In his new book, La société automatique, Bernard Stiegler departs from a philosophical tradition that opposes autonomy and automatization so as to position automatization at the core of biological, social, and technical forms of life. This article reevaluates the historical conditions of the concomitant rise of computational systems and DNA-coding in the 1950s and addresses the implementation of behavioral psychology and cybernetic technologies of control after the Second World War. From this historical perspective, this article interrogates the intersectional relation that automatic systems of control share with models of segregation and structures of knowledge oppression. It engages with the work of French philosopher Gilbert Simondon and poses Simondon’s cybernetic theory as an opportunity to question systems (...) of knowledge imposed on ontological domains. Finally, it reveals how cybernetics reproduces a model of cultural understanding based on exclusion/inclusion and addresses the difficulty of creating new critical paradigms from within the informational technologies of neo-colonial episteme. -/- Too often, technologies of scientific knowledge such as machine learning and informational networks are used as alibi for the imple- mentation of neo-colonial values that dictate the epistemological trajectory of societies. Scientific projects that, for example, promote the testing of pharmaceuticals on individuals in third world countries privilege beings based on categorical understandings of race, class, gender, and ability. Such projects not only legitimize structural hierarchies among subjects, as seen in the use of cephalometric technologies in imperial systems of exploration; they also sustain the cultural framework of values that segregate collective beings on a global scale. Prior to being a body present in time, the Other is a mountainous relief in the landscape of a common world, a perspective shape that the “I” chooses to welcome or not. This relief—if it has often been considered from the point of view of an authority deciding where It should stand—will become, we hope, the possible zone of an encounter. When this relief comes out of the ground and enters the world, when the Other becomes simultaneously something that feels (...) and is felt, its expression opens up to become a zone of contact, a mobile and permeable layer of exchange. In this surrounding zone, the Other strips and exposes itself as evanescence. It is this unattainable geometric point that inscribes an atmospheric change by its presence: tempest, thunder, earthquake, but also heat, humidity, and evaporation. The Other is an organic sounding board reflecting our modes of being together. It is this person— per-sonare—through which the world resonates, who transforms, in the same fashion, the thermal sensations into energizing transfers, into dynamic emotions. Responding to the power of algorithms to operate within our daily lives, this article proposes to think of our contemporary moment as that of a society of preemption. Preemption defines the action of taking away something before an opportunity emerges or is actualized. By coupling anticipatory algorithms and preemptive technologies—like the premeditation of future events prior to their occurrence, as exemplified in popular culture by Minority Report (Massumi, Hansen)—state apparatuses force upon their subjects a modality of control that forestalls behaviors (...) according to a massive system of data-mining and digital profiling. In this society of preemption, data are not simply voluntary exteriorized onto technical supplements (Stiegler); they are extracted from individuals by devices that preempt events and program behavior. Such a society calls for a noopolitics of the milieu, a politics that focuses on the relation between psychic and collective individuals. Whereas noopolitics has mainly been understood as a pejorative term for the hegemonic operations of power on knowledge production (Lazzarato, Terranova, Hauptmann), this article proposes a more nuanced definition of noopolitics, reconceptualized from a power that controls to a power that operates on people’s memory, behaviors, and desire. Such a noopolitics takes place in a milieu (Canguilhem, Simondon) whose relational ontology and technicity now crucially address today’s society of preemption. (shrink)

Stiegler’s political philosophy of time-consciousness reveals three concomitants urgencies: human memory is conditioned by industrial supplements that are increasingly disruptive, capitalism has produced an entropic condition where life on earth is threaten by toxic systems, the deployment of technologies of spirits has striped individuals of their psychic and collective individuation. Performative Images is about art and activists’ engagement in video technology—an engagement that unsettles the hegemonic narrative of dominant media, as well as the apparently politically neutral dimension of communication technology. To Stiegler’s notion of pansable (curable), one might also need to add that penser (to think) relates to the Latin penso, the frequentative of pendo, to hang, suspend. The pansable (that which can be healed) is as much the pensable (that which can be thought) and the suspensible (that which can be hung). Stiegler’s final act revealed that which was always already there: an unhealed pharmacological shadow that preceded him. While he entered philosophy with the argument of technics as the (...) impensé (unthought) of continental philosophy, he concluded in a final acting out, an impansable (uncurable) that ended his life. He, who believed that life is about cultivating rêveries and protentions capable of promise. Protention means both a capacity to invent and an ability to project oneself into the future through the practice of imagination and desire. He, who pondered about the retentions we have and the various forms of memory they take, and how to make them become the true modes of being-in-the-world. I know now that his fatal transgression is as much an accident as a departure, an emotional ceasefire and a bifurcative ending. AI-powered technology can both promote accuracy and hide the standards of measurement and circulation of information. It can also produce models that are opaque and hard to access. As such, the new paradigm of AI asks to pounder about societal values and sets of priorities we want to promote, especially as these technologies are further deployed in times of warfare. This issue is devoted to a nootechnics of the digital, which defines the importance given to both life and thought in the technogenesis of objects (both artefac- tual and technical). If the ontogenesis once resided in the relation between form and matter, we are now moving toward the question of a nootechno- genesis that resides in the relation between noos and techné. Nootechnogene- sis does not separate the emergence of technics and life. Instead, it offers a mode for thinking about (...) the genesis of both noos (intuition, intelligence, flair, intention) and techné (technique, craft, art) as the condition and the conse- quence of our cultural condition, of our ability to mediate and negotiate dif- ferent realms of reality. Nootechnics refers to the psycho-cultural practices of care and empowerment. It supposes the wiring of a transductive unity between beings and technical objects. This transductive unity is what allows noos and techné to operate in a relational mediation toward one another and to restructure the dynamic relations between elements within a system. For that matter, nootechnics refers to care and empowerment as structural oper- ations; they promote a relational ontology of mediation needed to implement changes. (shrink)

Noology is the technical life of ideology. It works at the formal and technical production of knowledge, rather than focusing on the content displayed by a specific system of thought. There are two reasons why the notion of noology must play a role in today’s critical and political debates. First, the concept of ideology has lost its relevance since its everyday meaning is far removed from the original meaning Karl Marx gave it; today ideology mainly means “political doctrine,” right-wing, left-wing, (...) or the entire spectrum of shades between the two. Expressions such as “an ideology” or “ideologies” are used in critical analysis, while for Marx “ideology” has always come without any pronoun. Ideology now presents itself as an “inversion of causalities producing illusions.”1 The second reason has to do with the changes in the modes of production since the 1970s, and the rise of the post-Fordist economy, or “neoliberalism.” Since the 1970s, the end of ideologies has been proclaimed (epitomised by Daniel Bell). Given this context, noology critique demonstrates that the work of ideology in today’s economy plays out at an infrastructural level, in social organs that materially institutionalise thought and ideas, and not simply at the level of the immaterial culture of political parties and discourses (superstructure). The battlefield of the Anthropocene is a tragic one. It begins at the end. It emerges out of melancholy, in the locality of being not-dead-yet. As an Epoch dating the human impact on earth, the Anthropocene looks like a graveyard-to-come, one in which the story of humankind is writing its own epitaph in real time. The tragedy of our moment, or the tragic moment of our action means having to act despite knowing it is too late, searching for hope in (...) the dark. This tragedy produces the sensation that humankind must necessarily face its own limits. And these limits are telling a story that is not a happy one: we cannot keep up with the pace of such an entropic boneyard. When it comes to the massive eradications of people and species, no one can justify the feelings of sympathy that proliferate against a back- ground of intellectual numbness. With the concept of the technical image, Flusser indicates a historical shift in the structure of Western society.1 Technical images, as found in photographs, films, videos, computer terminals, and television screens, designate images produced by an apparatus designed to create programmed information. Contrary to traditional images which carry significance through representation as seen in paintings, technical images are surfaces that operate according to “inverted vectors of meaning.”2 The meaning of a technical image is not found in what the image signifies (...) but in what it projects. In other words, technical images are less about the representation of the world and more about modeling the subject’s relation to and vision of reality. As such, technical images are “instructional programs” designed to inculcate significance, shape behavior, and direct subjects on how to make sense of the world.3 The surfaces of technical images move away from a mimetic representation of the real to inscribe concepts as connotative, as opposed to denotative, forms of signification. However, traditional images and technical images are not entirely disconnected from one another. Together they shape the posthistorical phase of humanity, a phase in which humans’ relationship to reality is increasingly conditioned and modulated by embedded codification. This codification is produced by apparatuses that calculate probability. These apparatuses are opaque because they no longer require the knowledge of their operation by the subject that handles them. In other words: traditional images are “observations of objects,” while technical images are “computation of concepts.”4. (shrink)

