    Postmodernism—a cross-cultural perspective.P. J. Hiett - 1995 - Asian Philosophy 5 (2):197 – 208.
Abstract In this paper, I attempt to throw light on the phenomenon of postmodernism by comparing it with the understanding of other cultures such as the Indian and Chinese. One can say that postmodernism, like, say Mahayana Buddhism, Taoism and Advaita Vedanta recognise the impossibility of finding an absolute in the world. However, unlike the latter three, rather than moving on beyond finite things, postmodernism seems content to simply sit and play around with the non?absolutes that it has found (even (...)

    The sound of the life-world.P. Kerszberg - 1999 - Continental Philosophy Review 32 (2):169-194.
Husserl's investigations of internal time-consciousness take sound as the primary temporal object. However, in these investigations, the structure of the flux of temporal subjectivity is established to the detriment of the rich tonal content of sound. Just as Husserl has enlarged the significance of the spatial object of mathematical physics to include the historically-sedimented layers of its appearance, so the temporal object will receive additional intelligibility if the rich texture of musical sound is taken into consideration. Particularly useful for this (...)

    A set mapping with no infinite free subsets.P. Komjáth - 1991 - Journal of Symbolic Logic 56 (4):1400 - 1402.
    It is consistent that there exists a set mapping $F: \lbrack\omega_2\rbrack^2 \rightarrow \lbrack\omega_2\rbrack^{<\omega}$ such that $F(\alpha, \beta) \subseteq \alpha$ for $\alpha < \beta < \omega_2$ and there is no infinite free subset for F. This solves a problem of A. Hajnal and A. Mate.

The Future of Man: The BBC Reith Lectures 1959.P. B. Medawar - 1959 - Routledge.
Originally published in 1960, The Future of Man is a chronicle of Professor Medwar's Reith lectures of 1959. The book outlines his predictions about the future estate of man, with the 'process of foretelling, rather than with what is actually foretold'. He asks, can we predict the future size of populations? What is the evidence and theoretical background for the belief that human intelligence is declining? Could human beings become uniformly excellent or is inborn diversity and inequality a necessary part (...)

    The Hope of Progress.P. B. Medawar - 1972 - Routledge.
First published in 1972, The Hope of Progress presents collection of essays and lectures dealing with the history of scientific ideas and the impact of science on society. The principle piece in this volume is the author's 1969 presidential address to the British Association 'On The Effecting of All Things Possible', an argument for believing in the ability of science to solve the problems it has itself created, and which too many of us believe insoluble. It contains author's Romanes Lecture (...)

    A Note on Laurentianus XXXII. 2.P. G. Mason - 1954 - Classical Quarterly 4 (1-2):56-.
The following note is based upon a re-examination of the binding, the quire signatures, and the enumeration of the plays of Euripides in L first made at Florence in 1948 and checked in 1952. Its purpose is to suggest that conjectures are still current about L and the exemplar from which it was copied, which cannot be regarded as sufficiently supported by good evidence to justify their retention; and to attempt some further clarification of L's relationship with the MS. Palatinus (...)

Judicial liberalism and capitalism: Justice field reconsidered: Michael P. Zuckert.Michael P. Zuckert - 2011 - Social Philosophy and Policy 28 (2):102-134.
Justice Stephen J. Field was the champion of a form of liberalism often said to be especially friendly to capitalism, the approach to the Constitution traditionally identified with “Lochnerism,” i.e., a laissez-faire oriented judicial activism. More recently a form of judicial revisionism has arisen, challenging the accepted descriptions of “Lochnerism” and of Field's jurisprudence. This article is an attempt to extend the revisionist approach by arriving at a more satisfactory understanding of the grounding of Field's jurisprudence in the natural rights (...)

It would be difficult to name a more interesting scientific problem than that of knowledge of the brain, its overall mechanisms and its molecular nature. Rational management of the brain in the future and utilization of the principles of its functioning to construct various mechanisms to undergird present-day technological progress should follow as direct consequences of development of that sphere of knowledge.
