Las universidades tienen la tarea de formar profesionales de la docencia adecuadamente capacitados en el campo científico, humanístico y tecnológico, con principios morales y valores de alto nivel humano, por el hecho de tener la responsabilidad de contribuir al mejoramiento de la manera de ser y de estar en el mundo de las generaciones actuales y futuras a través de las acciones educativas. Para ello, los planes y programas de formación docente que poseen las universidades deben prever competencias que le (...) permitan al educador reflexionar en su acción y sobre su acción profesional, y que de esa manera el trabajo pedagógico siempre sea intencionado. Esta investigación está orientada hacia la formulación de herramientas de naturaleza teórico – prácticas para la formación de docentes reflexivos, cuya operacionalización en la práctica constituyen aportes para la formación de educadores que estén preparados para planificar, ejecutar y evaluar acciones pedagógicas desde una reflexión permanente en la práctica y sobre la práctica profesional. Among the graphic peculiarities that the manuscript T 235 presents, the famous Alcoran in letter of the Christians kept in the Library of Castilla-La Mancha, it is noticeable the use of the abbreviation al̶h. to translate the term Allāh. Examined the different techniques used to that end in other manuscripts in Latin characters coming from the different Hispanic Islamic communities between the 16th and 17th centuries, ranging from non-translation to the equivalent coined and through the loan with different transcripts, we (...) propose an interpretation of the aforementioned abbreviation in terms of intersemiotic translation, i.e. as a reduction to a simple visual form that aims to keep in the Spanish version the fiction of retaining the term Allāh in its original form in Arabic spelling by means of Latin characters. En este artículo nos proponemos abordar la trayectoria del PRT-ERP en el frigorífico Swift de Rosario, en el periodo transcurrido entre 1965 y 1976. Analizaremos las diferentes estrategias que la organización se fue dando a lo largo del tiempo para poder acercarse a la clase trabajadora de ese establecimiento y convertirse en una referencia político-sindical. The development of philosophical ideas throughout history has sometimes been assisted by the use of handcrafted instruments. Some paradigmatic cases, such as the invention of the telescope or the microscope, show that many philosophical approaches have been the result of the intervention of such instruments. The aim of this article is to show the determining role that stringed musical instruments with frets had in the crisis and generation of philosophical paradigms. In fact, just as the observations of the moon with (...) the telescope broke more than a thousand years of Aristotelian hegemony, the fretted string instruments, predecessors of the guitar, played a central role in the collapse of one of the most influential approaches in the history of Philosophy: Pythagorism. We focus on the fundamental hallmarks of Pythagorism and on how, during the 16th century and from the fretted string instruments, the mathematical-musical notion of equal temperament emerged, which from the middle of the 19th century will be established as the prevailing philosophical-musical paradigm of the West. Although the chinampa agriculture in Mexico City is considered an historical sustainable farming system,there have been few studies on its current status. This paper assesses the relationship between agroecological factors and socioeconomic strategies by analyzing urban forces, regional employment, and environmental concerns. Despite ecological deterioration caused by the urban expansion of Mexico City, the economic viability of this agricultural system is still based on the efficient use of farming technologies and resources management strategies that tend to maintain levels of productivity (...) in horticulture and floriculture. The chinampa agriculture generates high income and employment for families and other local residents. This agroecosystem depends on the relationship between the economic priorities and agricultural criteria of farmers. We suggest that urban development, economic growth, and resource management in the chinampa region of Mexico City coincide with ecosystem processes, biological human needs, agronomic productivity, economic viability, and sociocultural values. By evaluating these factors, we provide some useful insights on the importance of this traditional agriculture within a sustainable development context. (shrink)