Video-objects are often discussed in terms of their ability to reflect upon the speed of our narcissistic culture, but less acknowledged is video’s agency to perform electronic events outside of human experience. This article engages in scholarship interested in the space of video operations where lived and imagined, real and virtual phenomena are experienced at the threshold of perception. Bringing into this conversation a discussion of The Waves (2003), an interactive installation by video pioneer and media critic Thierry Kuntzel, the (...) article moves away from the time/movement nexus grounded in a filmic understanding of the image to position video-memory as the emergence of a volume of time. Different from the time-image and movement-image of cinema, the volume-image of video defines a mode of engaging with multiple temporalities within the continuum of the video itself. Constituted progressively through layers of ever-changing signal processes, the volume-image of video technology is an open field, a transductive zone where multiple intensities create new representational rhythms, which disrupt the durational model of time so often attached to human experience. Tel un slogan qui sonnerait le glas de l’ennui, cette phrase s’inscrit au cœur du spectacle de la plasticienne américaine Claudia Hart, figure centrale des nouvelles expérimentations entre scène interactive, computer-art et performance aux États-Unis. Dans The Alices (Walking), un spectacle créé en collaboration avec le compositeur Edmond Campion et présenté pour la première fois en 2014 au Eyebeam Center for Art + Technology de New York, il s’agit de questionner les (...) mutations du visuel et de l’écrit dans un monde de plus en plus perçu à travers le filtre des technologies digitales. Dans ce spectacle aux allures de défilé de mode, ces mutations prennent la forme de costumes « site internet » (website dresses). Cinq acteurs défilent sur le plateau et circulent entre porte-manteaux vides et chaises momentanément occupées par des spectateurs invités à venir décrypter les codes incrustés dans la matière plastique des costumes. Les spectateurs se connectent à une application via leur téléphone ou tablette et scannent les costumes lorsque les acteurs défilent devant eux. Ces costumes sont de formes sculpturales diverses, à géométrie et couleurs variables, dans lesquelles des codes informatiques ont été incrustés. Ces codes détiennent du contenu visuel (textes et images en mouvement) qui n’est accessible qu’à travers un écran programmé pour déchiffrer en réseau les codes numériques de ces robes du futur. To speak about revolution, either as an event or as a concept, must appear presumptuous at a moment when racial discrimination, fascist politics, and the totalitarian war against women and minorities are amplified by a market economy based on systemic division. In the digital present, the systematization of division is magnified by newly algorithmic structures of machinic capitalism. In that context, the more the intellect aims to grasp the depth of revolutionary actions, the less the latter seem to make sense. (...) In other words, both the failure and the promise of revolution have created a modern paradigm to address the political struggles of our times, one that is cyclically repeating itself to challenge the limits of humankind. Bernard Stiegler est né en philosophie comme l’on construit un édifice de sable à marée montante : toujours déjà un sacrifice. D’emblée l’expérience de la beauté et de sa perte. Son suicide marque la fin d’une vie qui n’aura eu de cesse de lutter contre les faux-semblants, les sur-codages, les symptômes accablant de vérités toutes faites. Pour quelqu’un qui, comme moi, a eu la chance de côtoyer Bernard, il est difficile de ne pas se rendre compte de la force qu’il (...) nous laisse après son départ. Lui qui s’attela contre les effets de l’industrialisation de nos mémoires et de la synchronisation accélérée de nos consciences,1 lui qui lutta pour que l’âme soit l’axiome de nos politiques industrielles et digitales,2 lui qui pensa la transmission et l’adoption quand d’autres prônaient la transaction et l’adaptation. Ce numéro spécial de La Deleuziana est né d’une indignation à l’encontre de notre situation politique actuelle dans laquelle notre responsabilité d’êtres vivants partageant une planète commune est en proie à un manque cruel de soin à l’égard des autres. La notion de désir comme puissance de vie et force de création à la source de toute invention possible ainsi que de renouvellement de l’ordre établi s’est vite imposée à nous comme une nécessité théorique et pratique. Pourtant, le désir est (...) ce qui aujourd’hui semble aller le moins de soi. Tantôt confisqué par une société de consommation à outrance, relayée par des slogans vulgaires et le jeu des rencontres en ligne, tantôt dévoré par un état généralisé de dépression et d’anxiété qui dégénère dans la passivité voire l’indifférence, le désir prend de plus en plus la forme des personnages beckettiens épuisés. Saisi par l’évidence de sa palpable inefficacité tant théorique que pratique, ce numéro se donne