Una de las medidas del Ministerio de Educación del Perú frente a la emergencia sanitaria mundial COVID 19; fue decretar de forma inmediata la continuidad del servicio en la modalidad de educación a distancia; generándose una crisis propia del proceso de adecuación y tránsito a una nueva forma de enseñar. El objetivo fue: Determinar el nivel de percepción de los docentes de educación básica, respecto a su trabajo pedagógico en esta modalidad. O propósito fundamental do presente artigo consiste em examinar os termos da liberdade em Hobbes, utilizando-se do sentido liberal de liberdade, por vezes atribuído ao modo como o filósofo concebe a sua posição sobre a liberdade, mediante as discussões de Quentin Skinner acerca da concepção “neorromana” de liberdade ou a liberdade republicana. Com base nesse pressuposto, pretende evidenciar como a concepção moderna de liberdade é inteiramente dependente da construção hobbesiana da “liberdade negativa”, influenciada diretamente por um debate político ocorrido na (...) Inglaterra nos meados do século XVII. Com base nesses elementos, o cerne das discussões que serão empreendidas no presente artigo diz respeito à crítica hobbesiana à liberdade republicana como pressuposto para demonstrar o desenvolvimento da concepção moderna de liberdade. Uma vez examinada essa relação, será possível, portanto, evidenciar os aspectos marcantes do liberalismo presentes na argumentação política de Hobbes. (shrink)

O objetivo deste artigo é realizar uma análise comparativa da forma como Edith Stein e Simone Weil desenvolvem o conceito de “corpo”, sobretudo em escritos de juventude. Para isso, partimos de uma análise de como cada uma das filósofas entende a corporeidade, indicando, a seguir, as semelhanças e diferenças. Embora encontremos diversos estudos apontando a afinidade entre as autoras, tais trabalhos costumam investigar as semelhanças biográficas, ou o envolvimento de ambas com a vivência mística. Seguindo, no entanto, um caminho (...) pouco explorado, procuramos analisar as convergências e divergências, no que diz respeito, especificamente, à noção de corpo, demonstrando, através deste estudo, como tanto Stein como Weil apresentam considerações originais em torno do tema, assunto, também, pouco investigado nas pesquisas sobre a fenomenologia da corporeidade. The fundamental program of Stein’s philosophy after his conversion was the relationship between modern philosophy and scholasticism. This article deals with new metaphysical and epistemological aspects of Stein’s work that reflect the encounter between both philosophical currents, starting from her reading of Thomas Aquinas’ De veritate, which have not yet been treated in the Edith Stein Forschung. Thus, from the metaphysical point of view, the question of the relationship between unity and multiplicity and the problem of the conditions of (...) possibility of organic development are identified. And from the epistemological point of view, the following relevant aspects are raised: the starting point of philosophizing; the principles of knowledge; the extent to which habit influences knowledge; the question of whether angelic knowledge can serve to clarify human knowledge; the relationship between mathesis universalis and divine knowledge; the relationship between abstraction and intuition; and the critique of the Heideggerian interpretation of the concept of truth in the philosophical tradition. Hong Kong’s non-white ethnic minorities – including its Filipina residents – are often described in media and policy discourses as a unified group. Speaking back to this misconception, in this article we describe the gendered experiences of two 23-year old Filipinas born and raised in Hong Kong through what Claudia Mitchell has described as girl method – research with girls for girls and about girls’ concerns – in our case producing visual depictions of girlhood in cellphilms and collaborative writing. We (...) write together as co-researchers to extend participatory approaches to research dissemination as we make sense of the changing political situation in Hong Kong in the years since our first collaboration in 2015. Through a polyvocal – many voices writing together – reflection on a cellphilm production project on identities and belonging four years later, we argue that Filipina identity in Hong Kong is complex and multifarious, and we aim to disseminate knowledge by and for Filipina Hong Kongers that speaks back to the erasure of their experiences within larger discourses about Filipinas, gender, and activism in Hong Kong. Background: Nursing students on clinical placements as part of their professional training are routinely faced with situations involving ethical conflicts. The initial act of perceiving a situation as causing an ethical dilemma is the result of both the students’ personal values, drawn from their culture and families, and of the professional knowledge and values that they have acquired through training and experience. Objectives: Nursing students’ experiences on clinical placements in primary care settings were investigated in order to identify situations that (...) they perceived as involving ethical conflict and describe the elements they took into consideration during their decision-making processes in these situations. Methods: The research design was qualitative descriptive case study. Around 50 students from three different intakes to a nursing degree answered a questionnaire and discussed it in focus groups. Ethical considerations: The study was designed in accordance with the principles guiding research with human beings and was approved by the Human Research Ethics Committee. Results: Synthesised into two principal axes: (a) ethical conflicts in primary care, linked with the domains of working processes, professional nursing ethics and human and social rights and (b) students’ decision-making processes – realisation, reflection and intervention. Conclusion: The student nurses saw themselves both as actors and spectators in situations involving ethical problems and demanding moral deliberation, demonstrating the ability to base their arguments soundly. They tended to emphasise the possibilities offered by dialogue and that different ethical values must be respected to find fair solutions to ethical problems. (shrink)