RESUMEN Introducción: Son escasos los servicios en salud mental dentro del contexto escolar que permitan una integración intersectorial para superar la brecha de falta de asistencia en salud mental en la población infanto - juvenil, aun cuando, es en la escuela donde se detectan mayoritariamente los problemas de salud mental. Objetivo: Comentar el uso de servicios de salud mental en el ambiente escolar en relación con los trastornos mentales y trastornos subumbrales. Método: El presente resultado se obtiene a partir del (...) “Estudio de Prevalencia Comunitaria de Trastornos Psiquiátricos y Utilización de Servicios de la Población Infanto-Juvenil Chilena”. La muestra estuvo representada por sujetos entre 4 y 18 años. La información sobre el uso de servicio de salud mental se recogió con una versión modificada de la Escala Service Assesment for Children and Adolescent. Se realizó un modelo de regresión logística para analizar cinco áreas del uso de servicios en el ambiente escolar, las cuales se correlacionaron con diagnósticos de trastorno mentales y trastorno subumbral de ansiedad, disruptivo y depresión en el último año. Resultados: Las escuelas se enfrentan a grandes desafíos sobre cómo proporcionar apoyo efectivo de salud mental para los estudiantes, que presentan algún tipo de trastorno mental o trastorno subumbral. Discussión: Las instituciones educativas requieren ser visualizadas como una entidad que podría satisfacer las necesidades que se advierten de manera urgente en atención, prevención y promoción de problemas mentales en la población infanto- juvenil, si se vinculan de forma más directa con los servicios de salud mental. ABSTRACT Introduction: Mental health services are scarce within the school context that allow intersectoral integration to overcome the gap in mental health care in the child and adolescent population, being the school where mental health problems are mostly detected. Objective: to know the use of mental health services in the school environment in relation to mental disorders and subthreshold disorders. Method: The present secondary study is carried out from the "Study of Community Prevalence of Psychiatric Disorders and Utilization of Services of the Chilean Child-Youth Population". The sample was represented by subjects between 4 and 18 years old. Information on the use of mental health service was collected with a modified version of the Service Assessment Scale for Children and Adolescents. A logistic regression model was performed to analyze five areas of the use of services in the school environment, which were correlated with diagnoses of mental disorders and subthreshold anxiety, disruptive and depression disorder in the last year. Results: Schools face great challenges on how to provide effective mental health support for students, who present some type of mental disorder or subthreshold disorder. Discusion: Educational institutions need to be visualized as an entity that could meet the needs that are urgently noticed in attention, prevention and promotion of mental problems in the child and adolescent population, if it is linked more directly with health services. The notion that patients’ medical decision-making capacity depends on risk considerations has some acceptance in the bioethical literature. However, it arouses some criticism since it seems to give rise to paternalistic attitudes. In addition, the idea of capacity assessment as a collaborative space in which aid is given to the patient is emphasized so that they can decide about their life. It does not seem ethically acceptable to pose the evaluation as a simple observer report. Capacity assessment can sometimes be (...) impossible or inconsequential. In short, capacity assessment is a procedure that, used wisely, can allow the patient to take charge of their life. Misused, it can be the gateway to unjustified paternalistic actions. (shrink)

BackgroundThe Patient Health Questionnaire-9 is the most well-known self-report measure to screen for depressive symptomatology, although discerning which is the factor structure that represents the best fit remains a challenge.ObjectiveThe aim of this study was to analyze the psychometric properties and factorial structure of the Spanish version of the PHQ-9 in a large sample of Ecuadorian college students.MethodsA total of 5,394 students from three Ecuadorian universities were surveyed using a computerized questionnaire within a 4-week assessment period. The PHQ-9 was tested (...) for factorial structure, reliability, and correlations with other mental health-related measures.ResultsThe hierarchical model that included a general factor and three nested factors had a better fit, and such a hierarchical structure remained invariant across sex and age. Total omega value was 0.90 for the total scale and hierarchical omega values were 0.68 for the general factor, as well as 0.34, 0.38, and 0.44 for the respective nested factors. Moreover, PHQ-9 scores were significantly higher among women, although effect sizes of comparison of those sex differences were very small. Finally, the PHQ-9 scores correlated with multiple mental health indicators.DiscussionThe Spanish version of the PHQ-9 showed good psychometric properties among Ecuadorian college students. The hierarchical structure showed the best fit for the data, including not only a dominant general factor, but also the somatic, cognitive/affective and concentration/motor subcomponents. In conclusion, the PHQ-9 tool seems to represent an easy-to-implement screening questionnaire to design preventive programs for those Ecuadorian college students at risk of developing depressive disorders. 