pour objectif de réinvestir la question du désir afin de renouveler la question du vivre ensemble. L’intention initiale était d’analyser l’évolution des pratiques théoriques sur le désir en philosophie contemporaine et en psychanalyse avec une attention particulière portée aux transformations subjectives collectives opérées par les nouvelles technologies numériques. Il s’agissait d’ouvrir la voie à une compréhension du désir qui ne soit plus conçu comme une image (le désir d’être et ses structures d’identifications), ni comme un objet (le désir d’avoir et ses structures d’objectification), mais comme un milieu (le désir et ses dynamiques de relation). En effet, à la suite de Deleuze, nous posons que le désir est intransitif : il ne s’agit pas du désir de quelque chose (génitif objectif), ni du désir de quelqu’un (génitif subjectif). Le désir est un processus qui possède une existence empirique autonome et se réalise dans des entités concrètes. Ce sont ces entités qui bouleversent les milieux du désir. La question devient de savoir ce que serait un milieu désiré, désirant et désirable afin de comprendre ce qui peuple nos modalités d'être au monde. (shrink)

This book stands as a critique of racial capitalism and heteropatriarchy. Vergès, a Réunion-born independent scholar, defends a decolonial feminist approach to fight against the coloniality of power and advocates for a maroon political disobedience grounded in the possibility of futurity (38). Her book, soon to be translated in English, calls for a depatriarchalizing of revolutionary struggles (19) and questions the privilège de la blanchité (49) in the making of a civilizational feminism that continues to dismiss the experiences of racialized (...) bodies today. Astonished by France's constant dismissal of slavery and colonialism in the contemporary understanding of its society, she poses that such avoidance is grounded in France's "passion pour les principes abstraits plutôt que pour l'étude des réalités" (52). While the first part of the book opens with the racialized figure of travailleuses domestiques, leading Vergès to critique the constant overlooking of indigenous struggle in imperial feminism, the second half of the book calls into question the fundamentalism of laïcité that subsequently develops against the background of a certain Orientalism centered around the white liberal elite. She highlights how "[l]es femmes racisées sont acceptées dans les rangs des féministes civilisationnelles à la condition qu'elles adhèrent à l'interprétation occidentale du droit des femmes" (79). لا جدال في مركزية أو أهمية ممارسة النقد والتنظير له في فكر العظم. وللوصول إلى فهمٍ أوليٍّ لهذه الأهمية وتلك المركزية، سنعمل، في هذا النص، على إبراز الصلة الوثيقة لممارسة النقد والتنظير له، في فكر العظم، بخلفيته أو نزعاته العلمية أو العلموية والتنويرية واليسارية – الماركسية؛ ثم سنقوم بتوضيح أو تأكيد الارتباط الوجودي أو الضروري، لهذه الممارسة وذاك التنظير، بسمة أو بحالة «الأزمة» الملازمة للواقع والفكر العربيين المعاصرين.

"ما العدالة؟"، بمثل هذه الصيغة من السؤال أو التساؤل، الذي يسعى إلى تحديد معنى المفاهيم وماهية الأشياء، بدأ الفكر الفلسفيّ المنهجيّ والمدوَّن رحلته. وللإجابة عن هذا السؤال تحديدًا، خصّص أفلاطون – وهو أوّل فيلسوفٍ وصلتنا مؤلّفاته - أحد أوّل وأهمّ كتبه في الفلسفة عمومًا، وفي الفلسفة السياسيّة خصوصًا. واستمر انشغال الفلسفة السياسيّة والأخلاقيّة بهذا السؤال منذ "جمهورية" أفلاطون حتى "فكرة" العدالة (2009)" لأمارتيا صن، على سبيل المثال. وهذا لا يعني أنّ اهتمام الفلسفة بمسألة العدالة كان كبيرًا دائمًا. فقد تمَّ اختزال (...) العدالة أحيانًا إلى مجرد الوفاء بالوعد أو العهد أو حماية الملكية الخاصة. لكن إذا كان هذا الانشغال قد خفَّت شدته أحيانًا، فيمكن القول إنّه قد وصل إلى ذروته في العقود الأربعة الاخيرة، حيث تنحصر الفلسفة العمليّة – كما يشير هابرماس – في مسائل العدالة. ويمثّل كتاب جون رولز "نظرية في العدالة (1971)" منعطفًا مهمًّا وحاسمًا، في تناول الفلسفة السياسيّة لهذا الموضوع، بحيث يمكن تحقيب وتصنيف الأعمال التي تناولت موضوع نظريّات العدالة في الفلسفة المعاصرة( )، وفقاً لتاريخ صدورها – قبل أو بعد صدور كتاب رولز – وتبعًا لموقفها من نظريّة رولز. والحديث عن العدالة من حيث هي اعترافٌ جاء بعد حديث رولز عن العدالة بوصفها انصافًا. وسنعمل فيما يلي على القيام بدراسةٍ مفاهيميّةٍ أوليّةٍ توضِّح، من جهةٍ أولى، ارتباط مفهوم العدالة ببعض المفاهيم، مثل المساواة والجدارة والحاجة والحرّيّة ...إلخ، وتُبيِّن، من جهةٍ ثانيةٍ، بعض الدلالات الأوليّة اللغويّة والاصطلاحيّة لمفهوم الاعتراف. وسنختم بتساؤلٍ عن مدى معقوليّة تناول العدالة، من منظور فلسفة الاعتراف، وبتحديدٍ أوليٍّ للعناوين العامة التي يُفترض بمثل هذا التناول "المنشود" أن يبحثها. Many articles have emerged in relation to the recent revolutions and protest movements in the Arab world in general, including the Syrian revolution. However, Barout’s series of articles can be viewed as the first analytical, forward-looking, and indepth study of the progression of the events in Syria to date (November 2011). For this reason, and because these studies deal with significant issues for the Syrian people, a critical discussion of some of the most important ideas and facts in these studies (...) will be presented here. يتمحور البحث حول نقد صادق جلال العظم للتابوهات، عمومًا، وللتابو الجنسي، خصوصًا، وينطلق البحث من التشديد على أهمية النقد في فكر العظم، على مستويي؛ التنظير له، وممارسته في معظم أو جل أعماله، ليحاول، بعد ذلك، إبراز تلك الممارسة النقدية في ميدان التابوهات عمومًا، وتابو الجنس خصوصًا، وانطلاقًا من ذلك؛ تتمثل الأسئلة الأساسية التي يحاول البحث الإجابة عنها، في الآتي: ما أهمية النقد عمومًا، ونقد التابوهات خصوصًا، في فكر العظم؟ ما العلاقة بين النقد والتحريم، من منظور العظم؟ وإلى أي حدٍّ، وبأي (...) معنىً سعى العظم إلى تجاوز (الخطوط الحمر) في نقده لثالوث التابوهات (الجنس والدين والسياسة)؟ ما الذي ينقده العظم، تحديدًا، في ميدان التابو الجنسي؟ وما هي الإشكاليات الأساسية التي يتضمنها ويثيرها هذا النقد؟ للإجابة عن هذه الأسئلة؛ ستتجسد مقاربتنا المنهجية لنصوص العظم، في ما يمكن تسميته ﺒـ "الهيرمينوطيقا النقدية"؛ فهي هيرمينوطيقا، أو تتّصف بالسمة الهيرمينوطيقية، ليس بسبب بعدها التأويلي الصريح، أو اعتمادها على التأويل فحسب، (فبهذا المعنى، كل مقاربةٍ أو دراسةٍ هي هيرمينوطيقيةٌ، لأنها تأويليةٌ بالضرورة)؛ وإنما بسبب افتراضها، أيضًا، أن هذه النصوص تتضمن دلالاتٍ متكاملةً، تجسِّد كليةً متسقةً أو متناسقة العناصر، يمكن الإمساك بها، انطلاقًا من "المقاصد المعلنة" للكاتب، وعلى هذا الأساس، سنحاول، في عرضنا ومناقشتنا لنقد التابو (الجنسي) عند العظم، أن نستند، بالدرجة الأولى، إلى تنظير العظم نفسه حول هذه المسألة؛ أي إلى أقواله المحدَّدة وآرائه الصريحة في هذا الخصوص، قبل أن نضع هذه الرؤية النظرية في مواجهةٍ ثنائيةٍ: مع ذاتها من جهةٍ، (ضمن إطار ما يمكن تسميته بالنقد المحايث)، ومع انتقادات بعض المفكرين الذين دخلوا في حوارٍ أو سجالٍ معه، ومع رؤيتنا للواقع أو الفكر الذي يحاول العظم دراسته، (في إطار ما يمكن تسميته بالنقد الخارجي)، من جهةٍ أخرى. وهذه المواجهة النقدية المزدوجة مع ما هو محايث لفكر العظم، ومفارقٌ له، هي التي تمثِّل أساس البعد النقديِّ في دراستنا لهذا الفكر. على الرغم من المحاولات الحثيثة أو المستمرة، في الفكر الغربي، كما في الفكر العربي، للتمييز بين النقد والانتقاد، ولتأكيد إيجابية النقد، لا سلبيته، ما زال الخلط أو اللبس بين النقد والانتقاد قائمًا وبارزًا، في كثيرٍ من الأحيان، حتى في بعض النصوص التي تتضمن محاولة القيام هذا التمييز¬، ولا زالت النظرة السلبية إلى النقد طاغيةً أو حاضرةً بقوةٍ، لدرجةٍ سمحت لفيصل دراج بالقول: «النقد في زماننا شبهة، ممارسة مشبوهة، فعل سيء الصيت.» وقبل مناقشة هذه النظرة السلبية للنقد، وربطها بالفكر النقدي عند (...) العظم، لا بد من التأكيد أن الخلط أو الالتباس بين النقد والانتقاد ليس قائمًا في اللغة العربية والفكر العربي فحسب، بل هو موجودٌ وبقوةٍ في اللغات الأجنبية (الإنكليزية والفرنسية والألمانية) والفكر الغربي عمومًا. -/- وإذا عدنا إلى "معجم اللغة العربية المعاصرة"، نجد في مادة "ن ق د": «نقد الشيء: بيَّن حسنه ورديئه، أظهر عيوبه ومحاسنه [...].» هنا يبدو أن النقد يتناول السلبيات والإيجابيات، لكن سرعان ما نجد: «نقَد الناس: أظهر ما بهم من عيوب [...].» هنا يصبح النقد مختصًّا بما هو سلبيٌّ فقط. والأمر ذاته نجده في شرح فعل "انتقد" والكلمات المرتبطة به اشتقاقيًّا (انتقاد، انتقادي ...إلخ): «انتقد الكتاب وغيره: أظهر عيوبه ومحاسنه، [...]. انتقد سلوك صديقه: استنكره وأبدى رأيًا شاجبًا له [...]. أسلوب انتقادي: يتميز بحدة النقد وإظهار المساوئ دون الالتفات إلى نقاط القوة.» فتارةً يتجسَّد الانتقاد في "إظهار العيوب والمحاسن"، وتارةً أخرى يتمثَّل في "إظهار المساوئ" فقط. -/- والالتباس ذاته تقريبًا موجودٌ في المصطلحات أو المفردات الإنكليزية والفرنسية والألمانية المعبرة عن النقد و/أو الانتقاد، ومعظم ترجماتها العربية. فإذا قبلنا التمييز الشائع بين مفردتي "critique" و"criticism" الإنكليزيتين (وسنقتصر هنا على وضع المقابل الإنكليزي، مع الإشارة إلى انطباق هذا التحليل اللغوي، انطباقًا كاملًا تقريبًا، على اللغتين الفرنسية والألمانية) على أساس أن الأولى تعني النقد (بمعنى إظهار الإيجابيات والسلبيات)، والثانية تعني الانتقاد (الاقتصار على إظهار السلبيات)، فإن هذا التمييز – الذي يستسهل بعض الكتَّاب( ) تبسيطه وإخفاء إشكاليته، أو يوحون، قصدًا أو عن غير قصدٍ، بوجود هذه البساطة – يتداعى إلى حدٍّ كبيرٍ، إذا أخذنا بعين الاعتبار، ليس فقط السيرورة التاريخية لنشوء واستخدام هذين المصطلحين( )، وإنما أيضًا دلالاتهما المتداخلة حاليًّا (من المعلوم أن "criticism"( ) تعني أيضًا النقد المختص أو "النقد الأدبي")، وإحالتهما، في اللغات الإنكليزية والفرنسية والألمانية، إلى فعلٍ واحدٍ "criticize أو criticise"، للتعبير عن فعلي "نَقَدَ" و"انتَقد" في اللغة العربية، وإلى صفةٍ واحدةٍ "critical"، للإشارة إلى ما هو "نقدي" و"انتقادي"، وإلى فاعلٍ، أو اسم فاعلٍ، واحدٍ "critic"، للإشارة إلى "الناقد" و"المنتقد". -/- كيف تعامل العظم - وهو المتقن للغات الأجنبية الثلاث المذكورة آنفًا - مع هذا التداخل الدلالي بين النقد والانتقاد؟ وإلى أيّ حدٍّ، وبأيّ معنىً، اتخذ، أو لم يتَّخذ، النقد عنده طابعًا أحاديًّا، من خلال الاقتصار على السلبيات فقط، أو على الإيجابيات فقط؟ وهل يمكن للتركيز على السلبيات، وإهمال الإيجابيات، أن يكون إيجابيًّا، أو ألا يكون سلبيًّا في المحصلة، على ما في ذلك من مفارقةٍ أو تناقضٍ ظاهريٍّ؟ إنَّ الإجابة عن هذه الأسئلة وغيرها يستلزم التحديد الدقيق والمتعدد المستويات أو الأبعاد، في الوقت نفسه، لمعاني كلٍّ من "النقد" و"الانتقاد" و"الإيجابي" و"السلبي"، إلخ. ويمكن لتعدد التحديدات أو التعريفات أن يسمح بإجابةٍ مركبةٍ وغنيةٍ متعددة المستويات عن هذه الأسئلة السابقة وما يماثلها، بحيث يكون النقد، على سبيل المثال، عند العظم، سلبيًّا على مستوىً أو أكثر، وإيجابيًّا على مستوىً أخر أو أكثر. وهذه الإجابات التي تأخذ شكل "نعم ولا" هو الأقرب إلى ما يمكن أن نسميه ﺒـ "الإجابة الفلسفية"، وهي في كل الأحوال، ليست غريبةً على الفلسفة، كما يؤكِّد العظم. -/- ولتوضيح مدى سلبية و/أو إيجابية النقد عند العظم، ومعنى أو معاني هذه السلبية و/أو الإيجابية، عمومًا، والعلاقة بين بعض صيغ النقد و/أو الانتقاد خصوصًا، سنستند إلى أربعة معايير مختلفةٍ أو متمايزةٍ نسبيًّا: التسويغ أو عدم التسويغ، المحايثة أو المفارقة، التركيز المتوازن على السلبيات والإيجابيات معًا، أم التركيز على السلبيات أو الإيجابيات فقط، وجود أو عدم وجود غرض أو هدف إيجابي. إن المحاكمات أو التقييمات التي تتسم بأنها مسوَّغة، و/أو محايثة، و/أو تركز، تركيزً "متوازنًا، على السلبيات والإيجابيات، و/أو التي تستهدف تحقيق أمر إيجابيٍّ، هي أقرب إلى ما يمكن تسميته، في هذا السياق، بالنقد؛ أما المحاكمات أو التقييمات التي تتسم بأنها غير مسوَّغةٍ، و/أو مفارقةٌ أو خارجيةٌ أو غير محايثةٍ، و/أو تقتصر على التركيز على السلبيات، و/أو لا تستهدف تحقيق أمرٍ إيجابيٍّ، فهي أقرب إلى ما يمكن تسميته، في هذا السياق، بالانتقاد. ومن الواضح أنه، واستنادًا إلى كل المعايير المذكورة، يكون النقد إيجابيًّا، أو أقرب إلى ما هو إيجابيٌّ، مقارنةً بالانتقاد الذي يكون سلبيًّا أو أقرب إلى ما هو