employees, Targeted Organisations, Online Outlets, and Audiences.Silvia Ravazzani & Alessandra Mazzei - 2018 - Business Ethics Quarterly 28 (2):175-201.
ABSTRACT:This article aims to enhance understanding of employee anonymous online dissent (EAOD), a controversial phenomenon in contemporary digital environments. We conceptualise and scrutinise EAOD as a communicative and interactional process among four key actors: dissenting employees, online outlet administrators, audiences, and targeted organisations. This multi-actor, dialectical process encompasses actor-related tensions that may generate unethical consequences if single voices are not brought out and confronted. Appropriating a Habermasian ethical and discursive lens, we examine and disentangle three particular challenges emerging from the (...)

Revolutionary popular feminism in nicaragua:: Articulating class, gender, and national sovereignty.Norma Stoltz Chinchilla - 1990 - Gender and Society 4 (3):370-397.
On March 8, 1987, the Sandinista Liberation Front published its statement on the relation of women's struggles to the Nicaraguan revolution. The author argues that this official statement is consistent with the views of modern feminists on some key points relating to the need to eliminate women's double day, promote women's self-organization, and wage an ideological struggle against sexism if women's subordination is to be eliminated. The author believes that the Sandinista Front's emphasis on ideological struggle and political organization represents (...)

Marxism, feminism, and the struggle for democracy in latin America.Norma Stoltz Chinchilla - 1991 - Gender and Society 5 (3):291-310.
While discussions of dissolving the hyphen between Marxism and feminism were put on the back burner in the United States and England in the 1980s, the author argues that changes in Latin America during the same decade favor a possible convergence of contemporary Marxist and feminist theory and practice. These conditions include the emergence of a second-wave feminist movement in many Latin America countries, the central role of women in contemporary social movements, and an internal critique within Latin American Marxism.
