Perhaps the time has come in Ukraine, when “pedagogy, which puts a person at the center of everything, is now hopelessly outdated”. Perhaps it’s time to help schools enter the three-dimensional world where God rules all things and where He defines “me”, “you”, “us”, “them.” The President sent to us by God set the goal to make a change in the philosophy of the school in Ukraine. It turns out, V.A Yushchenko. has in his heart to set another goal for (...) Ukrainian education: to give our students the knowledge necessary for eternity. Will the realization of this goal become a big change, deep and thorough? It depends on us - practical teachers, methodologists, theorists, experimenters, academics and officials, all whom God has called to serve in the field of education, "to sow the rational, the good, the eternal.". The problem of baptism of the Ancient Rus is traditionally relevant to this day. She was brilliantly discussed on the pages of the journal "Proceedings of the Kiev Theological Academy" throughout the entire period of its existence. A profound analysis of the problems of the baptism of Rus devoted a number of his works published in this magazine, the famous Ukrainian historian, professor of the Kiev Theological Academy I.G.Malyseshevsky. Among his most interesting works - articles "Varyags in the initial history (...) of Christianity in Kiev", where the author considers the role of the Varangian element in the dissemination and establishment of Christianity in; "The fate of the Slavic church in Moravia, Pannonia with the students of Cyril and Methodius," which analyzes the activities of the Slavic enlighteners Cyril and Methodius, the influence of the Cyril and Methodius tradition on the affirmation of Christianity among the Slav peoples and, in particular, Ancient Rus. With Ukraine gaining independence and its emergence as an independent democratic state, the interest of the scientific community in the Kyiv monuments of the great princely period increases, when Christianity, having come to our lands, has become an important factor in state-building.

This article aims to develop new conceptions of the psychosocial dynamics that drive the re-romanticization of domestic femininity in current financialized capitalism. Feminist scholars have described this heightened cultivation of mothering as a reparative move in response to irreconcilable tensions between cultural ideals of the ‘balancing mother’ and ‘lean-in femininity’. This article adds a materialist-psychosocial lens to these conceptions, to enhance understanding of what drives this craving for domestic femininity. Drawing on a free-association narrative interview study with couples in the (...) financial elite in the comparatively gender-egalitarian Norwegian context, I describe a specific emotional mechanism that resists democratization of gender in this specific group. The interviews reveal a felt need to cultivate ‘the human side of things’ at safe distance from the competitiveness of ‘hard-core finance’. The Nordic earner–carer model with its entwinement of care and professional pursuits, cultivated by the more self-fulfilment-oriented parts of the professional middle-class appears not only unwanted but threatening. In my analysis, I retrieve and develop a psychoanalytically inspired historical-materialist feminism, one that perceives of the gendered division of work as a split in modes of focusing human energy. I suggest that the resurgent cultivation of domestic femininity is nurtured by a self-energizing antagonism between competitive and relational practices. I further argue that the cultivation of domestic femininity in these financial couples points to a potential antagonism between the democratization of love and the specific anxiety-driven competitiveness to which this financial-elite group may be particularly susceptible. The most famous Socratic question—ti esti touto?—is often pre- ceded by a far less famous, but more fundamental question—esti touto ti? Though this question is posed in many dialogues with re- spect to myriad topics, in every instance it receives but one answer: it is something, namely something that is. The dialogue devoted to why this question always meets with an affirmative answer would appear to be the Parmenides, for there Parmenides throws into question whether the eidē are, only to (...) establish that, if we have opinions that there is some unity in being, such unity must be. Nevertheless, the dramatic setting of the Parmenides is the quarreling of the Pre-Socratic schools, and the popular dismissal of philosophy that their quarreling engendered. For a dialogue that establishes that the object of inquiry is simply because we have opinions about it, we must, as I hope to show, turn to the Euthyphro. (shrink)

This article aims to contribute to the currently sparse literature on transnational families and gender. It focuses on the retrospective accounts of Caribbean-born adults who as children were serial migrants, joining their parents in the UK following a period of separation. It considers aspects of their relationships with their siblings and with their mothers and fathers. The article illuminates what the serial migrants viewed as contradictory everyday practices that produced ‘non-shared environments’. It discusses three ways in which transnationalism appeared to (...) be a central part of the serial migrants’ family lives. First, it was embodied. Second, it was lived as cultural difference between Caribbean-born and UK-born siblings. Third, it was reported to be evident in parental practices. The article illustrates the importance of viewing gendered narratives in a psychosocial intersectional perspective. (shrink)
