Individual Spirituality at Work and Its Relationship with Job Satisfaction, Propensity to Leave and Job Commitment.Vaibhav Chawla & Sridhar Guda - 2010 - Journal of Human Values 16 (2):157-167.
Spirituality is a hot topic of research in recent times in management arena. Though the organizational researchers have intensely started exploring this area, the studies related to selling organizations are few, and fewer are the studies related to selling organizations with individual (sales professional) as the unit of theory. The present study explores the relationship between ‘individual spirituality at work’ and sales professionals’ ‘job satisfaction’, ‘propensity to leave’ and ‘job commitment’. This work focuses on sales professionals across various industries. A (...)

    Workplace Spirituality as a Precursor to Relationship-Oriented Selling Characteristics.Vaibhav Chawla & Sridhar Guda - 2013 - Journal of Business Ethics 115 (1):63-73.
Very few studies have looked upon the construct of workplace spirituality in sales organization context. This paper integrates workplace spirituality with sales literature. The paper points out that self-interest transcendence is a common aspect in the workplace spirituality concept which emerged a decade ago and in most of the relationship-oriented selling characteristics—customer orientation, adaptability, service orientation, and ethical selling behavior. Based on the common aspect of self-interest transcendence, we propose that workplace spirituality could be a causal precursor to relationship-oriented selling (...)

Gandhigiri in cyberspace: a novel approach to information ethics.Vaibhav Garg & L. Jean Camp - 2012 - Acm Sigcas Computers and Society 42 (1):9-20.
The interpretation of the terms 'information' and 'ethics' is often culturally situated. A common understanding is contingent to facilitating dialogue concerning the novel ethical issues we face during computer-mediated interactions. Developing a nuanced understanding of information ethics is critical at a point when the number of information and communication technology -enabled interactions may soon exceed traditional human interactions. Utilitarianism and deontology, the two major schools of ethics are based in a western perspective. We contribute to the existing discourse on information (...)

Background: Genetics research is controversial in Native American communities, and the disposition and ownership of biological specimens are central issues. Within Native communities, there is considerable variety in tribal members’ views. This article reports the results from an ethnographic study conducted with a Native American community in the southwestern United States. The purpose of this study was to examine the relationship (past and present) between the tribe and biomedical/genetics research. Methods: Qualitative interviews were conducted with 53 members of a Native (...)

    A Coordinated Research Agenda for Nature-Based Learning.Cathy Jordan & Louise Chawla - 2019 - Frontiers in Psychology 10.
Evidence is mounting that nature-based learning (NBL) enhances children’s educational and developmental outcomes, making this an opportune time to identify promising questions to carry research and practice in this field forward. We present the outcomes of a process to set a research agenda for NBL, undertaken by the Science of Nature-Based Learning Collaborative Research Network, with funding from the National Science Foundation. A literature review and several approaches to gathering input from researchers, practitioners and funders resulted in recommendations for research (...)

  17. Exploring the Semiosic Tensions Between Autobiography, Biography, Ethnography, and Autoethnography.Myrdene Anderson & Devika Chawla - 2007 - Semiotics:1-9.
The Saami assert that "to move on is better than to stay put" (jot'tit lea buorit go orrot). The senior (in more ways than one) author, Myrdene Anderson, found as a Saami ethnographer that her life history resonated well with this Saami philosophy. In addition, Anderson had adopted from her own heritage the adage that "one can't hit a moving target". The Saami would also be comfortable with that formula. Together, one might minimally collapse and paraphrase both adages as: "a (...)

Notational usage modulates attention networks in binumerates.Atesh Koul, Vaibhav Tyagi & Nandini C. Singh - 2014 - Frontiers in Human Neuroscience 8:77089.
Multicultural environments require learning multiple number notations wherein some are encountered more frequently than others. This leads to differences in exposure and consequently differences in usage between notations. We find that differential notational usage imposes a significant neurocognitive load on number processing. Despite simultaneous acquisition, forty-two adult binumerate populations, familiar with two positional writing systems namely Hindu Nagari digits and Hindu Arabic digits, reported significantly lower preference and usage for Nagari as compared to Arabic. Twenty-four participants showed significantly increased reaction (...)

If You Can’t Join ‘Em, Report ‘Em: A Model of Ostracism and Whistleblowing in Teams.Trevor M. Spoelma, Nitya Chawla & Aleksander P. J. Ellis - 2020 - Journal of Business Ethics 173 (2):345-363.
Unethical behavior coordinated and concealed by teams continues to represent a troubling and all-too-frequent occurrence in organizations. Unfortunately, those who are most knowledgeable about this behavior and thereby best suited to report it to authorities—the complicit members themselves—are susceptible to unique pressures that often discourage them from blowing the whistle. Team members rely on their teammates for relational and other beneficial resources, making it more difficult to potentially break those ties by snitching. However, we argue that the pressure to stay (...)

Study on Assessing the Evolution of Nutritional Choices through Social Media Influence.Dr Charu Wadhwa, Hemal Thakker, Vaibhav Kaushik, Honganur Raju Manjunath, Shobhit Goyal, Axita Thakkar & Madhur Grover - forthcoming - Evolutionary Studies in Imaginative Culture:860-869.
Social media-related nutritional decisions influencers and commercial postings on social media have a significant impact on people's eating habits, purchasing decisions, and decisions about food in general. It also shapes people's dietary practices and overall nutrition. Investigating dietary habits through social media can be disadvantageous to the potential for biased or inaccurate information, as sensational content can lead to unreliable nutritional advice. The 160 participants' nutritional choices using social media influence data are collected, and random questionnaires are collected. There are (...)

Social Facilitation in Fear Appeals Creates Positive Affect but Inhibits Healthy Eating Intentions.Rachel L. Bailey, Tianjiao Grace Wang, Jiawei Liu, Russell B. Clayton, Kyeongwon Kwon, Vaibhav Diwanji & Farzaneh Karimkhanashtiyani - 2022 - Frontiers in Psychology 13.
The social facilitation of eating plays a significant role in influencing individuals’ eating decisions. However, how social eating cues are processed in health promotion messages is unclear. This study examined individuals’ food craving in response to social cues in images and emotional experiences, perceived threat, perceived efficacy, behavioral intentions, and motivational coactivation elicited by social eating cues in obesity prevention fear appeals. Results suggested that the presence of a group of people eating in an image facilitated food craving for the (...)

(Not So) Dangerous Liaisons: A Framework for Evaluating Collaborative Research Projects.Pinar Oztop, Frank Loesche, Diego S. Maranan, Kathryn B. Francis, Vaibhav Tyagi & Ilaria Torre - 2017 - Avant: Trends in Interdisciplinary Studies 8 (T):167-179.
With advances in research environments and the accompanying increase in the complexity of research projects, the range of skills required to carry out research calls for an increase in interdisciplinary and collaborative work. CogNovo, a doctoral training program for 25 PhD students, provided a unique opportunity to observe and analyze collaborative processes. We propose a process-oriented framework for understanding research collaborations along two dimensions: interpersonal and project-related. To illustrate the utility of this process-oriented framework, we apply the framework matrix to (...)