8 March, now known as International Women’s Day, is a day for feminist claims where demonstrations are organized in over 150 countries, with the participation of millions of women all around the world. These demonstrations can be viewed as collective rituals and thus focus attention on the processes that facilitate different psychosocial effects. This work aims to explore the mechanisms involved in participation in the demonstrations of 8 March 2020, collective and ritualized feminist actions, and their correlates associated with personal (...) well-being and collective well-being, collective efficacy and collective growth, and behavioral intention to support the fight for women’s rights. To this end, a cross-cultural study was conducted with the participation of 2,854 people from countries in Latin America and Europe, with a retrospective correlational cross-sectional design and a convenience sample. Participants were divided between demonstration participants and non-demonstrators or followers who monitored participants through the media and social networks. Compared with non-demonstrators and with males, female and non-binary gender respondents had greater scores in mechanisms and criterion variables. Further random-effects model meta-analyses revealed that the perceived emotional synchrony was consistently associated with more proximal mechanisms, as well as with criterion variables. Finally, sequential moderation analyses showed that proposed mechanisms successfully mediated the effects of participation on every criterion variable. These results indicate that participation in 8M marches and demonstrations can be analyzed through the literature on collective rituals. As such, collective participation implies positive outcomes both individually and collectively, which are further reinforced through key psychological mechanisms, in line with a Durkheimian approach to collective rituals. Unfounded—conspiracy and health—beliefs about COVID-19 have accompanied the pandemic worldwide. Here, we examined cross-nationally the structure and correlates of these beliefs with an 8-item scale, using a multigroup confirmatory factor analysis. We obtained a two-factor model of unfounded (conspiracy and health) beliefs with good internal structure (average CFI = 0.98, RMSEA = 0.05, SRMR = 0.04), but a high correlation between the two factors (average latent factor correlation = 0.57). This model was replicable across 50 countries (total N = 13,579), (...) as evidenced by metric invariance between countries (CFI = 0.96, RMSEA = 0.06, SRMS = 0.07) as well as scalar invariance across genders (CFI = 0.98, RMSEA = 0.04, SRMS = 0.03) and educational levels (CFI = 0.98, RMSEA = 0.04, SRMS = 0.03). Also, lower levels of education, more fear of COVID-19, and more cynicism were weakly associated with stronger conspiracy and health beliefs. The study contributes to knowledge about the structure of unfounded beliefs, and reveals the potential relevance of affective (i.e., fear of COVID-19) and cognitive (i.e., cynicism) factors along with demographics, in endorsing such beliefs. In summary, we obtained cross-cultural evidence for the distinctiveness of unfounded conspiracy and health beliefs about COVID-19 in terms of their structure and correlates. (shrink)

Resumen: Este artículo reflexiona acerca de la producción artística y literaria chilena que surge en la década del 70, en la que se estrecha la relación entre fotografía y literatura, colaboración que se incrementa a mediados de los 80. Las imágenes fotográficas son trasladadas al campo artístico por medio de operaciones intermediales que plagan de nuevos significados la escena artístico-literaria nacional. Estas convergen como señales disruptivas en la construcción de un texto híbrido, que al mismo tiempo enriquecen los cruces palimpsésticos (...) y mutables entre la fotografía y la literatura chilena. Con el recurso de las imágenes fotográficas, en textos como De la tierra sin fuegos de Juan Pablo Riveros, se reconstruyen escenarios donde algunas problemáticas histórico-sociales son discutidas y confrontadas, como sucede con el genocidio indígena de la Patagonia austral y con la dictadura militar chilena.: This article reflects on the Chilean literary and artistic production that begins around the 70’s, where the relationship between photography and literature was strengthened; this relationship increased by mid-80. Photographic images are transferred to the artistic field through intermedial operations that plague the national literary scene with new artistic meanings. These disruptive signals converge in the construction of a hybrid text, and at the same time, enrich palimpsestic and mutable crosses between photography and literature. With the use of photographic images, texts such as De la tierra sin fuegos by Juan Pablo Riveros reconstruct scenarios where certain historical and social