سلبيٌّ. لكن تغير معاني السلبي والإيجابي أو "ماصدقاته"، يسمح لنا بزحزحة إشكالية العلاقة بينها (بين قيم السلب والإيجاب ومعانيها) بما يساعدنا على إبراز إيجابية ما نعدُّه، من منظورٍ آخر، سلبيًّا، وإبراز سلبية ما نعده، من منظورٍ آخر، إيجابيًّا. ويبقى أن نلفت الانتباه إلى أن محاولة التمييز بين مفهومي أو فكرتي النقد والانتقاد لا تهدف، ولا ينبغي أن تهدف، إلى الفصل الحاد أو الكامل بينهما؛ إذ يمكن النظر إلى بعض (وربما كل) صيغ الانتقاد على أنها مجرد أنواعٍ متميِّزةٍ من النقد، بوصفه حكمًا تقييميًّا في خصوص موضوعٍ ما. يُقسم هذا الكتاب إلى ثلاثة أقسام. يضم الأول، وعنوانه إشكالية المنهج في هيرمينوطيقا الرموز والعلامات عند ريكور، ويتكون من ثلاثة فصول. -/- يوضح الفصل الأول إشكالية المنهج وتأسيس الفينومينولوجيا الهيرمينوطيقة: المنهج الريكوري الخاص مقاربة الهيرمينوطيقا الريكورية للرموز، عارضًا تمفصل الأبعاد التفكُّرية والفينومينولوجية والهيرمينوطيقية في فلسفة ريكور، وأسباب الانتقال من الفينومينولوجيا الماهوية إلى الفينومينولوجيا الهيرمينوطيقية، والمستويات الثلاثة لظهور الرموز وتحليلها القصدي، وأسباب الانتقال وكيفيته من رمزية الشر إلى الهيرمينوطيقا الفلسفية التفكُّرية للرموز، من منطلق الفهم التأويلي للرمز، ليبين أخيرًا صراع التأويلات والمراحل (...) الثلاث للطريق الطويلة لهيرمينوطيقا ريكور الفلسفية: الدلالية والتفكُّرية والوجودية. -/- يخصص المؤلف الفصل الثاني الصراع المنهجي في التحليل النفسي الفرويدي وانطلاقًا منه -تأويل وتفسير تيليولوجيا وأركيولوجيا لقراءة ريكور وتأويله للتحليل النفسي الفرويدي الارتيابي مقابل هيرمينوطيقا الإيمان، ولتقدير مدى اعتبار التحليل النفسي الفرويدي أركيولوجيا للذات معارضة لتيليولوجيا الذات التي تمثل الفينومينولوجيا الهيغلية مثالًا أنموذجيًا لها. كما يتناول هذا الفصل الجدل الذي حاول ريكور إقامته بين أركيولوجيا ضمنية وتيليولوجيا صريحة في الفينومينولوجيا الهيغلية، وبين أركيولوجيا صريحة وتيليولوجيا ضمنية في التحليل النفسي الفرويدي. -/- في الفصل الثالث الذي يحمل عنوان نحو هيرمينوطيقا عامة للرموز - صراع الأركيولوجيا والتيليولوجيا، ينبري المؤلف لتحديد الرمز تحديدًا متضافر العناصر ومتعدد الدلالات، ودراسة محاولة ريكور مَفْصَلة تأويل تيليولوجي مع تأويل أركيولوجي فرويدي لوعي الذات في المِلكية والسلطة والقيمة، ومناقشة مسألة أصالة منهج هيرمينوطيقا ريكور للرموز والعلامات، متسائلًا: إلى أي حد نجح ريكور في تأسيس علاقة جدلية بين المناهج الهيرمينوطيقية المتنافسة، وفي داخل كلٍّ منها؟ وإلى أي حد نجح ريكور في تحقيق المهمات الأساس التي ينبغي أن تؤديها الهيرمينوطيقا، على المستويين الإبستمولوجي والمنهجي؟ -/- يتألف القسم الثاني من الكتاب، وعنوانه إشكالية المنهج في هيرمينوطيقا ريكور للنص والسرد، من فصلين اثنين. الفصل الرابع إشكالية المنهج في هيرمينوطيقا النص عند ريكور وهو مخصص لمحاولة ريكور إقامة علاقة جدلية بين التفسير والفهم في نظريتي النص والاستعارة، وتبيّن كيفية انتقاله من هيرمينوطيقا الرموز إلى هيرمينوطيقا النصوص، وأسباب هذا الانتقال ونتائجه، مع إبداء تعريف للنص بوصفه خطابًا مكتوبًا، وتعريف السمات المؤسسة لهذا الخطاب، وإنجاز هذه السمات في اللغتين الشفهية والمكتوبة، باعتبار النص أنموذجًا إرشاديًا، ومناقشة إمكان اعتبار النص أنموذجًا هيرمينوطيقيًا يسمح بإقامة جدل بين الفهم والتفسير، وأخيرًا رسم المسارين الممكنين للجدل بين التفسير والفهم، في نظريتي النص والاستعارة: من الفهم إلى التفسير، ومن التفسير إلى الفهم. -/- في الفصل الخامس، من النص إلى السرد - إشكالية المنهج في نظرية السرد، يعالج درويش الجدل بين التفسير والفهم في نظرية السرد، منطلقًا من مناقشة اللحظات الثلاث لعملية المحاكاة في العمل السردي: لحظة الجدل بين الفهم المسبق للفعل وتصويره في عملية الحبك أو السرد؛ ولحظة الجدل بين فهمنا المسبق لماهية السرد والتفسير البنيوي للسرد؛ ولحظة الجدل بين فعل الحبك أو القصِّ أو السرد وتلقِّي القرَّاء ذلك. تؤلف هذه اللحظات مجتمعةً القوس الهيرمينوطيقي للتأويل عند ريكور، وهي مقدمات لمحاولاته التالية لحلِّ مشكلة علاقة التفسير بالفهم في المقاربتين الهيرمينوطيقية والعلمية للنص والسرد. -/- يحمل القسم الثالث من هذا الكتاب عنوان التوسُّعات المتتالية لهيرمينوطيقا النص الريكورية: الفهم والتفسير في العلوم الإنسانية والاجتماعية وفي هيرمينوطيقا الخطاب الشفهي، وهو مؤلّف من فصلين. -/- ففي الفصل السادس، إشكالية المنهج في العلوم الإنسانية والاجتماعية -امتداد الهيرمينوطيقا الريكورية إلى نظريّتي الفعل والتاريخ، يتناول دروش إشكالية المنهج في نظرية الفعل بين الدافع والحافز، وفي نظرية التاريخ بين التفسير والفهم، وبين الموضوعية العلمية والذاتية التأويلية، كما يوضح السمة الهيرمينوطيقية لعلم التاريخ بإبراز السمة التأويلية المحايثة للأوجه الثلاثة المكونة لعملية الكتابة التأريخية، عارضًا التقارب والصلة الوثيقة بين نظريات النص والفعل والتاريخ، والجدل بين العلة والسبب في نظرية الفعل، والمماثلة بين النص والفعل الحصيف بوصفه موضوع بحث العلوم الاجتماعية. -/- في الفصل السابع والأخير، وعنوانه نحو تأسيس هيرمينوطيقا للخطاب الشفهي والحوار انطلاقًا من الهيرمينوطيقا الريكورية، يتوسّع المؤلف في محاولة تأسيس هيرمينوطيقا للخطاب الشفهي عمومًا، وللحوار خصوصًا، انطلاقًا من هيرمينوطيقا ريكور للنص والفعل، فيناقش الأسباب وراء إقصاء ريكور الخطاب الشفهي من هيرمينوطيقاه، وإمكان - بل ضرورة - تأسيس هذه الهيرمينوطيقا استنادًا إلى الهيرمينوطيقا الريكورية نفسها. كما يقابل المؤلف بين بعض أنواع الخطاب الشفهي كالخطاب التلفزيوني والإذاعي والنص باعتباره أنموذجًا هيرمينوطيقيًا ويماثلهما، ليكشف عن سمات مميزة للنص في الخطاب التلفزيوني والإذاعي أيضًا. ويتطرق إلى ظاهرة عدم الفهم في تبادل الحديث الشفهي عمومًا، وفي الحوار خصوصًا، والعلاقات المعقَّدة بين الفهم والتأويل والتفسير في الحوار، باحثًا عن حلٍّ لظاهرة سوء الفهم أو عدمه في الحوار، انطلاقًا من أخلاق الحوار والفهم. وينهي الفصل هذا بالتطرق إلى الترجمة، بوصفها أنموذجًا إرشاديًّا للهيرمينوطيقا. يضمُّ هذا الكتاب النصوص التي كتبتها، في ميدان الفكر العربي عمومًا، بين عامي 2011-2016. وكما هو واضحٌ في العنوان، تتمحور مواضيع الكتاب حول ثلاث نقاطٍ أساسيةٍ: بعض إشكاليات الفكر السياسي (العربي) المعاصر، مثل مسائل القومية والديمقراطية؛ بعض الإشكاليات المرتبطة بالثورة السورية مثل خلفية هذه الثورة وأسبابها وسيرورتها وآفاقها؛ وبعض الإشكاليات المتعلقة بمسألة اللجوء.