This article attempts to find common ground between Plato and Kant on the topic of beauty and aesthetic contemplation. The Kantian notion of “liking devoid of interest” is interpreted in such a way that it can be brought into harmony with two Platonic accounts of beauty found in the Symposium and the Hippias Major. I argue that both thinkers do justice to the relationship between desire and beauty, while also both asserting that the proper appreciation of beauty per se—whether in (...) an object or as an essence—requires a disinterested stance. A partir de proposições da pragmática linguística, a materialidade do texto é descrita como uma estrutura de comunicação com o leitor; em diálogo com a narratolo¬gia baseada em teorias de mundos possíveis, os efeitos dessa comunicação são descritos como o estímulo ao conhecimento e interpretação e mundos ficcionais e enredos singulares. Quantos aos processos mentais estimulados pela leitura, parte-se (...) da teoria da consciência de Michael Graziano para situar a semiose dos símbolos linguísticos como um processo basilar de afetivização, que leva, num grau ascendente de complexidade, à interpretação dos estados mentais, à moralização das ações e à enação dos estados conscientes dos personagens, que predominam nos estágios conscientes da relação afetiva com o texto. This research characterizes and compares the job satisfaction of fitness professionals in Portugal between genders, ages, professional experience, professional title, and educational qualifications. A total of 401 fitness professionals answered the online questionnaire Job Satisfaction Scale, which has 16 factors rated on a Likert scale with seven levels. The statistical analysis comprises descriptive and statistical tests to compare the results of two (t-test) or more (ANOVA) groups. Overall, the results demonstrated that fitness professionals were moderately satisfied with their work. The (...) lower degrees of job satisfaction were concerning salary, opportunities for promotion, and stability at work. The highest levels of job satisfaction were related to the freedom to choose their work method, their work colleagues, the physical conditions of their workplace, and the opportunity to use their competencies. There were no differences in job satisfaction in terms of gender and a few differences between professional title and between educational levels. Regarding age and professional experience, the results showed significant differences in almost all factors, suggesting that, as fitness professionals get older and more experienced, their job satisfaction is greater. The results of this study suggest that even though fitness professionals are, in general, moderately satisfied with their work, some aspects can be improved by employers to increase their satisfaction levels. Such findings would assist employers in guiding the job satisfaction of their employees with consequent enhancements in the services provided by fitness professionals, which can increase participants’ retention in exercise fitness activities. The inclusion of ethics and politics into artistic creation process is for many contemporary creators/artists an essential motivation while they consciously act in an aesthetic space polluted with the realities of a world in crisis. Art, which produces visible and sensible forms, can reveal aesthetic ideas and fundaments through aesthetic objects: drawing, video-installing or poem/poetry. And artists can make someone feel with their creations—whether these are beautiful, sublime, tragic, or ironic—ethical contentions violated by human action or the exertion/exercise of political (...) power. Works of art that are not only guided by the categories signed by beauty, because in artistic languages, violence and suffering also make/create form. And times of crisis are the ideal sphere/dimension for an art that gives a vivid way of seeing/watching the uncertainty, the perversion, the terrible. In bringing these philosophical—ethical, aesthetic and political—topics, I do it from an approach that departs form artistic creations and curatorial research. I try to penetrate the narrow thread between an ethical topic and the plastic form in which it incarnates/embodies itself, or between a political action and the aesthetic structure of language as a creative, expressive consequence. En este artículo queremos realizar una propuesta de abordaje bioético para la toma de decisiones médicas. Los siguientes tres argumentos son los que sostienen esta propuesta. En primer lugar, creemos que el concepto de cuidado es una herramienta necesaria para alcanzar la excelencia profesional y ver que en este hay un compromiso moral para con el paciente. En segundo lugar, defendemos que el principialismo es una buena opción para dar una mayor comprensión al abordaje de los casos. Industrial development in recent decades has led to using information and communication technologies to support personnel selection processes. One of the most notable examples is game-related assessments, supposedly as accurate as conventional tests but which generate better applicant reactions and reduce the likelihood of adverse impact and faking. However, such claims still lack scientific support. Given practitioners’ increasing use of GRA, this article reviews the scientific literature on gamification applied to personnel selection to determine whether the current state of the (...) art supports their use in professional practice and identify specific aspects on which future research should focus. Following the PRISMA model, a search was carried out in the Web of Science and Scopus databases, identifying 34 valid articles, of which 85.3% are empirical studies that analyze five areas: validity; applicant reactions; design of GRA; personal characteristics and GRA; and adverse impact and faking. Together, these studies show that GRA can be used in personnel selection but that the supposed advantages of GRA over conventional tests are fewer than imagined. The results also suggest several aspects on which research should focus, which could help define the situations in which the use of GRA may be recommended. (shrink)

The aim is to analyze how one of the most important thinkers of the time valued some political Spanish events, certain aspects of socioeconomic reality, or determined features which he considered to constitute the Spanish «national character». Throughout his entire intellectual trajectory, Mill seems to have been aware of the complex and eventful life of Spanish politics. Moreover, Mill visited Spain in 1860 and captured the (...) image of a country in a process of economic transformation, similar to the image portrayed by historians today and far from the romantic stereotypes that were so common to travel books of the 19th century. This study aimed to understand the expressions of fear in the journeys of health professionals who worked in the confrontation of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID‐19), in the city of Manaus, in the Brazilian Western Amazon. This is an exploratory qualitative study that adopts interpretive description as a method to generate informed knowledge responsive to the needs of the practice. We included 56 participants, comprising 23 health managers and 33 health workers (middle and higher level) of different professional categories. The results (...) revealed three circles of experience: (1) knowledge and professional experience in dealing with the disease (unknown–known–experienced); (2) the growing proximity to death and loss (predicted–witnessed–suffered); and (3) the involvement and proximity to whatever affects the individual, their emotions, and personal transformations in the face of the threat (the collective, the neighbor, and oneself). Our results suggest that health professionals who worked during the COVID‐19 pandemic in Manaus experienced insecurity, dread, and fear, illustrating the complexity of developing their activities in the front line of care and management during the different phases of the pandemic. A contribution of the study is precisely that of capturing this complexity, which suggests the impossibility of analyzing fear only in its simple manifestation, or in each circle of experience.