issues are discussed and confronted, such as the indigenous genocide of Southern Patagonia and the Chilean military dictatorship. El problema de investigación es que la metafísica de la praxis humana se confunde con la metafísica de la acción humana, pero la primera tiene rasgos específicos y la segunda es general. Ambas metafísicas no están separadas, una forma parte de la otra. El objetivo del artículo, por tanto, es determinar las particularidades de la metafísica de la praxis humana a partir del sujeto de la praxis que delinea Hinkelammert. El método empleado consta de tres partes. Primera; identificación de los (...) sujetos que se forman en el trayecto que siguen los seres humanos para mantener su vida en la sociedad. El sujeto natural, vivo, cognoscente, trascendental, necesitado, con necesidades concretas y social emprende procesos como sujeto actuante, creador de leyes, productor, práctico y de la praxis. Segunda; descripción de las imaginaciones o ilusiones al activar su lado trascendental en cada una de estas fases. Hace una trascendencia general y varias parciales. Hinkelammert afirma que la trascendencia general —en tanto imaginación— corresponde al Reino Mesiánico de Pablo de Tarso: una Tierra con igualdad humana absoluta, sin muerte y sin leyes. Tercera; definición de las características del sujeto de la praxis. Los resultados indican que este sujeto se desenvuelve —en los procesos de su vida— con factibilidad trascendental. La factibilidad está sustentada en imaginaciones. El sujeto de la acción no necesariamente proyecta imaginaciones. La metafísica de la praxis humana tiene sus bases, en consecuencia, en la factibilidad trascendental. La metafísica de la acción humana puede contener ilusiones que anulen dicha factibilidad. La construcción de las sociedades mejor posible, en conclusión, requiere de la factibilidad trascendental. (shrink)

El presente trabajo pretende abordar en profundidad algunos de los aspectos esenciales en el origen de las posturas ecofascistas actuales. Entendidas como aquellas que pretenden preservar los recursos naturales para una minoría privilegiada por medio de la exclusión de las grandes mayorías populares, las ideas ecofascistas están experimentando un momento de fuerte auge en una coyuntura de crisis ecosocial que se desarrolla, además, en el contexto de una importante crisis civilizatoria. Entendemos que los orígenes de esas crisis se hallan precisamente (...) vinculados a una cosmovisión que alienta unos determinados imaginarios colectivos ante las mismas y que, a la postre, alimenta esas posturas ecofascistas. Dicha cosmovisión parte, dentro del paradigma moderno occidental, de la idea de un ser humano ilimitado, lo que conlleva inevitablemente una configuración cultural y práctica de carácter eco-colonial negadora de otros pueblos, que son de este modo subalternizados. Sostenemos que la tentación de superar la crisis socioambiental mediante soluciones tecnooptimistas no hará más que profundizar en este modelo. No sólo eso. Las tecnocracias entrañan una amenaza potencial para la democracia, en cuanto pueden ser cauce para la normalización de autoritarismos propios de los proyectos ecofascistas. (shrink)

El ciclo político regional de los últimos años ha reabierto una serie de discusiones que parecían desterradas del campo político e intelectual. Recientemente, frente a la crisis de varias de las experiencias políticas de la región, distintos autores han intentado hacer un balance de este ciclo a partir de una comparación con los populismos clásicos latinoamericanos. Recurriendo a categorías de origen gramsciano, principalmente el modelo de la llamada revolución pasiva, estos análisis ven en la intervención populista una clausura desde arriba (...) de las dinámicas sociales que habrían animado el inicio de estos procesos. Retomando algunos antecedentes de este debate en las ciencias sociales argentinas, este trabajo intenta problematizar la visión de los populismos latinoamericanos —tanto clásicos como actuales— que subyace en dichas miradas y, en ese sentido, propone una relectura de los orígenes del peronismo en relación a estas categorías. Este estudio pretende demostrar el origen metodológico común del concepto de soberanía popular de Rousseau y Carl Schmitt, entendido como aquella autoridad política cuya legitimidad descansa en un principio democrático verdaderamente sustantivo. En primer lugar, se intentará probar cómo ambas obras serían la expresión de una común reacción al formalismo de una dogmática liberal que identifica metodológicamente la legalidad formal con la legitimidad política. Así, Rousseau critica un enunciado de la ley natural procedente de Locke que legitima la desigualdad social (...) y política y justifica el gobierno burgués de los propietarios y Schmitt cuestiona un positivismo jurídico cuyo normativismo habría ocultado el auténtico valor sociológico del poder y la soberanía. En segundo lugar, una vez avanzada una crítica de las representaciones políticas que niegan el carácter sustantivo del pueblo soberano, se estudia el modo en que ambos formulan una propuesta metodológica alternativa. Aquí se prestará especial atención al modo en que la elaboración schmittiana incorpora, en un contexto de crisis de las formas liberales, una reelaboración de la crítica de Rousseau. (shrink)