كتاب حسام الدين درويش إشكالية المنهج في هيرمينوطيقا بول ريكور وعلاقتها بالعلوم الإنسانية: نحو تأسيس هيرمينوطيقا للحوار، الصادر عن المركز العربي للأبحاث ودراسة السياسات، كتابٌ يحلّل إشكالية المنهج في هيرمينوطيقا ريكور، ويوضح صلتها بالعلوم الإنسانية والاجتماعية، ويحاول تقويم نجاح ريكور في التأسيس النظري لعلاقة الفلسفة باللاهوت والعلم، من دون أن يتجاوز خطوطًا فاصلة بينها.

Cette recherche se concentre sur la problématique de la méthode dans l’herméneutique ricœurienne et sa relation étroite avec les sciences humaines et sociales. Cette problématique concerne aussi bien l’herméneutique ricœurienne des symboles et des signes, que les théories du texte, de l’action et de l’histoire. Notre recherche vise premièrement à analyser la dialectique que Ricœur s’efforce d’établir, aussi bien dans l’herméneutique que dans les sciences humaines et sociales, entre des approches explicatives et des approches compréhensives, entre l’herméneutique du soupçon et (...) l’herméneutique de la foi, entre l’archéologie et la téléologie, et particulièrement entre la compréhension et l’explication. Deuxièmement, tout en analysant la relation entre la compréhension, l'explication et l'interprétation, la recherche propose une herméneutique du discours oral, en général, et du dialogue, en particulier. L'herméneutique proposée dans cette recherche dépasse relativement l'herméneutique de Ricœur qui exclut explicitement le discours oral de son herméneutique. Toutefois, elle est également considérée comme une extension de l'herméneutique ricœurienne, car elle est fondée sur son paradigme du texte et celui de la traduction. La recherche suggère que le paradigme ricœurien de la traduction peut être considéré, à la fois, comme le paradigme principal de l'herméneutique proposée du discours oral, d’un côté, et comme le troisième paradigme de l'herméneutique ricœurienne, de l’autre côté, tout en sachant que le paradigme du symbole et celui du texte sont considérés respectivement comme le premier et le second paradigme de cette herméneutique. ..................... This thesis focuses on the problem of method in the hermeneutics of Paul Ricœur and its close relationship with the human and social sciences. The problem of method is discussed in Ricœur’s hermeneutics of symbols and signs and his hermeneutics of text and of action. The thesis analyses Ricœur’s dialectics between explanatory method and comprehensive method, the hermeneutics of suspicion and the hermeneutics of faith, archaeology and teleology, and particularly between understanding and explanation. This dialectic was established by Ricœur in his work on the different theories of symbol, text, metaphor, action and history. While discussing the relationship between understanding, explanation and interpretation, the thesis proposes a hermeneutics of oral discourse in general and of dialogue in particular. The hermeneutics proposed in this thesis go beyond Ricœur’s hermeneutics which explicitly excludes spoken discourse. However, it is also considered as an extension of the hermeneutics of Ricœur since it is based on Ricœur’s paradigm of text and translation. Thus, in addition to Ricœur’s hermeneutic paradigm of symbol and of text, this thesis suggests that Ricœur’s paradigm of translation is the main paradigm of the proposed hermeneutics of oral discourse and can be considered as the third paradigm of Ricœur’s hermeneutics. Ce livre se concentre sur la problématique de la méthode dans l’herméneutique ricœurienne des symboles et du texte. Nous considérons que c'est dans cette problématique que réside particulièrement l'originalité de l'herméneutique ricœurienne et sa contribution à la constitution d'une herméneutique générale. Cette contribution est liée fortement à sa tentative de pratiquer et de thématiser ou d'établir une dialectique fine entre des approches compréhensives et des approches explicatives, entre l’herméneutique de la foi et l’herméneutique du soupçon, entre la téléologie et l’archéologie (...) et en bref entre la compréhension et l’explication. Nous traçons cette dialectique, qui constitue l'arc herméneutique de l'interprétation ricœurienne, dans la théorie des symboles, la psychanalyse freudienne ainsi que les théories du texte, de la métaphore et du récit. Nous tentons, dans ce livre, d’analyser le déplacement de l’herméneutique ricœurienne de la théorie du texte à la théorie de l’action et à celle de la traduction. تهدف هذه المناقشة إلى تسليط الضوء على أبرز الإشكاليات التي يتضمنها هذا الكتاب( )، وإبراز بعض الأسئلة والأسس المنهجية والمعرفية التي ينطلق منها، وآلية معالجتها، والبناء عليها، ومدى منطقية أو معقولية هذه المعالجة وهذا البناء. وتنطلق هذه الدراسة من فرضية أو أطروحة ترى أن النص مبني على أساس ثنائيات متقابلة يتم السعي إلى إقامة جدلٍ على النمط الهيغلي بينها. وانطلاقاً من هذه الأطروحة، سيتم تقييم الكتاب، بالدرجة الأولى، على أساس مدى نجاحه في تأسيس هذا الجدل بين ثنائيات يطرحها الكتاب صراحة (...) أو يحتويها ضمناً، مثل: "المسألة العربية" و"الاستثنائية العربية"، القومية والديمقراطية، "البنية وفاعلية الذات، الأيديولوجيا (القومية) والمعرفة "العلمية"... إلخ. ونجرؤ على القول إنَّ الجدل الهيغلي، بوصفه رؤيةً فلسفيةً منهجيةً، يمثل "الروح" أو الأساس الفلسفي العميق أو الأعمق لهذا الكتاب. ويبدو أثر هذه الرؤية واضحاً، على الرغم من عدم الإشارة إلى هيغل، في الكتاب، سوى مرة واحدة فقط (ص 19). ويقوم هذا المنهج الجدلي على الجمع بين طرفين، يقصي، في المرحلة الأولى، كلٌّ منهما الآخر أو يتضاد أو يتناقض معه؛ ثم يتم، في المرحلة الثانية، رفع هذا التناقض إلى وحدةٍ تلغي التعارض وتحتفظ به، في الوقت نفسه. ويتم هذا الرفع أو التجاوز، من خلال إبراز إمكانية أو ضرورة أن يكون كل طرف متوسَّطاً بالآخر. ويبيِّن هذا التوسط أن كل طرف يقتضي الآخر وينفيه، في الآن ذاته. وهكذا، لا يتحقق كل طرفٍ إلا بسلب نقيضه وبسلب نفسه، بواسطة الطرف الآخر. ويتجلى المثال الأشهر على هذه الوحدة الجدلية عند هيغل في العلاقة بين الوجود والعدم. فكلٌّ منهما نقيضٌ أو مضادٌّ للآخر، لكن، يتم تجاوز هذا التناقض أو التضاد في "الصيرورة" التي تتضمن الطرفين وتنفيهما، في الآن ذاته.( ) وتعني الجدلية هنا، فيما تعنيه، رفض الأحادية واللاتاريخية. وقد اكتسبت الجدلية معنى جديداً نسبياً مع ماركس، بحيث أصبحت مغايرة للميتافيزيقي أو الغيبي. وسنبين مدى حضور الجدل بكل معانيه أو دلالاته السابقة في بناء هذا الكتاب وفي مقاربته للمواضيع المطروحة. لقد ظهرت الكثير الكثير من المقالات التي تتناول الثورات والحركات الاحتجاجية في البلاد العربية عموماً، والثورة السورية من ضمنها، لكن يمكن، مع ذلك، اعتبار هذه الأبحاث عن الثورة السورية بأنها أول دراسةٍ تحليليةٍ وتأريخيةٍ واستشرافيةٍ مطوَّلةٍ ومفصَّلةٍ ومعمَّقةٍ لهذه الثورة المستمرة حتى الآن (14/11/2011). ولهذا السبب، ولكون هذه الأبحاث تتناول أمراً مصيرياً بالنسبة إلى كل السوريين، سأحاول القيام بمناقشة نقدية لبعض أهم الأفكار والوقائع التي عرضتها هذه الأبحاث. وأقصد بالنقد العمل على إظهار مدى مشروعية هذه الأفكار، من جهة أولى، وحدود (...) هذه المشروعية، من جهة ثان وبكلامٍ آخر تبسيطي، يقوم النقد بإظهار الإيجابيات والسلبيات، في الوقت نفسه. ويمكن تبسيط آلية عمل النقد في صيغة: "هذا حقٌّ ...، لكن ....". وتنبثق مشروعية أي فكرة من معقوليتها وواقعيتها، أو بلغة المنطق، من صحتها، أي اتساقها الذاتي واتساقها مع الأفكار الأخرى، وصدقها، أي اتساقها مع الواقع. ويمكن تبيُّن هذه المعقولية من خلال البحث في أسسها النظرية، وفي الوقائع أو القرائن المؤيدة لها، ومن خلال مناقشة مدى اتساق عملية استنباط النتائج انطلاقاً من هذه الأسس ومن هذه الوقائع والقرائن. لكنَّ الحديث عن مشروعية ما تطرحه الأبحاث من أفكار يجب أن يقترن بالحديث عن محدودية هذه المشروعية. فعلى الرغم من العمق والشمول اللذين تتسم بهما هذه الأبحاث عموماً، إلا أنها تبقى، مثل كلِّ الدراسات والأبحاث، جزئيةٌ ونسبيةٌ، بدرجة أو بأخرى، تتجاور وتتوازى فيها عمليات الظهور والغياب أو الإظهار والتغييب، انطلاقاً من الإطار النظري الذي تحاول الأبحاث التأسيس له، وعليه. ولا يعني القول بجزئية الأبحاث الانتقاص منها أو التقليل من شأنها، وإنما يقصد ذلك التشديد على أنَّها غير شاملة، بمعنى أنَّها تتناول جزءاً من الواقع والمدروس، ولا تستطيع تناول هذا الواقع بكليَّته. ونسبية الأبحاث تعني أنها مرتهنةٌ بجزئيتها، من جهة، وبعلاقتها بالمنهج الذي تتبناه، وبالإطار المعرفي الذي تطرح فيه أفكارها، بشكلٍ يؤسس له وعليه، من جهةٍ أخرى. ويختصر مصطلح "وجهة نظر (point of view or viewpoint)" أو مصطلح "منظورperspective) )" ما نقصده بجزئية الأبحاث والمعرفة الإنسانية عموماً. فهذان المصطلحان يوضحان ويفسران »لماذا نرى شيئاً على هذا النحو وليس على نحوِ آخر.«( ) وباختصار، تعبِّر جزئية الأبحاث ونسبيتها عن ضرورة منهجية وإبستيمولوجية وأنطولوجية، في الوقت نفسه، وهذه الضرورة محايثة لكل الأبحاث، ولكل أشكال المعرفة الإنسانية، بما في ذلك المعرفة "العلمية". وهكذا ستحاول المناقشة إظهار ما الذي يقوله البحث أو يريد قوله، وما الذي لا يقوله أو لا يريد قوله، مع إظهار معاني أو دلالات هذا الحضور والغياب وأهميتهما في استراتيجية الخطاب، عموماً، وبخصوص الواقع الذي يتناوله هذا الخطاب، خصوصاً. تنقسم هذه الدراسة إلى ثلاثة أقسام رئيسة. يعرض ويناقش القسم الأول تحليل خلفية الثورة السورية، من خلال دراسة العقد الأخير من تاريخ سورية. أما القسم الثاني فيتناول تأريخ وتحليل الأشهر الخمسة الأولى من الثورة السورية. وسيُكرَّس القسم الأخير لمناقشة الرؤية الاستشرافية، المعروضة في الأبحاث، لآفاق سورية، انطلاقاً من وضع الثورة-الأزمة الذي تعيشه. وقبل البدء في هذه الأقسام، أود الإشارة إلى أنَّ هدف هذه الدراسة لا يكمن في تقديم تلخيص يكون بمثابة البديل المكثف لهذه الأبحاث عن الثورة السورية؛ على العكس من ذلك تماماً، تهدف هذه الدراسة إلى حثِّ قارئها على العودة إلى قراءة هذه الأبحاث، من خلال التأكيد على أهميتها وقيمتها الكبيرة.