Este artículo se propone evaluar las lecturas que afirman que la perspectiva decolonial, en su crítica a la modernidad y al eurocentrismo, pretende aferrarse a un particularismo propio de la diferencia cultural latinoamericana con el fin de recuperar los lazos comunitarios previos a la conquista, donde se encontrarían las claves de la liberación presente. Bajo esta perspectiva la teoría decolonial rechaza toda política institucional y aspira a afianzar comunidades oprimidas que se articulan en función de ejes de opresión como la (...) raza, la cultura, el género o la clase, abandonando así toda pretensión de universalidad por considerarla el rasgo fundamental de la modernidad europea y de la dominación colonial. De aquí dichas perspectivas concluyen que el pensamiento decolonial es incompatible con las luchas populares realizadas en clave universal y republicana. Frente a estas posiciones se buscará trazar los lineamientos de una política decolonial intercultural en clave analéctica y transmoderna que superen la falsa antinomia antes expuesta. Para tal fin se destacará la potencia política del locus de enunciación de la diferencia colonial como punto de partida para un proyecto de conformación de comunidades y coaliciones que buscan hacer frente a múltiples opresiones. En un polémico y curioso diálogo que Carl Schmitt escribió para un programa radiofónico en 1954, y que fue emitido primeramente bajo el título “Principios del poder”, [1] el influyente pensador político alemán sostiene, en uno de sus pasajes centrales, que Hobbes es el más moderno de los filósofos políticos. En su argumentación señala que Hobbes fue capaz de exponer el poder en términos exclusivamente humanos, esto es, desde la perspectiva de su infinita peligrosidad. Según Schmitt, el estado moderno plenamente (...) organizado en la teoría hobbesiana es un producto técnico artificial, una gran máquina moderna creada por hombres a través del consenso pero, una vez constituida, capaz de superar todo consenso situándose sobre el hombre e independiente del hombre mismo. Desde hace ya algunas décadas venimos asistiendo a un renacer del interés por Hobbes que se ha hecho manifiesto en una multiplicación de sugerentes relecturas y reinterpretaciones de su pensamiento que llenan los índices de las editoriales en el área de la filosofía y la ciencia política. La lectura de Schmitt podríamos considerarla particularmente señera de esta tendencia actual, al advertirnos sobre la cercanía que las teorías del pensador inglés guardan con la desnuda realidad con que hoy en día los dispositivos de poder operan en nuestra sociedad post capitalista. Dentro de esta atmósfera de actualidad de Hobbes en la que se comienza a respirar, quizás de forma algo inconsciente, una serie de tesis supuestamente sabidas sobre las teorías del pensador inglés, eso que se suele denominar lugares comunes, es de agradecer la iniciativa que han tenido los editores Guillermo Escolar y Alejandro Mayo de acercarnos, en una edición bilingüe extremadamente cuidada, esta obra de Thomas Hobbes conocida como “Tratado sobre la libertad y la necesidad” y que su autor escribió, sin la intención de publicar, hacia 1645. Reencontrarnos con la prosa fina, inteligente y polémica del pensador inglés, en uno de sus momentos más lúcidos y en medio de la ardua y encendida controversia que mantuvo con el obispo de Derry, John Bramhall, nos permite reconocer la verdadera modernidad de las tesis de Hobbes, al tiempo que nos devuelve a la claridad sobre el alcance e incidencia que su pensamiento ha tenido en las reflexiones posteriores sobre la naturaleza del poder y de la libertad y sobre las ilusiones que tantas veces hemos edificado sobre estos conceptos. Jorge Oteiza (1908-2003) dio escasas pistas sobre su estancia en Argentina, Chile y Colombia entre 1935 y 1948. Este artículo desarrolla un análisis de la evolución de sus ideas estéticas a la luz de un cotejo de sus publicaciones de las décadas de 1940, 1950 y 1960 y la documentación personal del artista conservada en el archivo y la biblioteca de la Fundación Museo Jorge Oteiza (Alzuza, Navarra). Se presta especial atención a la relación de Oteiza con diversos artistas americanos (...) y del exilio español, en un tejido en cuyo centro se encontraría en muchas ocasiones el poeta Vicente Huidobro. En particular, se analiza su encuentro con poetas como Pablo de Rokha, Pablo Neruda y Juan Larrea, así como su estudio del arte precolombino y su recepción del muralismo de David Alfaro Siqueiros y el constructivismo de Joaquín Torres García, que lo llevarían a proponer un cambio de paradigma cultural, en los albores de la posmodernidad, en diálogo con el indigenismo y el poscolonialismo. Call ‘a substance’ a person who is at home in a relatively stable and unified sense-making framework: a social structure that to some degree specifies which categories are important for interpreting reality, which goals are worth pursing, which character traits are admirable, etc. Call ‘an accident’ a person who is not at home in one such framework. It is tempting to think that being a substance is preferable, but I present some considerations for thinking otherwise. Mexican philosophers Emilio Uranga and (...) Jorge Portilla, I argue, present notions of accidentality as decolonial tools. Uranga’s account enables Mexicans to have positive valuation of their being independently of the approving gaze of the colonizers and their standards of value. Portilla’s thought distinguishes between pernicious accidentality resulting from the disintegration of sense-making frameworks and authentic accidentality as a condition for freedom, self-creation, and ultimately for individual and communal liberation. The current assessment of behaviors in the inventories to diagnose autism spectrum disorders (ASD) focus on observation and discrete categorizations. Behaviors require movements, yet measurements of physical movements are seldom included. Their inclusion however, could provide an objective characterization of behavior to help unveil interactions between the peripheral and the central nervous systems. Such interactions are critical for the development and maintenance of spontaneous autonomy, self-regulation and voluntary control. At present, current approaches cannot deal with the heterogeneous, dynamic and stochastic (...) nature of development. Accordingly, they leave no avenues for real-time or longitudinal assessments of change in a coping system continuously adapting and developing compensatory mechanisms. We offer a new unifying statistical framework to reveal re-afferent kinesthetic features of the individual with ASD. The new methodology is based on the non-stationary stochastic patterns of minute fluctuations (micro-movements) inherent to our natural actions. Such patterns of behavioral variability provide re-entrant sensory feedback contributing to the autonomous regulation and coordination of the motor output. From an early age, this feedback supports centrally driven volitional control and fluid, flexible transitions between intentional and spontaneous behaviors. We show that in ASD there is a disruption in the maturation of this form of proprioception. Despite this disturbance, each individual has unique adaptive compensatory capabilities that we can unveil and exploit to evoke faster and more accurate decisions. Measuring the kinesthetic re-afference in tandem with stimuli variations we can detect changes in their micro-movements indicative of a more predictive and reliable kinesthetic percept. Our methods address the heterogeneity of ASD with a personalized approach grounded in the inherent sensory-motor abilities that the individual has already developed. (shrink)

A pesquisa que fundamenta este artigo investiga a eficácia dos cursos de formação em direitos humanos e controle de convencionalidade ministrados pela ENFAM e Escolas judiciais e verificar se os magistrados estão aplicando as normas de DDHH e realizando o controle de convencionalidade. A pesquisa apresenta resultados de um estudo sobre as sentenças proferidas em Campinas, de 2015 a 2019, verificando a abordagem ou referências feitas nessas decisões sobre “direitos humanos” e “controle de convencionalidade”. Foram verificadas todas as sentenças proferidas (...) em 33 varas judiciais. Os resultados indicam que as Escolas judiciais devem ampliar, intensificar e aprofundar o seu compromisso ético, estético e político de formação para garantir a dignidade humana e os direitos humanos no sistema jurisdicional. The text is part of the investigative concerns from the authors with regard to the dialogue between literature and science teaching. It starts from several theoretical approaches around the general didactics, university or superior didactics, science’s didactics and for last, literature’s didactics. This is largely due to our search which is focused in articulate the university didactics with science and literature’s didactics, meanwhile, we pretend to answer to the questions ¿How are the specific didactics of science and literature going to (...) contribute to the university didactics and how is the last one going to contribute to these specific didactics? ¿Is it the dialogue between science and literature possible? The paper has been made in middle education, in Educative Institution José Miguel de Restrepo y Puerta, from Copacabana and also in university education, in the academic unities of Dietetics and Nutrition School, Agricultural Sciences and Medicine, from the University of Antioquia. Finally, the partial results indicate: i) the necessity of general Didactics as a discipline focused on teaching and learning processes to ask itself for its internal problems and establish relations with specific didactics. This article examines Sappho’s “Brothers’ Poem” in relation to fragments 5, 9 and 17 and to fragments 129 and 130b.17-20 of Alcaeus to determine the possible contexts of performance. It is established by critics that these fragments would have been hymns performed in the sanctuary of the Lesbian triad. The hymnodic character of these compositions leads to identify resonances in the corpus of Homeric Hymns on the basis of invocations, epithets and spheres of influence that converge with those of the (...) From the thought of mid-twentieth century Mexican philosopher Jorge Portilla, I develop an account of what I call ‘ethics of ethnic identity,’ which include: a) a set of norms of agency grounded in ethnic identity, or ethnic norms of agency—reasons for action and obligations that spring from a given ethnic identity, and b) a type of normativity governing these ethnic norms of agency. I argue that one of the theoretical advantages of this account is that it fares well with respect (...) to human flourishing, moral obligations, and freedom and autonomy. I also develop an account of ethics of ethnic identity from Christine Korsgaard’s account of the sources of normativity and use it as a sophisticated foil against which my elaborations of Portilla’s views can be fruitfully contrasted. The concept of religion as an anthropological category and the idea of race as an organizing principle of human identification and social organization played a major role in the formation of modern/colonial systems of symbolic representation that acquired global significance with the expansion of Western modernity. The modern concepts of religion and race were mutually constituted and together became two of the most central categories in drawing maps of subjectivity, alterity, and sub-alterity in the modern world. This makes the critical (...) theory of religion highly relevant for the theory of race, and both of them crucial for ethics. It follows from this, not only that religion and race have been profoundly intertwined in modernity, but also that any ethics that seeks to take seriously the challenges created by modernity/coloniality has to be, at least to some extent, decolonial. One important limitation of the current renditions of interpretivism is that its emphasis on the moral dimension of sport has overlooked the aesthetic dimension lying at the core of this account of sport. The interpretivist’s failure to acknowledge and consider the aesthetic implicitly distances this realm from the moral. Marcia Muelder Eaton calls this distancing the separatist mistake. This paper argues that interpretivism presupposes not only moral but also aesthetic principles and values. What it sets out to demonstrate is that (...) interpretivism is an integralist, or nonseparatist, account of sport, one in which ethical and aesthetic values are not exclusive. Making explicit and specifying interpretivism’s combined moral-aesthetic approach to sport not only helps to better distinguish the whole range of values that make up sport as well as their interconnection but also encourages sportspeople to pursue more coherent sport and, thus, more enriching lives. Elementos de Teoría de la Educación se presenta como una obra de síntesis de aquellos aspectos que, dentro del ámbito de la Teoría de la Educación, resultan fundamentales para los estudiantes universitarios preocupados por la educación en todas sus vertientes. Destinada, pues, a prestar un servicio teórico en cuanto a la exposición y clarificación de posiciones filosóficas y pedagógicas perennes -sin dejar por ello de realizar incursiones tanto históricas como culturales-, se estructura de tal modo que puede servir también como (...) guía orientativa y facilitadora que aliente posteriores desarrollos. Estructurada en dos partes bien diferenciadas -Problematizaciones: exigencias y finalidades pedagógicas y, en segundo lugar, Esquemas temáticos-, la presente obra cuenta con la ventaja de introducir en la primera de ellas cuestiones globales que, en la segunda, son retomadas en núcleos temáticos, esto es, con una inserción concreta y muy determinada. Con ello se pretende no sólo guiar al alumno a través de la temática teórico-educativa sino, también, incentivar la lectura activa. Sólo resta desear que los contenidos y la estructuración que aquí se ofrecen respondan tanto a los importantes anhelos de los estudiantes de Educación como a las considerables necesidades formativas que la sociedad les demanda. This article examines Aristotle's views concerning the possibility of friendship between human beings and nonhuman animals. The suggestion that he denies this possibility is rejected. I reassess the textual evidence adduced by scholars in support of this reading, while adding new material for discussion. Central to the traditional reading is the assumption that animals, in Aristotle's view, cannot be friends in virtue of their cognitive limitations. I argue that Aristotle's account of animal cognition is perfectly consistent with the possibility of (...) friendship between human beings and nonhuman animals. (shrink)
